I'm absolutely loving the positive and negative feedback on Ring of Honor on the boards, and I'd like to see what people think about "What would you do to help ROH?" I've got some thoughts that I will share, but I want to hear what others think...

My ideas:

1. Eddie Edwards: I'm not a fan of Eddie Edwards.  I think, in ring, he's a good talent - but his charisma is horrendous.  Edwards is best served as a Tag Team Competitor.  Since the team division is suffering right now, I think sticking him with someone like Roderick Strong, with Truth Martini as the manager could be a solid heel tag team.  Let Martini get the heat, and let Edwards and Strong work as heels.  Edwards needs get a little rough around the edges - grow some facial hair and start wrestling like a heel.  It's obvious his mic skills won't do him any good, but his in-ring skills can get him over if done right.

2. Davey Richards: He's an arrogant prick, and ROH needs to utilize him in such a way.  Richards is in this weird 'tweener' state, but needs to just shine as a heel.  His mic skills are 'okay', but with practice, I think he can do well.

3. Pro Wrestling NOAH or AJPW: Both promotions are suffering right now, so they would benefit from a little exposure overseas.  I think ROH could benefit from some alliances overseas with Japan.  Personally, I think it would be very entertaining to see a specialty match like Great Muta vs. Kevin Steen.  For the lesser known NOAH or AJPW guys, put them in tag team matches with ROH talents - get them over the way you wish.

4. Womens Division: I think ROH would benefit from a Womens Division.  The market for Females is actually great right now.  Serena Deeb, Awesome Kong, Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, Winter - ROH can have their pickings and bring about a FUN Women's Division.  ROH needs charismatic Women though, not just wrestlers.  I would suggest snatching up Love, WInter, Serena and Kong initially - as they have a good mix of skill/charisma.  Later, if things go well, bring in someone like MsChif and Sky.

5. Attraction Matches: ROH really lacks in star talent, I think they can bring in the casual fans if they bring in some name talent for 1-2 shows every now and again.  They are doing this with Matt Hardy, and I think it's a smart idea.  If they do this every so often for big shows, I think ROH can benefit greatly.

Star talent is the main thing. ROH don't have those icons that represented Independent wrestling like they did in the past and have failed to produce guys like that again.

I would be down with some alliances with Japan though that won't boost rating numbers a whole lot in my opinion.

Work with any and every wrestling fed they could in order to get some bigger names on the ROH cards.

Ignore what the ROH-bots think is a good show and put on a wrestling show suitable for TV.

Stop pushing Jay Lethal, he sucks. Never have I seen a more overrated indy darling in my life. He brings nothing to the table.

Send Cornette far far away from the company.

Stop putting Davey Richards and his no selling at the top of the card.

Make Maria the face of ROH (in terms of marketing). A beautiful girl like that can sell people on alot of things.

Totally agree with the Maria part. She might not have been the best Diva in WWE but she is probably the most marketable worker they have on their roster because of her WWE past. You can use her to draw in new viewers, who can ultimately watch a show and tell themselves "Hey, Kevin Steen's a prick but I'm gonna tune in again to see what happens next" or "Damn, those Briscoes are crazy but they're fun to watch so I'm gonna come back again".

The hardest part sometimes is that most diehard fans think they know better than you what's best for the promotion but since they haven't been involved in the business, they're virtually clueless. That's the main problem with the ROHBots and it has lasted for the whole 10 years the promotion existed.

The only way I would get even remotely interested in them would be if they were to strike up some sort of talent share agreement with a major promotion, much like ECW did with WWE back in the day. TNA would be the best option as they have guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Austin Aries who would all receive a heroes welcome from ROH fans and would fit their product better.

Other than that ROH just need to add some top indy talent to their roster and massively increase their production values so they don't look like some bargain basement bingo hall promotion. This still wouldn't get me to watch their product but it would be a improvement. Trouble is ROH just don't have the resources to interest me and never will unless some idiot billionaire decides to invest in them.

Fold the company and start again under a new name.

Theres too much of a bad stigma attached to ROH, whether it be Feinstein and his kiddy fiddling, nobody watching the TV show or turning up at the gate, or just the mediocre roster of no-mark charisma black holes

It's beyond saving at this point. Look at their main guys, a Steve Blackman wannabe (Richards) and a fat ass slob who looks like one of their fans (Steen).

if it's the same people running it though, surely the same problems and stigmas will still be attached?

They need to change the whole formatting - it is filmed in what looks to be someones garage - the tv production is terrible and as JTB mentiomed - the roster is terrible so they need a new one. The storylines are non existant which makes it even less entertaining

It's never been a good show to watch and honestly don't think most 'supporters' ever even watched an episode, it was one of those rumours that spread like wildfire and the sheep-like nature of the IWC went along with it.

Ask any non-troll for their opinion on it and you'll get a generic response declaring their love for Samoa Joe vs Brian Danielson based on shit they read on Meltzers site passed off as their own opinion.

The 'ROH is real wrestling' movement was about as fraudeulent as the 'Hogan was a fantastic wrestler in Japan' one. Glad people are wising up to this bullshit, if it is seen as "copying JTB" then so be it.

The biggest problem they have is the shitty production values and the way the talent are used.

The booking is awful and panders FAR too much to the uber-smark fanbase, which causes finishes like two "I'MSOINTENSE" guys to shake hands before the match (so the smarks can say "OMG I know that's tradition 'in the business' and I know what it means!"), beat each other with 20 minutes of chain wrestling that doesn't tell any story, 9 million "karate/judo/ Daniel Bryan" kicks, 4 Canadian Destroyers, and one guy losing to a hard slap to the face. That doesn't need to happen. The wrestlers can chain wrestle and kick and do whatever as long as they are telling a captivating story, but that's not what is happening.

The ring/ show looks like it was filmed by a flip phone camera, and ever since they've been given a t.v deal by Sinclair I've seen nothing that changed it aesthetically from the CM Punk days. It looks like an indy fed, and therefore the perception of it is that it is an indy fed.
