Wow, I had no idea this match took place and in the WWE no less. Man I wish WWE Network would upload the earliest episodes of NXT after the rebooted it from reality show challenges to full on underground wrestling promotion.

How can you NOT want to see CM Punk & Seth Rollins vs the Kings of Wrestling??? This is f**king great!

So I am pretty sure that Rico has seen this match (as he said he went through every Lou Thesz match a while back ago); but it is worth a second look and maybe a look for others to see it as it is a true gem, Thesz vs Buddy Rogers for Thesz' NWA World Championship. Rogers is of course with manager Bobby Davis while Thesz (who was usually with Ed Strangler Lewis at the time) is seconded by his father. The date given is 1950.

In general, old time wrestling (real old time wrestling), at least for me, is an acquired taste. I consider this era to be the true golden age. The wrestling I grew up watching from the 70's & 80's is slower paced compared to the 00's or today. Yet of course I can be right at home watching a match from that era; and it seems more real to me. But the moves from the 50's & 60's are even more slow paced compared to that. Holds tended to stay applied for a while. But once one gets used to that pace, a good appreciation can be developed, and the viewer notices more hidden aspects.

That all being said, this match is more fast paced that I thought it would be. It starts off a fire (for the time) and while there's slower holds from time to time, anyone familiar with the era can tell that the action is actually more picked up than most matches for the time. Maybe it's because of the two absolute legends involved.

This match is a good showcase for why Rogers is one of the greatest heels of all time with his flamboyancy and interaction with the crowd. Plus I like his style in the ring (love his pile driver.) Thesz meanwhile displays his usual technical style but seems very dangerous with that style when the match gets a little heated.

Yes, I'm aware I just wrote four paragraphs on a match few will watch, and wrote such because of that as well.

Also, why is this thread no longer stickied? It's supposed to be stickied. Adders!!

I went through and watched a lot during a ticket wars season where I drafted only the guys from before the WrestleMania era, but I don't know that I've seen this match... It's midnight now, and I'm gonna go to sleep momentarily, and I might forget about this tomorrow, but I'd like to see this soon. It's a very different and by far the most legitimate looking style of Wrestling I've ever seen.

Fletch, have you ever watched this old stuff? It's a bit slow to begin with but once you get used to it, in a lot of ways it really is the best wrestling you'll ever find. Legit, legit, legit this stuff is. Obviously wrestling was much better protected back then and it shows. This is a sport.

Aye, I remember that Ticket Wars season (I had left the forum for a time but was watching from afar [a.k.a. lurking]) and was impressed with what you had done and glad that someone went in that direction. But aye, you took the words right out of my mouth just like I said above. Once a viewer becomes accustomed to the pacing you see so much within it, and it does indeed come across as more authentic like a real sport, not just in the wrestling hold for hold moves but in the more natural mannerisms.

When we agree we fully agree and when we disagree we fully disagree, lol.

Been watching a lot of women's wrestling lately when thinking about my Ticket Wars card and wanted to post this just to show how awesome the team of Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria is. It's a Woman's Tag Title match (from the first time the WWF had a Women's Tag Title), Velvet & Victoria vs "Cowgirl" Wendi Richter (just before she hooked up with Cyndi Lauper) & Peggy Lee.

It's probably the best example of Velvet & Princess as a team and shows why Velvet is my favorite women's wrestler of all time. It also shows how tough Richter was as a heel. It is worth watching.

Just another example of why, for a time, WCW was way the fuck better than WWF.
