I knew NXT was going to have pretty bad ratings when the show was turned into a 45 minute commerical for WrestleMania inbetween two tag matches.

The format still needs to be tweaked and giving it 16 or 17 weeks now seems too long.  They could try mixing around the Pros, so they are paired with different Rookies.  Or maybe have an elimination and kick off one of the Rookies from the show... because right now only four of the guys look like they're close to being ready for SmackDown or Raw.

I actually dont mind the show at all, but I can understand why its not capturing the imagination of the mainstream audience, there is just nothing that special about it.

WWE gave the impression it would have a reality show theme which it hasn't, its basically just a bunch of FCW guys competing against one another with a few seasoned WWE guys thrown in to the mix, WWE can hardly expect killer ratings based on that format.

Then again perhaps its not about ratings, maybe WWE are just wanting to give the cream of FCW a bit of exposure in front of a WWE crowd before they get moved to Raw or Smackdown.

I notice that reference to NXT having a 'reality show' element have pretty well vanished from the broadcasts.  The format of the show could stand to be refined and hopefully some changes will occur in the second series.  I, for one, was wondering what would be the WWE Pros' motivation in coaching these Rookies.  That hasn't been addressed within the program.  If figured they should be sort of kayfabe coaching award or cash prize.  Something that would explain why the Pros would be willing to help a potential future challenger to their spot in the company.

I also agree that getting huge numbers wasn't the top priority for WWE.  WWE was looking for a new path to bring in new talent.  However Syfy channel wanted to see some improvements over the numbers that ECW was getting.  Syfy channel's top rated shows are Ghost Hunters (2.1) and Stargate Universe (2.1).  So NXT only needs to average a 1.5 to be a 'big' show on Syfy.  But this current format isn't going to do it for Syfy.

Quote Last night's episode of WWE NXT did a 0.94 (.09) cable rating, with 1,217,000 viewers. Last week's episode, which was replayed before this week's, scored a 0.45 rating with 614,000 viewers.

The concept continues to fail on a weekly basis at picking up even average ratings.

By now with the voting and that they should be much nearer to 1.5 which so far they haven't got close to seeing.

Management need to send out an NXT questionaire to fans to see what they want.

It really doesn't help that the show's format seems to get tweaked very week.  I also think that series run of 16 or 17 weeks is just way too long.  Either they needed more guys and needed to start eliminating guys already.... or the need to shorten the run down to 12 weeks.

The weekly challenge could be an interesting bit.  But it could also very easily be a time waste and steal screen time from actual in-ring action.

Quote Last night's episode of WWE NXT pulled a 1.01 (1.0) cable rating, with 1,282,000 viewers. The replay of last week's show, which aired before the new episode, drew a 0.49 rating with 644,000 viewers.

Fancy their best rating in the last month happening in the United Kingdom.

Next week management will be hoping for another increase as we get nearer to the end.

The last episode of the series wants to be at least the 1.4 rating the debut show got.

I think this whole Michael Cole/Daniel Bryan issue will give the ratings a bit of a boost.  Man, I am really starting to like this guy, too bad HBK couldn't have been his on screen mentor.  That would have been pretty cool as well.

Quote Tuesday night's season finale of WWE NXT scored a 1.17 (1.2) cable rating, with 1,415,000 viewers. This is up from last week's show, which scored a 0.86 (0.9) cable rating, with 1,191,000 viewers

A nice size rise but only down to people tuning in to see who won the first season.

Next week it will be back towards the 1.0 mark that the rating is usually near to.

Hopefully people saw enough in the trailers for the season 2 rookies to tune in.
