You of all people should know about it Senior, Bret Hart has a big online following too, but he still almost bankrupted the company.

i wouldn't say terrible, but there seems to be this thing where, when people do admit he's not exactly proficient in the ring, his "enthusiasm" gets him over.

if that were the case, all it would take is to be able to really enjoy getting your arse kicked week in and out for little to no reward, no matter how hard you self-publicise yourself.

he has my respect for being able to get himself over as much as he did, and far more than he should have, but he lacks a finesse in the ring that i see now, which means that if he gets future endeavoured, all that will be missed is another jobber to be squashed by top guys and his "enthusiasm".

Quote -- The rumors about Zack Ryder turning heel have been around for a few weeks now, but it really started to heat up when the popular WWE star released a new video on YouTube yesterday. He first teased the return of his Long Island Iced Z video series before dropping the gimmick and showing disgust with the character that he was portraying. We posted the video here on the website earlier.

Good, I hope this happens, his current babyface persona is going nowhere and hasn't been ever since WWE killed the small amount of momentum he had by making him look like a idiot with Eve and Cena and then jobbing him out to everyone on the roster.

He's more effective as a heel anyway and it would open up the possibility of a Hawkins and Ryder reunion, both would have more value to the roster as a tag-team.

Instead of Ryder being turned heel i'd rather him just be released as he's just not worth keeping around.

No doubt his turn would include saying stuff about how fans turn their backs on him when he started to not win as much and how he got himself over not the fans.

The last time he played heel he was even more boring than watching his Jersey Shore ripoff.

It's kind of a shame really. What he did to get over was pretty revolutionary and left a lasting impact on the WWE. And lest people forget about Survivor Series 2011, "We Want Ryder" was the biggest chant of the night enough to drown out both the US title match AND the finale of the tag match with Rock & Cena vs Miz & Truth. Rock gets on the mic afterwards and even he is drowned out by chants of "We Want Ryder!"

Sure, the character was a goof, but the fact that he was booked to never get his win over Kane ruined him. IMO he should have been booked 1,2,3 Kid style over Kane. And then let him win and keep the US title a while longer with some successful defenses.

Honestly, I think he was most effective as a face, he was just buried. NOW however, I think it IS time for him to turn heel. Not so much because he should turn on the fans (though I think that tired out cliche would actually work with him too) but because he should get pissed off, throw a shit fit and start being a nuisance of himself ala Miz in 2010.

But hey, it's obvious the WWE doesn't want to work to develop the undercard, and only the main event matter, so this won't happen.

how, exactly, is a turn going to do anything fro him?

it just means instead of getting a cheer on the very rare occassion he appears on Raw, he'll either get booed, or come out to a cold crowd...

as has been said elsewhere, this idea that a guy will get over simply by swapping from one to the other is bizarre. it can work with some guys, but only when they are actually seen week in week out.

Just release the guy already.

He is very unhappy in wwe and unless a heel turn leads to Ryder getting mic time to where he can go all CM Punk on what he thinks of wwe, the heel turn will lead to nothing.

Let him work on a new act on the indies because wwe took a massive dump on the character Ryder has portrayed for years now or let him go to TNA and get a fresh start there.

Zach Ryder and wwe need a break from one another.

I think that's the assumption, that if he turns heel, he will get mic time, but I don't think that's necessarily a safe assumption. He could turn heel, and, just like when Mason Ryan turned face, without mic time no one will give a rats ass.

Quote Zack Ryder has continued to exhibit a "more serious" character at the various shows on the WWE European tour. This started on Monday night's (April 22) Raw with Ryder wearing fewer props to the ring and no longer spiking his hair.

Ryder recently Tweeted "Take care... grow your hair." On Raw he was looking a bit shaggy. It reminded me that long haired Ryder was always a heel.

I seriously wonder if anyone from the creative team even talks to him on a regular basis. I have trouble buying into the notion that his whole character is being completely scripted by WWE.He seems to have been a step ahead of the WWE corporate machine in regards to social media the whole time. Plus WWE undermined his popularity through booking.

He's used his Twitter account to promote his own angles. For example, he dubbed his appearances on the European tour as the Ryder Revenge tour and bragged about beating Health Slater at house shows. If it wasn't for jobbing he'd get no TV time at all.

But even taking a more serious approach with his character, it might be too little too late. IWC fanboys have been clamoring for a heel turn for a while now. But let's think about this for a moment:

*Does WWE need another low-midcard heel? Actually they have more than they show on TV. That's why guys like Epico & Primo and PTP end up working more on NXT than main roster shows.

*Who would he feud with? He was the last guy to actually want the US title. But nobody has ever benefitted from feuding with Kofi. Plus look at what happened with Cesaro. Never having a feud that lasted more than a couple weeks did nothing to help him get over.

*Would a heel turn equal higher spot on the ladder? Nope. That's the main assumption by most fanboys.

*Why is being a lower midcard heel than being a lower midcard face? The answer is simple: it isn't any better.

There also the subject of Ryder merchanise. At one point Ryder was one of WWE's highest merchandise movers. But that seems to be over now. Just looking at the crowds on TV I don't see as many Ryder shirts as I used to. I think CM Punk has taken over.

Quote Zack Ryder tweeted that his ankle was hurting after last night's RAW.

Unlike John Cena, Ryder can take all the recovery time he wants because it won't affect any of WWE's creative plans.

So I'm a little late to the show here, but since no one else has talked about it, either no one else has seen this yet either, or (perhaps more likely) no one else cares enough to even comment on it.

For all the complaints I might have about Ryder. I find myself always rooting for the guy. I want to see what he will do next, even if he makes me facepalm, sometimes especially if he makes me facepalm, ala when his dad took off his Ryder t-shirt to show he was wearing a JoMo shirt, posed like JoMo and said: "I'm a Mofo!" That f**kin killed me.

My kids loved him during 2011, he was over, despite not being on TV, he was a goof, lame, tongue-in-cheek funny, very entertaining in a car-wreck kind of way, and most of all, endearing. Some wrestlers try their whole careers to endear themselves to the fans, and never do. It's basically THE MOST important thing any wrestler can do, lest you end up like Dean Malenko or Test or (perhaps a little more relatable) like The Rock's run as Rocky Maivia. If people don't care about you one way or the other, it doesn't matter what else you can do, you're a failure as a pro-wrestler.

Zack Ryder was loved and he still has a quiet group of hardcore fans rooting for him, and a lot more who will hop back on the bandwagon if they see he starts to get popular again. The most impressive thing of all is that he has been doing it HIS way as a FACE. He knows how to play to his strengths, and all he needs is to get his momentum going again after getting it crushed by WWE Creative (no surprise Z! True Long Island Story went into the crapper after it was absorbed into the WWE Youtube Network.)

I hope the best for him, because I want variety on Raw, not the same 5 storylines week in week out, and no one else is willing to do HIS kind of goofy ass crap on Raw. Well unless WWE enlists a bunch of TNA employees.

Woo woo woo! He won tonight! Not sure if that is a sign of Zack getting a spot on tv more frequently lately, or if Fandango is getting his comeuppance. But I was happy to see Ryder get a win.
