I'm watching the first episode now on my TNT app right now. Cody vs Sammy just finished up, and I have to say the commentary with JR, Excalibur, and Tony Schavioni (how's that's spelled) is amazing. One match in and I think they're my favorite commentary team since the early 90s. The psychology of the commentary is so damned good

The production values spot on too. I'm not seeing any of the amateurish crap from previous outings.

The match was good nothing extraordinary, but not a single thing to complain about either.

I love that they keep talking about how wins and losses affect their future reference n the title picture.

Love that they appear to be going to have in ring interviews with a member of the commentary team too. Jericho interupted it but in the future I look forward to seeing those make a return to tv.

Kind of surprised they went to commercial break during Jericho's beatdown on Cody, but it's not a bad idea, really. So far as I type this they're done with two matches and they haven't cut to commercial during a match yet.

All I can say so far is that this is a top notch TV show. It is reminding me of Nitro in all the best ways.

EDIT: So I have now finished the show and I have to say it was very good. The debut of Jake Haggar was great. Obviously not on the level of CM Punk, but good enough for now given the shit talking Punk is doing lately.

Most importantly I am looking forward to seeing what happens next week. I'll definitely be tuning in for the foreseeable future.

WOW what a show (i havent watched NXT yet - saving that for tomorrow)

From the off, the crowd were really hot - the venue looked packed and as Rico has said above, the production is on point.

Cody v Sammy was a great opener. Sammy was an excellent heel, infact almost perfect. The showmanship and pulling Brandi in the way of a suicide dive was awesome. I have to say the commentary was awesome, far better than it has been at any of the events prior to this. The spanish fly spot was incredible and i really liked the finish. Fantastic opener. Wrestling is back bay bay!!!

Jerichos assault on Cody was excellently done. Brandi looked to be legit concerned - fantastic

Cutler v MJF is the next one on the show. MJF promo was excellent at getting him instant heat. Its easy to see how he is gna be a huge star. Tony getting a few TV-14 references in there by referring to MJF as a little prick, haha excellent. This was the perfect match to get MJF over as a huge heel. Submission finish with the typical heel tactics.

Loved the interview at ringside, was a nice touch

SCU look the real deal too, Scorpio Sky seems to be the biggest star out of the 3, it seems they may push him in singles competition after picking Kaz and Daniels to represent them in the tag tournament.

I love the Lucha Bros, most exciting tag team in the world for me.

Page v Pac is next up. This is flying by ive really enjoyed the show so far. This is a very hard hitting match and the crowd are so into it. These 2 need a long match at a PPV - the styles seem perfect for facing off against each other.  This was the best match ive seen Page in, his offense was excellent - varied. Typical heel tactic from PAC hitting the low blow to transition into the finish. Great match.

Nyla v Riho for the title is next. Britt Baker is on commentary for this one too. I love how they are having no time limit when its a title match which makes it feel that bit more important. Some brutal spots with them chairs. Riho is the female equivalent of Daniel Bryan in terms of underdog status - that close 2 count had the whole crowd on their feet. That was a great advert for the womens division of AEW. Baker v Riho if thats the next feud will be quality.

Nyla went mental afterwards attacking everyone which was entertaining.

Main event time. The Elite v Y2J and the former LAX. This match escalated very quickly with everyone getting involved early on. Omega is so entertaining in the ring, i like what they are doing with him in AEW and the focus on his pretty poor W/L record. Moxley got some pop when he came out to attack Omega. This was perfect to continue their feud. Loved the cleaner reference - theres been alot of talk about bringing that gimmick or something similar to AEW.  Fuck me - the dirty deeds through the glass table was absolutely insane. The heels made the most of the numbers game and got some great tg team offence in before picking up the win courtesy of the judas effect.

Now theres a huge brawl breaking out involving Cody, Sammy and Dustin.

HOLY SHIT its Jake Hager!!!!!

We the people chants echoing around the whole arena.

Wow that attack was awesome

What . A. Show

I'm not surprised, I've yet to see NXT but Dynamite was very very good.

I made a post somewhere on here that I expected NXT when it moved to TV, to have the same wrestling quality but with a bigger and more vibrant crowd. That is exactly what AEW offered last night it was my ideal wrestling show.

The matches, commentary, interviews, production  - the whole lot was bang on.

Watched the first episode of Dynamite and I enjoyed it a lot, a strong start from AEW. The production was good and the talent seemed to handle a live TV format pretty well, aside from a couple of minor botches in the matches everything went smoothly.

The criticism I would make though is that it was a good show but it wasnt the amazing ground breaking show that many were expecting. I definitely enjoyed it enough to keep watching for now at least but it didn't make me think wow this is so much better than WWE.

Highlights for me were PAC going over strong in a decent match and the Moxley/Omega glass table spot, that looked brutal, having it happen in the VIP area was a unique idea too.

Wasn't a fan of the Jake Hager appearance at the end, I have no problem with Hager being in AEW, hes a very good talent and I'm glad hes on their roster, but unfortunately he does have a WWE reject tag as he had several failed pushes there he just never got over at a top level before finally leaving. It would have been fine to have him debut in a mid-card position but throwing him straight out there with the top talent I feel was the wrong move. AEW need to avoid the mistake TNA made of hiring every WWE failure and then pushing them as a top star, how they used Hager gave the impression that they will be doing that exact same thing.

For now I'm willing to believe that AEW will use their "WWE rejects" better in 2019/2020 than TNA did in 2010+. For one, WWE's rejects from that era were mostly terrible, whereas today, there are a lot of guys that had a lot going for them who WWE just had no clue how to utilize like Cody, Moxley, Pac, Spears & Hager. I mean, let's keep in mind that Cody, the guy pretty much running the company was Stardust in WWE, and today he's one of the best guys in the business.

That said, they're really putting themselves out there using guys that didn't get over in WWE because if AEW fails to get those same people over on Dynamite, they'll quickly get that same TNA stigma.

The problem for me with Hager is that he had plenty of opportunities in WWE, he had several big main event level pushes and failed to get over each time, his most successful spell was probably his we the people gimmick which was very much mid-card all the way. I hope he can succeed in AEW but currently he does have that WWE jobber tag and hes not the guy AEW want showing up in the main event of their first show when fans were hoping for someone on the level of CM Punk.

Moxley and Jericho had successful runs in WWE so they belong in top positions in AEW, and even Cody while only a mid-card act in WWE he did gain a lot of recognition for his work in Japan and on the indie circuit before AEW launched.
Shawn Spears they are trying to reinvent as a character and he never really got the chance to prove himself in WWE so the jury is still out on him.

We dont actually know yet what Hagers role will be though.

For now i see him being Y2J's muscle and maybe once he is done fully with MMA we will see him more regularly and understand where he is going to fit on the card.

Not everyone can be top of the card and we now have a promotion with only 1 main mens title and we have: Cody, Moxley, Y2J, Omega, Pac, Page, Hager, MJF - all of which could be classed as being top - so its a pretty stacked title picture already and we've only had 1 show

Just finished watching Dynamite and it was great.

I've been critical of the tag and women's divisions and both looked pretty damned good tonight, and Moxley is starting to look Stone Cold. I quite enjoyed seeing him walk out on PAC during their tag match and costing them the match. The double bird followed by a kick to the gut and then the double undertook ddt just screamed Stone Cold in the best kind of way.

Honestly, I think Moxley could finally live up to the hype he has had since the debut of Dean Ambrose, and if he does AEW is going to grow in leaps and bounds.

Awesome episode and I still don't get the impression that aew is doing anything but just getting started. Once again I'm actually looking forward to next week's episode.

I enjoyed the stuff in the opening tag match with Lucha Bros taking out Daniels and Scorpio Sky impressed me in the match, but Best Friends are a couple of jobbers.

Jungle Boy and the little guy he was teaming with looked like low rent indie guys. Shame Luchasaurus got injured as I don't care for this team at all without him.

I still don't care about women's wrestling in AEW.

Moxley flipping off PAC was the best best part of their tag match.

The main event was good, Darby Allin doing high spots with his hands taped was crazy, really fun match.

For me its the same problem of there is simply not enough talent on the roster I care about and while the product has been good I'm still failing to see what AEW offers that WWE don't. At the moment its a more a case of they are not doing the things that WWE get horribly wrong but it's still early days, some of the characters have a more authentic feel as do the promos as of course unlike WWE there is very little scripting. But as I've said WWE are still the promotion to watch for the big angles and big stars and that's what keeps me watching. Right now AEW still hasn't won me over.
