Actually Zeda looked more like Kitana... she was wearing the yellow and black MK3 female ninja gear.

Quote From Jim Ross Website

Loved being a part of the Mae Young Classic that saw me in  Orlando for six days last week interviewing all 32 women representing 13 countries plus Lita and I called 30 bouts over two nights.  I've never been in a pro wresting environment where there was so much natural passion and motivation from the roster whose only agenda was to have great matches and take a giant step forward in building women's wrestling.

I talk about 'The Mae' on this week's podcast and will share that I never dreamed of how personally impactful this event would become to me until I became immersed in it throughout the interview process on Monday and Tuesday.  I enjoyed working with @AmyDumas and @Madusa_rocks very much. I fed off their passion without question and you will hear it if you listen to our broadcast.

As I understand it, the reason the broadcasts will begin airing August 28 instead of sooner is because the shows need through, post production/editing to add all the elements that are needed with the tournament format and personality profiles, etc. The finals will be live on the WWE Network on Tuesday night September 12 from Las Vegas following SD Live.

I'm guessing that several women will likely earn a WWE contract based on their performances in the tournament.

Still I have no reason to care for this yet. Maybe interest will grow on me when E starting ramming the event down our throats on Raw and Smackdown at every opportunity.

It's just a bunch of random women that few will have ever seen before to want to invest.

It needed an handful of 'known' talents from the past for name value, like others shows have (such as NXT) to help bring on the new kids.

So the final is being produced here in Las Vegas on September 12th along with Smackdown Live! and 205 Live! Who's ready for four hours of wrestling!

Are you gonna be able to go see it live?

NXT has none of that. What are you talking about? You mean that time Rhyno was on for 3 matches? Or that time they signed that indie darling nobody but wrestling hardcore fans know about? The Women's Tournment has those types too.

Plus they have one of MMA's four horsewomen and Ronda Rousey cheering her on. It's got just as much going on with it as any of the men's tournaments had, if not more. In fact, I think it does have more than either the CWC or the British Tournaments had.

Face it dude, you just don't like women's wrestling.

I mean guys like Roode, Hero, Young etc that have had years of worldwide TV exsposure so when new guys beat them it elevates them. This tournament on the otherhand doesn't have that luxary.

CWC was spot monkeys. This womens event won't be as good as the British tournament because not for lack of effort but simply women cannot reach anywhere near the same level of ability or skill that men can.

That's why any sport men have all the record times. Why for example as good as Serena Williams is at tennis she'd get thrashed against most top 50 men players. Why women do 100 metre hurdles ten metres less and are still slower for world record. Why men regularly score over 300 runs in a cricket ODI (one day international fifty overs match so 300 balls run a ball on average) yet the womens world cup final at Lords yesterday the teams got around 220 apiece on average.

I love womens sport. Winning the cricket world cup yesterday was brilliant especially with the gorgeous Sarah Taylor who came back for it after a year out with anxiety. I'm enjoying England women in the current European tournament showing our overpaid men how it's done. But the women in wrestling these days are massively overated in the era of social media having such a huge impact on people creaming about for example Charlotte Flair matches on social media.

I have no interest in this tournament but then I admit I don't like Women's wrestling.

The novelty has completely worn off with the so called Women's revolution and the ladies matches I mostly skip. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy watching Sasha bust her dance moves and seeing Alexa in those little hot pants she wears but when it comes to the wrestling like a lot of sport I prefer the dudes, that's just the way it is.

All i'm going to say here is if Kairi Sane doesn't win there's a massive injustice going on.....even more so if that MMA bird wins due to Vince/Trips loving Ronda...that would just be awful.

But see that's what I'm saying. I knew Io Shirai was. Unfortunately she was pulled from the event because of injuries, so I admit she isn't the best example. I knew Shayna Baszler almost as long as I've known who Ronda Rousey was. If the Queen of Spades doesn't go a long way it's going to be a major upset just like it would be if Ken Shamrock, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, or Dan Severn under-performed in a tournament like this. I knew Tessa Blanchard. I knew Hojo before I even knew the name, because I've been watching Japanese Women's Wrestling for a while now (ever since I saw what Asuka was like in Japan when she was known as Kana). I didn't recognize her name at first but I knew that elbow drop and that flipping double foot stomp off the top rope that she does (on a side note, I wish she had used that as her finisher in the WWE even more than the elbow drop, she could call it The Abortion).

Now, to be fair, yes, it's a bit light on major names, but I think SOME of that has to do with the recent additions of women who were probably scouted for the tournament, but then were just recruited for the NXT roster instead, like with Heidi Lovelace (Ruby Riot).

Guys like Chris Hero, Kenta, whoever that Alistair Black guy was before he came to NXT. I'd heard the names, but I'd never seen them wrestle. Honestly, I think of all 3 tournaments I've known more about these women, than I did either the British Tournament or the CWC.

Quote CWC was spot monkeys. This womens event won't be as good as the British tournament because not for lack of effort but simply women cannot reach anywhere near the same level of ability or skill that men can.

See that's where you start to go wrong. They're not supposed to be judged in the same light, they bring a different style to the mix. Seriously? If you haven't seen these matches go watch them and then come back and tell me they were not fantastic wrestling matches. Go watch Charlotte vs Natalya Neidhart NXT Takeover from May 29, 2014. Watch the Four Horsewomen Fatal Fourway. It's honestly the best fatal fourway I've ever seen, man woman or otherwise. And then look up and watch Kana vs Meiko Satomura from the Osaka Triple Tails event. That's one of the stiffest, most technically sound badass matches I've ever seen. I have no idea how Asuka didn't give Meiko cauliflower ear after all those kicks to the head. No joke, if you can't appreciate those matches as instant classics, then don't try and tell me that you like Women's Wrestling or even could like it. You're prejudiced, and that's all there is to it. I don't care if you are, but let's call a spade a spade. Fletch openly admits it, I don't care. I don't think less of him for it.

Charlotte may be over-rated, but that's only when they start talking about her like she's already the GOAT. Clearly she's not there yet, but she definitely has a shot at that spot before she's done because she is at least THAT good. Personally my money is on Asuka taking that spot away from Manami Toyota (Trish Stratus was trash).

Trouble is with me I have been raised on male dominated sports and as a wrestling fan of more than 25 years I have become too accustomed to the ladies being the piss break match or just being there as eye candy for the male audience or just not being part of the product at all apart from maybe the odd valet. Even though I can appreciate the efforts of the women particularly in NXT it's just very difficult for me to see them as more than a after thought on the card.

It doesn't help that while the Women's Revolution caught my attention for a short time the ladies division is still full of girls who cannot match the quality of the men in the ring and the women's match quality is also not given the time and freedom on the main roster that they were granted in NXT.

"the women's match quality is also not given the time and freedom on the main roster that they were granted in NXT."

That's the real problem as I see it. When you compare the Last Woman Standing Match between Nikki Cross and Asuka to the women's Money in the Bank Ladder match, The Last Woman Standing match crushed it. They took big bumps just like any men's match would take, while on the main roster the MitB ladder match was a complete joke and over-hyped. You can't say it was the women involved because a couple years ago they were all putting on great matches in NXT, but when they come up to the main roster their match quality dropped through the floor.

"the women's match quality is also not given the time and freedom on the main roster that they were granted in NXT."

And this is why.

I expect the MYC to be extremely good, possibly the best wrestling showcase by women in WWE's history. And if it's not??? Then the naysayers have a strong foothold to say women just aren't as good, because they will be given the same freedoms the previous competitors of the CWC and British Tournament were given.
