Quote WWE sources suggest that a women's Royal Rumble has a good chance of happening, perhaps as early as next year and definitely within the next couple of years. However, when asked about a Royal Rumble featuring NXT stars to take place on Royal Rumble weekend, the source said that is very unlikely to happen.

It would depend on the people involved because two on the same night could be too much.

Say the women have a 15 person event, will people complain that the women are only seen as half as good?

I can't say i'm particularly interested in a female version of this match.

If you have two Rumble matches you'll start to saturate the impact of it. By all means do a Womens version, but could it be done better as a Battle Royal rather than a Royal Rumble?

I've already shown that with a few guest spots for people like say Rousey and the horsewomen, as well as 1 night returns for Trish Stratus, Lita and the like plus a few call-ups from NXT it would be exceedingly easy to get to 30 women. 20 women however might be a sweet spot simply because of time constraints.

If there are two Royal Rumble matches, and each of them lasts a minimum of 2 minutes per entry, then that's 1 hour and likely 20 minutes or so for the one match, multiply that event by 2 and we're talking pushing 3 hours just for 2 matches if it's 30 competitors per Rumble and 2 minutes per entry. For that reason alone I would say 20 women and each royal rumble match drops down to the 90 second per entry like they have sometimes done in the past.

That would drop the time for the 2 Rumble matches combined to roughly an hour and 45 minutes maybe 2 full hours, and that's much more palatable.

Otherwise I'd love to see a full 30 woman Royal Rumble match. Alternatively if they dropped the entry time to 1 minute they could easily fit 30 people, but I think that'd just feel too rushed and ruin the PPV event completely.

I guess the next question is, do we also get women's title matches during that event prior to the Royal Rumble? Seems like whoever the champions are, they should be on the card, yet not in the match right?

For the record: Asuka should win the Royal Rumble and she is my pick, right here an now.

I see no reason to add another Rumble match

Theyve had spots in rumbles where some dominant women have entered and scored a few eliminations - Chyna and Awesome Kong spring to mind instantly

Perhaps they could have a few more women enter the normal rumble as opposed to creating another one

At this rate with all the effort in creating this equality amongst the roster, they will end up with two completely separate federations or at least a Women only weekly tv show (replacing 205 live)

I wish they would get their own show. Quite frankly at least once I would love to see a woman's royal rumble, I don't know about every year, but once? fuck yeah!

"Remember that year they had the women's royal rumble?"
"Yeah that was crazy!"

"Remember that year Ric Flair won the title by winning the Rumble?"
"Best rumble ever!"

"Remember that year they had 40 men in the rumble?"
"Fuck ADR!"

Quote Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the original plan was Brock Lesnar vs. Finn Balor for the Universal Championship to take place at the Royal Rumble. However, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has changed his mind.

Meltzer noted that the official change was made by Vince on Monday morning as he decided that Balor “isn’t over enough” for a match against Brock.

The plans for Lesnar at the Royal Rumble are now up in the air. Meltzer notes that Brock vs. Braun Strowman likely won’t be the match because they don’t want to have Strowman suffer a second loss to Lesnar.

The reason Balor isn't as over as he should be, is because his booking has been poor since the return from his injury.

Lesnar could have another match with AJ Styles and go a bit longer than the first. I'd be happy with that.

Management should take a punt on Joe as that would be a cracking contest.

I'd go with another Lesnar vs Braun match anyway. He doesn't have to lose. Have a non-finish as the result of them both being carted out on a gurney and driven away in an ambulance. Essentially they battle to a draw but he doesn't get a rematch right away because of whoever his WrestleMania opponent is going to be.

Ohyeah, and Adders wants me to mention Asuka all the time now so...

Asuka!

They could easily get around that by having Strowman win the rumble however we all know that Reigns will be the one to win that

It really doesn’t matter if Finn is over enough given that whoever is in the match will lose anyway

Go with Lesnar vs Joe again. They want to protect Strowman so don't go that route. The only other option could be free agent Cena.....

fuck. off.

as Adders says, Balor isn't "over enough", despite huge crowd reactions all the time, because his booking since returning has been shit.

right now, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if HHH faces him.

it's literally about whether you want it to look like Brock has a chance of losing. the problem there is you're allowing him and Heyman to promo themselves as near impossible to beat, and then backing that up by having Lesnar go over anyone he faces, so now, there are only perhaps two or three people in the whole company who look like they have a chance against him, and Finn isn't in that list, neither is Joe.

as good a match as AJ bought out of him Sunday, and it was down to AJ, his matches are often dull and repetitive. indeed, the match Sunday started to look like it was going to follow that same route. if it's got to be Reigns, then just fucking do it before Mania, even if it means having the rematch at Mania and Reigns still getting the win, and then give him his little run, him coming out the next night being "...not a good guy, not a bad guy, just THE guy."

plenty of Raw talent to fight over that title, and several NXT prospects that could be called up at various points to keep an interchangeable main event for at least three years, four I guess when you add in the potential to draft in SDL guys when one particular talent starts to go stale.

as for the Rumble, again, if Reigns is going to be in the Universal title match at Mania regardless, at least have a worthy SDL guy win the Rumble match, don't waste another Rumble win on Reigns.
