Quote From Jim Ross Website
  • Jackson1256 Asks: Any ideas why WWE hasn't used Tyson Kidd in such a long time? As a student of the Harts, it seemed he had so much potential to be a star like Owen or Bret.
    J.R.'s Answer:

Beats me...I really enjoy Tyson Kidd's work.

Lots of big names in the business really rate him, but management don't which is the important thing.

He came back from his serious injury to a good pop on Raw and then quickly got put back on the shows few care about.

He seems like the type just happy to be there rather than the kinda guy who will annoy management by constantly asking them what he needs to do to reach the next level.

Yeah, there's a lot guys in the biz that rated him high. Including a lot of older guys. But Kidd is probably a good company man that doesn't make a big stink. He's got a good deal going, he gets to travel with his wife and is making good money. So on a certain level, he's got nothing big to complain about.

However... that being said, there's still a lot more that WWE could be doing with him. For example, his team with Justin Gabriel. Management threw them together as a filler-jobber team... but the fans started getting into them. Organically they started to gain a small following. They could both pull off a good high-spot finisher that got the crowd to pop. Management didn't seem willing to throw any support behind them. And when Kidd came back from his injury, management didn't even try to see if they still had that spark together.

Sadly, most guys have to bitch and moan if they want to go further. And if they don't... then management figures they are happy with jobbing.

Quote WWE is planning on turning Tyson Kidd into a masked wrestler. He’s reportedly already had a mask designed by a man who makes Lucha Libre masks. The feeling is that Kidd is a talented wrestler but they’ve marginalized the Tyson Kidd character for so long that there’s nothing they can do with him past the preliminary level.

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

I think he's worked a couple of matches as El Local #2.

With Rey Mysterio semi-permantently injured, WWE has been trying to find someone to take his place as kid-friendly merchandise mover. They've accepted the importance of having a masked man on the roster, if only to sell replica masks. So we've seen Sin Cara, Sin Cara Dos, Los Matadores, El Torito, re-re-masked Kane, Kalisto & Elocal down in NXT, and even Erick Rowan's sheep mask.

They are right about having damaged "Tyson Kidd" as a character, so a change is in order to do anything with him. Hopefully his masked character won't be presented as being a lucha star, WWE already has enough fake Mexicans on the roster.

It's a shame they've not pulled the trigger and had Ric Rod portray El Local on a long term basis. He's obviously only being used with Kalisto to get him used to the 'E' style and possibly help with translations?

They do need to repackage Kidd though totally agree there, but putting him under a mask isn't really the way to go for my liking.

Yeah he needs repackaging because as plain old Tyson Kidd he will never be accepted as anything more than a jobber on the main roster.

I don't have a issue with a masked gimmick, as mentioned though not a fake Mexican though as that's been done and done again, wouldn't mind something cartoony like the Max Moon character from back in the 90's.

His profile is abit higher now thanks to Total Divas, so him appearing on Raw should be a regular thing now.

He's not going to get away from the 'Natties Husband' chants though.

It can't be easy for him to stand out for his undoubted in ring ability when people want to mention who he's banging all the time.

He's a heel Adders, it is part of his gimmick. Did you notice the crowd picked right up on it too? When he grabbed Naty to use as a shield, the crowd chanted the same thing I was thinking "Randy Savage!"

Married couple, man as heel woman as a very much loved face makes for good chemistry and good storytelling opportunities.

I like his gimmick last week when he was just checking his Phone and stuff.  and not caring about the Match Nattie was in.

Should be able to watch RAW in about 15mins so will be more up to speed then but I hope he plays in ring heel as well as he does outside
Y'know what?....It's really fucking hot here in Africa. Who knew?....Well me, I have been doing this for almost 5 years

I know but no matter if he's face, heel, main event, jobber etc he will probably forever be known as Natties husband despite his talent.

I'd say he was involved in the match of the night. It was really good.

I hope Nattie turns heel at some point rather than continuing too long with the stale seen many times before gimmick of a couple not being on the same page.

I've liked what I've seen from his heel gimmick on NXT, its proved he does have personality and I think he can be a great asset in the mid-card with his excellent in-ring skills.
He's paid his dues working in lame tag-teams and as a singles jobber for long enough now and deserves a run with at least one of the mid-tier titles.

I like the idea of a Nattie heel turn as well but I think WWE like her as a babyface as it fits with her storylines on Total Divas more and she'll always get some cheers due to her Hart family heritage.

Nice to see that Total Divas has boosted the career slightly of at least one member of the male roster in Tyson, it probably helps fans relate to the talent more as they are able to see them as human beings.
