First time I've watched both Raw and Smackdown in full in I can't remember how long.

So Smackdown didn't have any noticeable efforts to shake things up like Raw did but I still found it a pretty entertaining episode, it's just obviously if you're a fan expecting lots of Bischoff inspired change on this show you will be disappointed.

They seem to be teasing a Kevin Owens face turn and the end of the show may have confirmed him as a babyface, I thought they may do this as it was clear prior to Wrestlemania a face run was planned for Owens but Kofi's popularity sky rocketing meant plans had to be changed. I'm fine with this but they need to book Owens as a bad ass with a few comedic elements pretty much how he was booked this week, not the goofy idiot he was when he first returned this year.

In any rate all the stuff involving Owens was the highlight of the show this week, he had interactions with Shane, McIntyre and Ziggler which would lead to him teaming with Dolph against Heavy Machinery in the main event which then set the face turn in motion.

Everything else was pretty much the standard build to the Extreme Rules matches, we saw a confrontation between Kofi and Samoa Joe, some brawling between New Day and Bryan/Rowan and a match between Nikki Cross and Bayley. Also Apollo vs Andrade.

Mustafa Ali on Smackdown segments are intriguing and doing very well at allowing him to show more personality.

Daniel Bryan & Rowan Partnership On Smackdown has little interest even though they are the champions.

Little changes for the better have been happening since Bischoff was announced, but it's still a work in progress show.

I agree the Ali vignettes are doing a good job of building him as a character.

I don't care about the Bryan/Rowan team, I liked the heel Bryan character as a solo act with Rowan as his muscle, the two of them teaming feels like a huge demotion for DB even with the tag-titles. Heavy Machinery are a fun team though kind of like a modern day Natural Disasters. I would put the belts on HM and then have them feud with the Authors of Pain.

The Owens babyface turn storyline was well executed and the best part of the show, how Ziggler is fitting into this setting a possible turn for him too is intriging.

Roman Reigns in both the Raw and Smackdown main events was overkill. Roman seems a bit subdued a bit more low key since his return. Bischoff has publicly said he would like to turn Reigns heel so will be interesting to see if that happens.

I'm not into it... I sat through both this weeks and last weeks episodes of smackdown today, but really wasn't very interested.

Owens was a bright spot as was Otis of Heavy Machinery. IMO Otis is the most entertaining NXT call-up in ages. Black and Ricochet and all the others have been kinda meh, but Otis gives us that flavor of crazy awesome that's been missing since the days of Scott Steiner.

Big E is also a good one... as for the rest, I really just don't care.

23/07/2019 episode:

Good episode I enjoyed pretty much everything I saw from this show.

I'm enjoying Kevin Owens evolving into this anti-hero character and obviously Shane as the mega heel is the perfect guy for him to face.

The angle with The Miz, Ziggler and HBK was very good and Dolph mentioning Goldberg's name constantly makes me think they are building to a match.

Nakamura vs Apollo Crewes was a very good match and I liked how this showcased Apollo's ability in the ring.

The Orton/Kofi set up was well done and I liked how they played into the history between these two and even mentioned how Orton used his backstage stroke to hold Kofi back years ago.

30/07/2019 episode:

Firstly I'd seen a report that Vince McMahon re-wrote a lot of this show, I didn't see any obvious evidence of that or if he did he did a good job. This was another very improved effort from WWE. I think Vince and his team will likely assist Bischoff more with Smackdown anyway, Eric himself has admitted creative was not always his strong suit and he relied heavily on a team around him, I think he's been brought in more to keep the Fox execs happy.

The show opening match between Owens and McIntyre was excellent, PPV main event quality match and I would highly recommend watching it. Shame to see Drew do another clean job but he did put in a strong showing here and Owens is red hot at the moment, sometimes its simply a case of someone has to lose and I think Owens currently has the most momentum and is booked in a major Summerslam match so he got the nod to go over.

The Kings Court segment featuring Trish Stratus started awkwardly with Trish obviously reciting scripted lines, but things picked up when Charlotte appeared and the match at Summerslam was set.

Another segment featuring Bray Wyatt in the Firefly Fun House followed by a appearance by the Fiend distracting Finn Balor and allowing Dolph Ziggler a win over him. Loved this as the booking of Wyatt's new character has been expertly done so far and nice to see Dolph get a win even if tainted.

Nakamura and Ali worked a very solid non title match, it served its purpose and was good enough given its limited time, this was obviously setting a future title match between these two men probably at Summerslam.

Kofi vs AJ was another PPV standard contest, surprised to see a clean win for Kofi here but no harm I guess as he is the champ. This also seemed to be building a rivalry between the OC and the New Day.

The show ending segment where somebody out of view pushed a load of scaffold over and it narrowly missed Roman Reigns as he was walking out to the ring was a bit strange but it has the potential to be a big debut of someone new from NXT or a push for a current up and comer. I just hope it doesnt turn out to be Joe or McIntyre who will probably do another clean job for Roman.

I would watch the most recent episode for the Buddy Murphy vs Roman Reigns match if nothing else, excellent match that was a breakout performance for Murphy and they should have placed this match on the Summerslam card.

Nice touch by Reigns showing a nod of respect to Murphy post match too.

Smackdown was really poor this week, it seems to be a constant pattern - surely they are going to need to improve when they move over to FOX?

I find it absolutely disgraceful that the KOTR semi final was made all about Shane and not about the guys who have carried this tournament and made it interesting these past few weeks.
