Quote WWE issued the following:

Facebook and WWE to launch LIVE in-ring series, Mixed Match Challenge, exclusively on Facebook Watch

Facebook and WWE today announced a new in-ring series, Mixed Match Challenge, that will stream live in the U.S. exclusively on Facebook on Tuesday nights beginning Jan.16 at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT. The 12-episode series will air on Facebook Watch and feature WWE Superstars from both the Raw and SmackDown LIVE rosters competing in a single-elimination mixed tag-team tournament to win $100,000 to support the charity of their choice.

Check out the Mixed Match Challenge Facebook page

Each 20-minute episode will reflect a progressive approach to production, with elements optimized for mobile consumption, experimentation and social interaction, including the ability for the WWE Universe to engage with Superstars during the show. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to select matchups, match stipulations and more, on Facebook.

“As we continue to expand our strategic partnership with Facebook, this new series, Mixed Match Challenge, jointly reflects our innovative approach to content distribution and fan engagement,” said Michelle Wilson, WWE Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer. “This show will deliver the action and excitement our passionate fan base is accustomed to while offering new production elements and social experiences that only Facebook can provide.”

“As a leader in entertainment innovation, WWE is an ideal partner to demonstrate how the live sports viewing experience can be reimagined on Facebook Watch,” said Dan Reed, Facebook Head of Global Sports Partnerships. “Mixed Match Challenge is a new competition produced specifically to take advantage of the reach, interaction and ongoing engagement enabled by our platform. Fans will be able to directly influence and interact with the in-ring action, follow the rivalries and storylines in between events, and connect with one another as the drama unfolds. We’re excited for the WWE community to come together on our platform to watch some of the biggest Raw and SmackDown Live Superstars and engage with WWE like never before.”

“Mixed Match Challenge demonstrates WWE’s flexibility in creating and producing compelling content across platforms in a media landscape that is evolving each day,” said Jayar Donlan, WWE Executive Vice President, Digital & Social Content. “The social interaction leading up to and during each show will connect WWE Superstars with our massive fan base on Facebook in more ways than ever before.”

Mixed Match Challenge Participants

Mixed Match Challenge is a Raw vs. SmackDown LIVE tournament where male and female Superstars team up to determine which combination of strength, skill, athleticism and experience reigns supreme.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote on Facebook for the final competitor from the Raw roster, as well as which tag team member of The New Day will be added to the SmackDown LIVE roster. Teams will be announced beginning Thursday, Jan. 4.

Monday Night Raw                                     SmackDown LIVE

Alexa Bliss      Becky Lynch
Alicia Fox      Bobby Roode
Asuka      Carmella
Bayley      Charlotte Flair
Braun Strowman      Jimmy Uso
            Enzo Amore      Lana
Finn Bálor      Naomi
Goldust      Natalya

Sounds interesting and it's definately different from anything they have done for ages.

It's also good for the company that they have got a fresh new business in Facebook that's willing to work with them to broaden the appeal of the product.

Just wish the names involved were bigger because only Braun is a top male talent.

So they want to put something else out there for us to find time to watch too?

I think so. I need a condensed, no bullshit version in order to understand it.

Quote According to a report from ProWrestlingSheet.com, Vince McMahon is “pulling out all the stops” for WWE’s “Mixed Match Challenge” 12-week series on Facebook. The show was announced on Wednesday and will kick off on January 16th, 2018. According to the site, McMahon wants to impress Facebook’s top executives and “get the attention” of other streaming services so that WWE can “open more doors” when their TV contract with NBC Universal expires in 2019.

For those wondering, the show is not expected to have any tie-ins with the RAW and SmackDown! Live TV storylines (other than minor things like an injury).

As of now, Nia Jax and Enzo Amore are expected to be paired up and it’s also possible that other real-life couples (Jimmy Uso & Naomi) and (Lana & Rusev) will team up on the show.

Facebook will be paying WWE for the distribution rights to the show. Vince McMahon and other WWE officials want to see how the revenue pans out for this show and will then decide how to proceed.

I'm looking forward to this because E want a bidding war for TV rights (TV channels, social media, subscription sites like Netflix/Amazon) so will do what they can to make this a success.

Not sure after the Rich Swann story the timing is good for promoting intergender matches.

They also posted up Sami Zayn as part of it, thus giving away he won't be getting sacked on sunday.

Who are you voting to team up and why ?

Are you excited for it ?

Are you glad that Enzo Amore is getting swapped out for Kurt Angle?

Hey my bad I couldn't find this

It's odd that they seemed to be building to Enzo and Nia and now have given up on it......

Quote In a bit of strange news, WWE Raw GM Kurt Angle announced via Twitter that he will be replacing Enzo Amore in the upcoming WWE Mixed Match Challenge. The reason Angle gave is Amore's current illness (flu), even though the MMC isn't scheduled to begn for another two weeks.

@real1 has the flu and thus I must replace him in the Mixed Match Challenge. #WWEMMC

It's more dumb booking of Kurt to have him remove someone from it who will be fit and ready to go in time.

I can't see this event not bombing because E will be too scared of doing a OMFG moment of a guy laying a woman spark out.

I think there was more to it then just Enzo being sick the girls may have decided that no one really wants to tag with him and would rather somone else take his place and Kurt is more then capable of being in the match and not making it a dud.

I don't think women won't have wanted to team with him. With his personality you would get more noticed by association. It would be a good career move for whoever got to team with him.

Quote WWE released a video on Facebook on Tuesday with Renee Young and Byron Saxton announcing WWE Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix as part of the commentary team for WWE's first annual Mixed Match Challenge.

Featured below is the complete announcement that WWE issued today:

Beth Phoenix announced for WWE Mixed Match Challenge commentary team

As revealed by newly-announced WWE Mixed Match Challenge hosts Renee Young and Byron Saxton on Facebook Live today, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix will join Michael Cole and Corey Graves on the announce team for the Facebook Watch exclusive show, starting Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 10 ET/ 7 PT.

Few female competitors have dominated their division quite as convincingly as Phoenix. The former Women's Champion ripped through anyone in her path and never failed to draw gasps from the WWE Universe, whether she was lifting Melina and Mickie James over her shoulder at the same time, eliminating The Great Khali from the 2002 Royal Rumble Match or Glam Slamming Eve from the top rope at the 2011's Survivor Series.

The Glamazon will certainly provide a unique perspective on the ground-breaking Facebook Watch show, beginning Jan. 16 at 10 ET/ 7 PT.

The show is "mixed" so they had to have a woman on commentary to make that mixed too.

It's too much like Raw though with Cole and Graves. Either replace Cole with JR or Graves with Lawler to make it different to the regular weekly shows.

Quote WWE issued the following:The first unlikely tandem to be announced for WWE Mixed Match Challenge is the destructive pairing of Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman. The unrelenting combination of Five Feet of Fury and The Monster Among Men will spell trouble for any opponents who dare to step into the ring with them.In the relatively short time since she was drafted from NXT in 2016, Bliss has battled her way through both the Raw and SmackDown LIVE rosters to capture four Women’s Championships. Without a doubt, she will do anything to win. Strowman — quite simply — takes no prisoners. He’s a mountain of pure annihilation whose only desire seems to be to secure his own dominance by destroying anyone or anything that gets in his path.Although Strowman is no doubt ready to scare every other team in the groundbreaking tournament, Bliss may have a different strategy in mind."You don’t scare me, big boy," Bliss informed Strowman. "But if you just listen to me and do everything I say, we’ll become the Mixed Match Challenge Champions."Together, Bliss and Strowman will battle in an innovative Facebook Watch exclusive tournament, where unlikely male-female WWE Superstar pairings will attempt to win $100,000 for their charity. But who will possibly be able to overtake them?Check back with WWE.com to learn other #WWEMMC combinations as they become available. Follow WWE Mixed Match Challenge on Facebook for more reveals and other updates along the way. WWE Mixed Match Challenge begins Jan. 16 at 10 ET/7 PT, exclusively on Facebook Watch.

I'm not sure how I feel about Alexa and Braun teaming up but I guess if they were to be taken out then Alexa is the one who would be taking the pin as Braun is the biggest male star that is wrestling in this and yes bigger the Kurt Angle at the moment .

I did like the little segment because it showed more of Braun's fun side with Alexa and I wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

Charlotte Flair was teamed up with Bobby Roode so we now have a glorious tag team there, however I don't see them going too far I feel whoever Asuka is teamed up with is they will win the entire thing.
