Well the grass court season was well and truly under way today with the beginning of Wimbledon (no one cares about Queens club so it doesnt count)

Federer was in fine form smashing his way to an easy win in just over an hour

Big shock of this round and without doubt the tournament was Rafa being knocked out by Darcis in straight sets

Murray picked up a win too and now that Rafa is out of the picture he will be hoping that Djokovic, Federer, Tsonga and Del Potro slip up

The weather hasnt been too bad for the tennis as of yet (touch wood)

I'm looking forward to more upsets throughout and also looking forward to seeing Sharapova and Ivanovic for obvious reasons

I said Nadal was gone about a year ago ago which he is. If his knees can't handle grass than he has no hope of lasting on the hardcourt. He may still compete on the clay court season but his success on other surfaces looks to be done.

Murray has not got the game to bet Djokovic on grass in a Grand Slam and if Federer is going to win a Grand Slam it will be Wimbledon so Murray winning is unlikely unless he gets a lucky draw with a few breaks like he got at the US.

Tsonga is the only real dark horse I can see winning as he has the game to beat Djokovic which guys like Berdych, Ferrer etc don't. Maybe Del Potro but he still is far behind what he was in 2009.

Thought it was disrespectful to Darcis how many excuses BBC were coming up with for the win. If Nadal was as injured as BBC made him out to be he'd have asked for the trainer and a medical time out. I think his defeat is more down to complacency than anything. He thought he could go straight from clay to the biggest tournament of the year without a warm up grass event so pulled out of Halle stating exhaustion as the reason. It's not like he was playing at Eastbourne last week. He'd have still had a week to rest between Halle and Wimbledon. Now he's gone out in the 2nd round last year and backed it up with his first ever major 1st round defeat this year you can bet next year he will make sure he does Halle (as he doesn't do Queens anymore due to the high tax pay).

No it wasn't.

Nadal is basically gone. His knees were in the same category of Soderling's three years ago. Soderling only lasted another year after that, Nadal has battled ever since.

Nadal plays at 110% whether its training, a warm up match or a Grand Slam final. I've been down to the Australian Open many times and his preparation is ridiculous. He basically plays a match at high intensity on his rest days when guys like Roger and Novak just hit the ball over the net a few times. The time he played Novak in the Australian Open final they showed both of them warming up on the outisde courts. Novak was playing handball whilst Nadal was playing a match. All this a resulted in his knees being shot to pieces

Never once would Nadal be complacent going into a Grand Slam he is the most intense bloke of the lot of them. His knees can not handle a lot of tennis anymore. His warm up preparations for grass court seasons in the past proves he isn't lazy.

Adders he will be lucky to be around in a year.

He knows his knees better than me and you so if they were that bad Wimbledon wouldn't have been his 10th event since his February return. Yes he should have a better schedule but he's too selfish so won't pull out of Mickey Mouse clay events he knows he will win with his eyes closed, so when you get to Wimbledon he might be a bit tired but it's still very bad that he lost to a nobody. Anyway it's nice to see Radwanska is on centre court today. POLSKA POLSKA POLSKA.

You obviously don't understand how different surfaces affect the body. Clay is like playing on water which is why veterans play their fixtures on it.

Clay is second only to hard courts for the damage they do to the body. Why do you think Nadal is the most broken down top tennis player? Because he's a clay master so plays way more on it than anyone else. Also it's harder to serve an Ace so you get longer rallies which isn't good for the body either.

Had a nice 3/1 double today. Under 39.5 games in the Blake/Tomic match and over 18.5 games in the Radwanska match.

Nadal screwed up my treble on monday with taking under 29.5 games in his Darcis match with under 28.5 in the Federer match and under 30.5 in the Murray match.

No its because he trains at 100% intensity all the time. Master of clay means nothing. Hardcourt dominates the tennis season and he's played the full circuit for about 8-9 years now which means he is playing more hard court than anything.

Djoko plays handball before a game
Federer plays cards
Nadal plays an actual match.

I understand where you are getting at in how the clay court game is a very grueling battle with long rallies though its the actual surface of clay which is pretty light on the body (I play junior tennis at a state level and one of the biggest tournaments of the year was on clay).

The way people looked at it is.
You got 10 years if you played on hard court regularly.
Grass you got 20
Clay you could play for a long time.

I remember people who only played on clay and would play in massive knee supports.

Radwanska stuck on Court 3 when she's 4th seed and last years finalist is wrong.

Got up a nice 11/2 treble today with Laura Robson not to get an ace in her opening service game, under 39.5 games in Almagro match and over 29.5 games in the Andy Murray match.

When the first set was 6-2 I thought the bet would go down but I won my bet by 0.5 games.
