Cue the latest chance to speculate if CM Punk will actually make a homecoming.......

Quote According to a Chicago Tribune article, WWE will bringing next year's Survivor Series to the Chicago area - holding the event in 2019 at the Allstate Arena, which is technically located in neighboring Rosemont. The event will be held on November 24, with NXT, Raw and Smackdown to run between the 23rd-26th (the article actually says 22-25, but that would be Friday-Monday). The last time WWE brought Survivor Series to Chicago was way back in 1989.

“WWE is so proud of our relationship with our fans in Chicago,” said John Saboor, the WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events, “Allstate Arena, going back to when it was known as Rosemont Horizon, has been such an important partner of WWE, dating back to the ’80s.”

“Chicago consistently has an electric atmosphere and audience. It's really something,” he said. “Our superstars, with great frequency, mention that Allstate is one of their very favorite venues in the country to compete.”

Before I would say no chance, but next year the Fox billion comes into play and so E have more negotiating power than at any time in their whole history.

Punk isn't making huge money anymore and hasn't been for years. If he's still living the same lifestyle his funds will be dwindling. If E offer him 3-4 episodes of Raw leading to Suvivor Series and a match at Survivor Series he could be open.

So Survivor Series will be Raw vs Smackdown vs NXT, I like this a lot as it showcases some of the NXT talent on a big stage hopefully sparking a bit more interest in the brand from more casual WWE fans, not to mention the big time experience it gives to the talent.

Apart from anything else it gives a fresh spin on Survivor Series as the Raw vs Smackdown format wouldn't have been much of a draw this year what with the wild card rule making the separate brands meaningless over the past few months.

I wonder if this means a series of triple threat matches or just a mix and match type scenario with talent from various brands. I would love to see a triple threat of Lesnar vs The Fiend vs Adam Cole, although Cole vs Brock would also be a dream match of sorts for me.

That's an interesting twist, but NXT is without it's star player at the moment in Velveteen Dream. Without him to outshine whoever might get in the ring with him, NXT is going to suffer.

A bright spot would be to have a group of people shirk the rules of RvSvN and unite instead, specifically AJ Styles, Gallows & Anderson, Finn Balor, and maybe someone else like say Cesaro & Ohno reforming the Kings of Wrestling.

I think it's fairly safe to speculate that Balor might be in league with the OC, and also that if WWE does go the route of uniting their Bullet Club members (minus Adam Cole in the UE) that some WWE guys will join just to mix things up.

I've been hoping for an NXT invasion storyline for a long time but this is just as good.

Smackdown was insane, can you imagine what its going to be like at SS when the crowd are hot and hopefully full with alot of NXT fans.

Id love for them to give NXT the win at the PPV but deep down i know Vince wont want his main brand getting beat off the black n gold.

Dream is injured but hopefully he can appear in some capacity but with Gargano, Ciampa, Cole, Undisputed Era Riddle and Lee, Baszler and the rest of the women - NXT are still in good stead

Lets go NXT!!

I love this crossover storyline but I do hope it's only short term, I dont want to see NXT get sucked into Vinces version of WWE, they need to remain separate and different and keep doing what they do.

I really hope NXT dont get buried at Survivor Series, it would be crazy to do that as these guys are the future of WWE, they need to at least put in a good showing, obviously it would be madness to expect them to dominate Raw and Smackdown.

The potential match ups are interesting, are we likely to see Brock Lesnar vs Adam Cole vs The Fiend? For some reason I just dont see that happening, we have yet to see how WWE will handle the Universal title situation anyway. This would actually be a golden opportunity to book Riddle vs Lesnar, or Keith Lee vs Brock would be a money match too but I would go with Riddle because Lee hasn't built up enough steam yet to be at Brocks level.
What they do with Wyatt is the most interesting talking point, I mean the character doesn't really fit a inter brand war type scenario, if the title remained on Rollins that would set up Rollins vs Cole which would have been great.

Survivor series is shaping up to be PPV of the year at least on paper.

I'm sure it will deliver too as it all have heavy NXT involvement and influence

Cant remember the last time I looked forward to a WWE (non TakeOver) PPV  so much

This one is going to be epic

TBH if they're going to pull the trigger on the NXT involvement as clearly they are. Then I would like to see yet another roster shakeup down the line soon, because there are a LOT of WWE talent that were much happier in NXT and I think it'd make sense to let them go back.

However behind the scenes there's likely more to becoming a returning NXT star. For example, did Balor want/need a lightened schedule? Is he being groomed for a different role within WWE behind the scenes like as a producer, or some such thing? He obviously won't be travelling as much, or working as heavy of a schedule, so that HAS to figure into this decision doesn't it??? And if so, then why?

I'm not sure but there are also reports online about alot of NXT talent being unhappy about how little they are used. We dont  need more talent making that more of a problem - on the main roster I can understand it but in NCT I cant.

It is developmental, if people arent given the chance, how can they develop?

Well I've said time and time again that WWE needs to learn to be more concise and fit more into their shows by having shorter segments. We don't need 10 minute entrances, or commercial breaks where they literally just stand around before ringing the bell. We don't need 20 minutes to cut a promo when you can do it in 5 so long as you just get to it and move on. NXT used to be really good at these things but they've been getting worse and worse about it for the last couple of years.

At this point there really isn't much of a difference between NXT and the main roster. Especially in how the new talent aren't showcased enough and the main even talent are on pretty much every week instead of getting a week off here and there.

I mean, if people are so worried about what will happen if Vince takes over, then all they have to do is go watch an episode from 2015 and then closely compare it to an episode from last week and they'll see the transformation has already been under way for a very long time and they've come a long ways from where they were. It's just been slow and subtle and they haven't been paying attention.

This is exactly why I often just watch the WWE.com highlights of Raw and Smackdown on WWE's YouTube channel. Each segment is squashed down into a short video and it allows you to pick and choose which bits of the show you watch. I find that promos and non wrestling segments are pretty much there in their entirety still it's just the long winded entrances and time wasting stuff that is removed. Matches are obviously very edited and it's usually just a brief highlight reel of each match sometimes less than 2 minutes long, but considering so many WWE TV matches are formulaic throwaway matches anyway I'm quite happy with a short clip and the finish.
