Quote WWE announced on Monday afternoon that the Kane vs. Braun Strowman match on tonight’s Raw will determine the new #1 contender for the WWE Universal Title. The winner of this match will face Brock Lesnar for the title at the Royal Rumble. Also, the singles match between Roman Reigns and Cesaro has been changed to an Intercontinental Title match.

WWE is in Cleveland, OH at the Quicken Loans Arena for tonight’s Monday Night Raw.

BREAKING: @KaneWWE will battle @BraunStrowman on #RAW, with the winner challenging @BrockLesnar for the #UniversalTitle at #RoyalRumble, PLUS @WWERomanReigns defends his #ICTitle against @WWECesaro…and it all happens TONIGHT! pic.twitter.com/3tNb9cijHZ

So now we know Braun is facing Brock at Royal Rumble, it saves people from having to watch the main event.

Cesaro in a singles match.....I wonder if Sheamus will be ringside to get involved or be left off in his current condition.

Absolution have done absolutely nothing of note so far and need to peak my interest.

Good, I hope Strowman walks out from the Royal Rumble as champion of the WWE Universe. I'm sure he won't, but ohwell... Maybe Finn Balor will win the Royal Rumble? I still think Finn Balor vs Brock Lesnar could be a huge success like that of Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar. I mean, really, if Eddie can do it, Balor can too.

I actually think it will end up being a Triple Threat. It would be foolish of WWE to have Braun lose to Brock again, so Kane should be put in the match. That way the Braun-Kane feud can be prolonged and Brock can pin Kane.

Not to mention, it's the only thing that makes any kind of sense.

Yeah this has got triple-threat written all over it. WWE won’t have Braun eat another pin for Lesnar, so Kane is added as the expendable fall guy. It also allows them to drag out the Kane/Strowman feud possibly until Elimination Chamber or even Wrestlemania?

I’m actually quite excited about this match as it should be a hard hitting power based scrap, don’t think Brock has ever faced Kane either so that’s something fresh.

Reigns/Joe was good stuff. Loved that Joe despite being heel opened the show with a challenge.

Kane/Braun had a dodgy show ending for the main event of a flagship show.

Drew Gulak was an highlight of the broadcast yet again, with his commentary adding to the second chance match.

Actually wasn't too bored with Raw this week.

Shield vs Bar & Joe was a good start to Raw. Cesaro vs Reigns was pretty great. Cesaro needs to be a babyface again, he could really wrestle. Made Reigns look good and still looked good himself.

Don't much care for the back and forth between Wyatt and Hardy this week.

Strowman and Kane was good but being DQd for powerslamming Kane through a table makes little sense.

Not much interesting going on with the women this week imo. But overall not bad either.

Braun's been main eventing for a while but this Kane feud does nothing for either of them really.

The problem is that Braun is essentially all about spots when he fights anyone except Roman. Big Show? Ring break, cage break. Kane, ring break. Lesnar? Table spots.

He's only really had good matches that go for a while with Roman. I heard good things about the Mark Henry match but I didn't agree that it was good.

It's not going to be easy for Braun to maintain momentum going forwards. If I were WWE I'd give him the Rumble match to put on a spotfest barnburner, give him the Triple H match at mania (Triple H can throw some goons at him, I'm thinking NXT guys like Ohno who don't lose anything by losing because they just stay in NXT) and then 'injure' him for a couple of months to work out what to do next and change the pace a little.

I'm not sure how anyone could go so far as to say that working with Kane does nothing for the guy. Kane is a mentor. You work with Kane you perfect your craft like with very few others.

Now, I haven't been following the storyline all that closely, but people are usually put with Kane to help perfect their promos or ring psychology. He is the reason Daniel Bryan was able to break through that glass ceiling.

Braun has presence much in the same way Charlotte had right from the start. You can't very well teach that. Everything else comes with experience and working with a veteran like Kane is a gift.

That said, Kane hasn't been the most entertaining character the last several years because he hasn't been on top in ages. So while perhaps in the story he does little for Strowman, as a professional wrestler, Strowman is likely learning a ton.

Kane is a great character wrestler and in the ring he gets the psychology and is safe to work with. The way he’s managed to constantly evolve his gimmick is impressive and his promo work has always been excellent, I particularly enjoyed his stuff as the more comedic director of operations.

Even though he’s more often than not used to enhance someone else a win over him still means something. I have no problem with him facing Lesnar especially as 2018 may be his last year as a active wrestler.

Got to be honest like - this episode of Raw was pretty awful

They seem like they are just struggling by to try and make things last to the next PPV

The Matt Hardy and Wyatt thing needs to advance from random vignettes and the Kane and Strowman thing needs to end soon

The one standout moment was Reigns v Cesaro which was awesome
