Agreed there. I was focusing on tonight, should have designated.

His promo on the go home to TLC was spectacular, and while he wasn't facing out and out antagonism, he had to wrest attention from the hometown Daniel Bryan, and he rose to the occaision. But tonight didn't merit that kind of praise.

Raw was good. Raw has been good for several weeks now.

I'm glad they didn't troll endlessly. They added to the segments instead of completely shitting on them.

Great Raw looking forward to Raw every week for the first time in a long time.

Just finished watching west coast raw. Gotta say they made Chicago fans look like the marks they are. That is how you book heat, and that is how you derail a hostile crowd. Even Cena did well with the crowd, and the fqct that he pulled a few punches instead of letting them have it like they deserved reinforces what he told Austin Iinhis Iinterview a couple weeks back. When the crowd wants to be the star of the show, just hold back a little and let them have their moment. Very smartly handled show considering the circumstances.

I quite enjoyed the fact they trolled the home crowd into thinking Punk would show. Heyman again proved why he is one of the greatest heel managers in the history of this business, he's one of few heel managers who get listened to when he speaks.

Shocked they put the gold on Usos on Raw, thought they'd have held that out to WM but you can't have them all. Enjoying the tit for tat tension within the Real Americans, Big E is becoming an after thought here though, which isn't good.

Rollins is obviously going the tweener dilemma route, who will he side with? Hope they don't drag that our for too long though.

Main event, well it was used just to continue the tensions between Orton and Bootista,  and Bryan/HHH. Wasn't an horrific Raw overall, but they still got plenty to give.

Adders it wasn't even hijacked. The crowd was great they got behind guys who have never got pops like that before. The Usos' moment of winning the tag titles was made so much better because of that crowd. The pops for The Shield and Wyatts got them over big. They were respectful enough for them to enhance the product and not ruin in.

Paul Heyman comes out to “Cult of Personality”… that is a curious decision. Good job by WWE to make sure to show the handicapped kids in the front row looking disappointed and confused. My first thought was that Heyman was coming out to bury Punk on the mic, since… well, he’s Heyman and he has the mic skills to verbally bury anyone. But he did a decent job of turning the focus over to Brock Lesnar.

I hate Lesnar’s voice. It’s not a matter of what he says or how he says it, just his tone. And then when he shouts… it’s like puberty in reverse.

What’s the point of having Lesnar beat up Mark Henry again? Was it just to get the cheat pop from doing the announce table spot?

Tag Team Championship match: New Age Outlaws vs. The Usos

Having Road Dogg not do the intro was a good move. The NAO are the heels but the intro always gets them face pops.

I don’t care what anyone else says, the Usos are over with the crowd. They may not get the same monster pops as some others… but they are over.
I’m a little surprised that this was a title match. I thought this angle would have been drawn out until WM30.

Backstage Divas are gathered around a TV presumably they just watched the lame-ass clip for the guest star. I don’t understand why face Divas and heel Divas seem to hang out together backstage. They don’t do that with the guys. The face Divas are all fawning over Aaron Paul.
Aksana says something but the other Divas don’t seem to understand her. I’m not sure if that was supposed to be funny.

Big E vs. Cesaro (with Zeb Colter & Jack Swagger)

Funny to see Cesaro getting a bigger pop than Big E. Swagger interferes and costs Cesaro the match. Big E hits his finisher on Cesaro and gets booed.

The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family

I don’t think WWE really knows what to do with this angle. The fans are clearly into this, but WWE is looking at breaking up the Shield and having The Wyatts go after Cena.

I don’t recall seeing Ambrose play the Ricky Morton, that’s usually Rollins’ job. Ambrose pulled out a good Figure Four. Better than the Miz’s horrible version. Ambrose got to show his skills off a bit more than he has in a long while.

I was surprised to see Rollins jump back from the Ambrose tag. But it was far more surprising than seeing Ambrose go hot-heated crazy and cost them the match.

Renee Young interview Batista backstage. Smart move in keeping Bats backstage, the crowd would have gone nuts. There’s a big difference between having him on the tron and having him in the ring. Plus they count dial down the house mics to allow Bats to be heard.

Fandango & Summer Rae vs. Santino Marella & Emma

Is it just me, or does Emma’s theme sound like a bad ringtone? Her “dance” still looks like some sort of remedial physical therapy. Santino & Emma don’t realize that every time they high five that it counts as a tag? Hilarious to hear commentary talking about how “popular” Emma is, while they completely ignore the cheers for Fandango, the Punk chants, and the “We want Ziggler” chant.

Christian vs. Sheamus

Who thought these 2 should feud?  Is it just because when they are next to each other, Christian’s spray tan looks orange?

“This is awful!” clap-clap-clap… that pretty much sums it up.

Backstage Renee Young starts to interview Sheamus, when Christian attacks. Damn it! Let this feud just die already.

Bella Twins vs. Foxana

Somebody finally give the Bellas a Divas Tag Team Championship.

D-Bry comes out and gets mad pops. I still say his music is crappy. D-Bry says they are going to hijack Raw; interesting way to twist the crowd around. He wants either Batista or Triple H.

The Authority comes out. D-Bry challenges Triple H to a match at WM30 and Trips says no. This segment is dragging. D-Bry asks Stephanie to put on Trip’s trunks and she can fight him at WM30. (If she’s topless it would get buys.)
Triple H and D-Bry argue a bit. Stephanie calls for Kane. D-Bry jumps him before he can get in the ring. 5 security guys and 3 refs separate them.

Alberto Del Rio is in the ring. A car engine is piped in over the crowd. A Mustang rolls and Ziggler’s music plays. Oh, the guest star has finally shown up… as Ziggler’s chauffer.

ADR vs. Dolph Ziggler

Aaron Paul joins commentary; he gets in a good dig at JBL. Commentary is focused on hyping Paul’s movie, Twitter account, and TV show. Oddly, Paul gets silent and is watching the match.

Aaron Paul gets on the table and distracts ADR. Ziggler gets the win off the distraction.
Of course if this was TNA, Paul & Ziggler would have just won the tag titles.

The next WWE HOF inductee is announced: Paul Bearer.
It took them long enough to make this official. Especially since his family confirmed they had signed a deal a year ago for his HOF induction for this year.

Big E vs. Jack Swagger (with Zeb & Cesaro)

Huh? Shouldn’t they have saved this match for next week or maybe SmackDown? Are they rushing this for the Chicago crowd?

Cesaro quickly interferes and costs Swagger the match.
Swags and Cesaro start arguing. Then they push and Cesaro is ready to start swinging Swagger.

Zeb gets on the mic and talks them down. He gets them to hug it out.

Cena’s theme starts, the Wyatt Family graphic comes up. Good job to the production truck.

John Cena doesn’t get his usual mixed reaction, it heavily negative; it doesn’t look like anyone over 12 is cheering for him. Cena says last week he was injured last week by the Wyatts - - the crowd cheers; Cena says the doctors won’t let him wrestle - - the crowd cheers louder.
Cena does he usual bit: loves this business, respects the fans, and yadda-yadda-yadda. When Cena says how change has to go through him, he sounds down right heelish.

Bray Wyatt interrupts over the tron. Bray gets a pop.

Backstage Batista is walking down a random hallway, he already looks out of breathe. Randy Orton comes up and wishes him luck. But Bats is out of gas and can’t reply. Or at least that’s how it looked to me.

Alexander Rusev comes out acting all evil foreign guy.

Randy Orton comes out to a meh reaction for the crowd. Looks like Orton is joining commentary. Batista comes out to some heat and he looks like he prefers it that way. D-Bry comes out to another big pop. Is anyone in WWE management taking notice of all this?

Batista vs. Daniel Bryan

I don’t have much to say about the actual match. I appreciate that WWE doesn’t have him work the “underdog” role that they always stuck Rey Mysterio with. Instead he’s like a feisty bulldog in the ring.

Post-match set-up a possible D-Bry vs. Triple H match at WM30.

Overall:
*The fact that WWE acknowledged Punk readily throughout the show should be a positive sign that he’s going to return sooner than later. WWE prefers to just ignore talent that has left, so in just acknowledging him on the air, it’s a sign that he’s not gone for good.

*The crowd did change the show, but they didn’t exactly hijack it. The Usos won the TTC, Ziggler won a match, Cesaro looked strong and the Shield vs. the Wyatts were all clearly done with the intention of placating the hostile crowd. The crowd wanted change and they got it.

*But they did nothing to change the interest (or lack thereof) in the WM30 main event. In fact, they did nothing to advance anything with WM.

FYI... next week's Raw is in Memphis. There is already @MemphisCrowdRAW Twitter account that has posted a similiar list as the Chicago crowd Twitter: mock the Authority, push Daniel Bryan, push Dolph Ziggler, support midcarders.

Quote From Jim Ross Website

Enjoyed many aspects of RAW Monday night. No Punk. No hijacking. The WWE folks steered the course just as I had suggested here and at on my show in NYC Saturday night. Seems like many in the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) were pulling for a disruptive show and I'm pleased that did not occur.

Despite the marks trying to shit on segments and matches with chants like CM Punk, this is boring etc it was a decent show.

Uso's should have waited till Mania to win the title but apart from the odd thing like Aaron Paul most of the show was enjoyable.

I thought Boo-Tista was going to get most heat of the night but Stephanie clearly won that.

I already answered your first question, Adders. The wrestlers in those matches might not like the crowd but they are professionals. You seem to have difficulty comprehending the fact that fans pay money for their ticket and they can be as vocal as they want. It's not them "stealing the spotlight." It's them engaging in the product in a way they are allowed to.

And seriously, you're not one to talk about others being an "idiot", nor of others being disrespectful. See the Margaret Thatcher thread to jog your memory of your worst examples of both.

As for my thoughts on this week's Raw so far...

I loved seeing Hulk Hogan, and he was used right and said the right things to both tie into his past history and to set up for the future in the Andre The Giant Memorial Trophy.

The war of words and tension between Paul Heyman and Undertaker was good. I just wish Brock would have been there also; but, I guess they are saving another face to face between the two for a later time. It's always good to see Undertaker.

I really enjoyed listening to Natalya Neidhart at the broadcasting booth during the AJ Nikki Bella match. I'm surprised Nikki escaped from the Black Widow to slam her backbreaker type finisher that it looks almost as if John Cena taught her.

It looks like the Shield is acting united again, at least for now. This is a good thing as I want them to remain a group. It seems the tease of a split up was just to appease the Chicago crowd last week.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley looked  like a "cowardly heel" in his yelling at Damien Sandow instead of recognizing his own inability to clear the ring after Daniel Bryan's little "occupy Raw" movement; which I don't like as Helmsley has never been a "cowardly heel" like that. But Bryan's possible entrance in the Title match at WrestleMania is a good way to appease unhappy anti-Batista fans.

I also saw Rick Achberger was one of the fans who were a part of the "Occupy Raw" movement. I wonder if that was his first time actually being in the ring. It's too bad he didn't/couldn't bring a sign in the ring.

The Sheamus vs Christian match was good, it had hints of the attitude era.

Haitch was a "cowardly heel" for more than the majority of EVOLUTION and even beyond that. He started incorporating that into his character when they tried to do the corporate takeover thing in 2009/2010.
