I think the plan was always for Lesnar to win. At the time I think The Undertaker was unsure how many if any more Wrestlemania's he could work and WWE saw a opportunity to establish Lesnar as a near unstoppable force, in fairness it worked as since that win Brock has had a unbeatable aura around him so now a win over him really means something and could make a career for someone. Also I think Taker was maybe a bit tired of the whole streak thing and wanted a guy who is a legit bad ass to be the one who ends it, rumour has it the only other guy Undertaker has suggested be the one to end it was Kane which wouldn't make any sense.

To be honest Lenny, I wish they hadnt made the streak go on for so long because it was becomming far too important.
Remember in the year when Paul Bearer died, CM Punk won a match on Raw to face Taker at Mania.
It got where stars were fighting to earn a chance of facing him at Mania, and beating the streak. It was almost as important as winning the Champship title belt.

I wish they'd kept the streak alive as while I get that they wanted to establish Lesnar as a bad ass destroyer which they have, they could have found other ways to do that and fact is Brock is probably not going to be part of WWE long term and certainly never on a full time basis. My guess is once Brock has padded out his bank account enough he will call it a day. Would have made more sense to me to hand the streak ending bragging rights to someone who could have built a career off it, someone like Bray Wyatt or Roman Reigns.

Rumours are again circling that this year could be The Undertaker's last as a active wrestler; it's said he's in constant pain, but then we get this every year.

For years and years I thought Undertaker had lost at WM9. I wasn't watching wwe when the streak really became a thing. It wasn't until he was well over 10 wins that wwe started making a big deal out of it. But I could have sworn Giant Gonzalez beat him. Undertaker was squashed at WM9, its true but he picked up the win by DQ.

Lesnar became a legit threat by beating the streak, however for as much as I can't stand the Sora-esque (older TUPeeps will understand the reference) hardcore fans of Lesnar and for as much as I loved seeing Goldberg squash Lesnar, he wasn't the guy that should have beaten Lesnar for the first time since Lesnar beat the streak. Ambrose was the right guy to beat Lesnar for the first time after Lesnar beat the streak. Of course, Undertaker beat Lesnar at summer slam, but even so no one else until Goldberg returned had beaten Lesnar, and that could have and should have been played up by commentary. Ambrose could have been so much bigger had he beat Lesnar in their hardcore match at Mania.

However, I agree the streak should have been ended by someone like Bray Wyatt instead. I would have gone further back and said Mankind and Kane should have both gotten matches and victories over the Undertaker at wrestlemania, and then more recently Wyatt as well. It would have made for a story the flipside of the coin to Ric Flair's catch phrase. To beat the deadman, you gotta be the man. Mankind, Kane, and Wyatt all had that dark side thing going for them and if they were the only ones to have beaten the Undertaker at mania the run undertaker had at mania would look equally as impressive as it does now, if not more so, yet there would be 3 losses, and all of them do very dark and creepy characters (this is of course assuming Mankind was the heel Paul Bearer led Mankind and not the comedy Mr. Socko character).
