In much the same vein as "Hot girls are terrible in bed", I'm hoping somebody can tell me why women swoon over foreign accents.

It's not even the "romantic" (gay) accents either like French or Italian or some shit. It's ALL OF THEM. As I've mentioned a few times on here, my best friend is Russian. In the first year we knew each other, there were two girls (who couldn't have been more different) who we were both vying for. Both chose him, one of whom chose him for the sole reason that he was Russian. It confused the shit out of me. Women who we would meet at the same time, anywhere, would always refer to us as "The Russian and his friend". Always. No exceptions. They'd flirt with him more, too. It never made any sense to me. It's not like he's better looking than me or anything either. He's more muscular (I'm like a stick), but we almost always wear baggy jeans and hoodies or loose sweatshirts, so it's not like you could really tell. We have very similar-looking faces, and our personalities are almost identical. Eventually I theorised that it was the accent, and females will go for anybody who's foreign, no matter where they're from.

To test my theory, I devised a plan. I chose some unimportant country nobody has heard of or cares about (Croatia), learnt one sentence of the language (Koliko ova costa - How much does this cost), and put on a fake accent. This worked, because while I'm pretty good at accents, my Eastern European one is shit, but I could cover for it because nobody knows what the fuck a Croatian accent sounds like, and because nobody knows fuck all about Croatia, nobody asked any questions.

I then went off to a party with a friend of mine who's from New Zealand, so my spotlight wouldn't be taken, and hit on the first moderately good looking girl I saw. Worked a treat. I got pretty hammered at this party and lost my accent halfway through the night, but nobody seemed to notice LOL I'd actually seen this girl before at a party I'd gone to before and she didn't look at me twice. On this occasion, as soon as she heard my accent, she was all over me. I didn't even have to try (although I did because it sped up the process). It annoys me so much.

Can somebody please explain this weird attraction to foreigners that all women seem to possess? Please?

As you may able to tell, I'm quite bored, but I NEED THIS QUESTION ANSWERED, OH WISE TUPEEPS.

It's not just girls it's guys. The amount of English folks I know who have been to America and had males and females all over them as soon as they hear the "James Bond Accent".

Straight away in bars they want to buy you a drink, chat to you, and ask if you are from London which seems to be the only English city Yanks are aware of LOL

Also foreigners seem to think all our men sound like William Regal and all our women talk like Liz Hurley. Note to foreigners some talk chavvy like Chloe Mafia (check her out on You Tube to see what I mean).

Yeah, it's not just girls. I'm a sucker for ANY accent, foreign or domestic.

I'll just as soon melt for a British accent as I will for a Southern drawl.

Women have those little fantasies. Men in uniform is another one, I assume stemming from all those movies & TV shows where the heroic hunky fireman/doctor/lifeguard etc rescues the woman and they go swanning off into the sunset.

Thats just my take though, you'd obviously need one of the 'TUP Bunnies' to explain further.

They don't like guys with one arm, or no penis as far as I'm aware. That's pretty different...

Heard a story about this guy.  He grew up in a small Iowa town.  A real average guy.  Average height, average build.  Not a klutz but not a great athlete.  Not a genius but not a moron either.  Everything about him was unremarkable and incredibly average.

The summer before he moved away for college, he decided he's tired of always been average and having nothing remarkable about him.  He doesn't have the time (or the money) to radically alter his appearance.  So he adopts a British accent.  From the moment he left home on a Greyhound bus, everything was pronounced with a British inflection.

This wasn't a corny Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins thing.  It was years of watching James Bond and BBC shows on PBS.  It sure wouldn't fool anyone from the UK.  But it was just enough for a midwestern college.

He was invited to all the parties.  He had girls of all sorts hitting on him.  He all the coolest guys wanting to be friends.  He even noticed his professors treating him special because they assumed he was smarter than the rest.

He never invented any elaborate lie to explain his British accent while living in Wisconsin.  This wasn't like a TV show.  So there was no double-life.  He didn't pretend to be a different person.  He still watched the same TV shows and movies he always liked.  He listen to the same music.  He was the same person---but with a British accent.

After the first term.  He lost interest in the bit.  On the bus ride home he decided to drop the accent.  He returned the second term without it.  Nobody ever asked him to his face what happened to the accent.  But he was no longer the center of attention.  And his social circle completely changed.
