From watching Russell Howard's Good News, I was alerted to this gentleman - Buddy Ward, who, at 75 years old is vying to be the World's Oldest Wrestler.

Quote From 'Ellesmere Port Pioneer, March 17th 2010.'
A MAN is bidding to be the world’s oldest Wrestler.

Buddy Ward, of Little Sutton, takes on Johnny Saint in an Easter clash of the titans.

Buddy will be 75 years old at the time of the fight and hopes to become the Guinness World Record holder for being the oldest wrestler.

He has had six wives and 30 children who will be cheering him on on the night.

The match, on Saturday, April 3, will be Buddy’s 4,000th and his first in more than 30 years.

Buddy said: “I am looking forward to it.

“I started wrestling in 1959 and wrestled in Ellesmere Port for many years.

“I’ve beaten Johnny a couple of times and he knows what I can do.

“He’s wrestled every year since 1958, he is a very good wrestler."

Is he the oldest wrestler anyone has heard of? Does anyone know of anyone older? x

He's isn't the oldest wrestler, oldest I know is Gilberto Melendez, otherwise known as Gypsy Joe, who is 76 years old.

Doesn´t Perro Aquaio still wrestle too? He was around 60 in 1997 already, so he could be up there with them as well... dunno if he´s still active though..

Just checked Wikipedia, he´s retired, his son carries on the name, that´s why I got confused...

Well, 75 does beat Dory Funk Jr.  He's 69 and still wrestles almost weekly for his school and promotion.  Yes, he's currently training his grandson Dory Funk IV for wrestling.

I was thinking that there had to be a Mexican or Puerto Rican wrestler near that age.  Old school guys like El Santo wrestled for 48 years and retired at 65 (and died less than a year later.)  Mil Mascara (68) has never retired, but seems to be more interested in movies right now.  The original Tinieblas still works Mexican Legends shows at 71.  Granted it's a bit harder to keep the luchadors straight when so many of the established stars pass their name and masks on.
