Quote - The reason Tomko is done with New Japan (and recently jumped to Inoki's IGF) is due to the fact that NJPW decided not to renew his contract. New Japan did renew Giant Bernand's deal, but not partner Tomko's contract.

This is an odd decision in my mind (even if I don't know much about the company). Not long ago the two of them were tag team champions and so carrying a divison. So they must have been highly rated to be given the belt. So it's baffling why they wouldn't want to keep Tomko and even more so considering the press he gets in North America. Usually people get released before the contract runs out. But in this case they kept someone to the end, that they didn't want.

Maybe New Japan felt that because of his contract with TNA, Tomko wouldn't be that committed to the promotion so since Giant Bernard works there fulltime, they felt it was better to not renew Tomko's contract.

I don't wanna say that New Japan shot themselves in the foot, since they worked a talent exchange deal with TNA recently but it's gonna be interesting to see where will TNA turn to build Team Japan for the next X Cup.

- To follow-up on an earlier item, the reason why Tomko is finished with New Japan Pro Wrestling is because they were not going to renew his contract because they are struggling financially, reports Dave Metlzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Tomko was said to be disappointed because he really enjoyed working in Japan for the company. According to Meltzer the only person that New Japan Pro Wrestling has a commitment too as a top foreigner is Tomko’s tag team partner Giant Bernard (A-Train from WWE).
well it seems many companys now are having financial probelms, its a shame because tomko did seem to really enjoy working there, but at least he is being used well in tna. as for the x cup, i dont know if they will do one this year, if so it will probally just end up tnas american team wining again. ive only seen two of them, both times tna/america won, has any other country even won before? if not, then whats the point?
Qouth the draven, nevermore.

Maybe Tomko is still used for Team Japan, and he and Bernard get paired up together and along with Curryman carry the team to victory so for the first time ever, the winners are not Team TNA (or Team Canada if they've ever won it).

Team Canada won the first X Cup. Team TNA won the 2nd.

He clearly stated backstage at his last TNA taping that he was returning to Japan. So, a return to New Japan shouldn't be ruled out, as well as signing with All Japan.

Yeah, but he also visited WWE not too long after being released, so he might be looking at what his options could be like over there as well.

Yeah, he left WWE in good terms so my guess is that Vince is probably willing to take him back.

Yeah, especially since, like Gail Kim, Tomko's stock has risen via his time in TNA. (Though there's also Japan to thank for that.) So he may have a good shot at winning gold in WWE this time.

I, especially, would be much interested in seeing Tomko take on the Undertaker after being billed strongly enough to stand a chance.
