I can't believe it's a forgotten about idea last spoke of two years ago. Anyway a link to Amazon......

http://www.amazonkdp.com/

Look how easy it is. You design a book cover (LSW could do that), upload the book with a title and Amazon take like 35% of each sale allowing you to sell on their site for free. You don't have to gamble on the idea with an upfront fee because you only pay out if you sell copies. With it being a digital book to download we won't have to publishing costs from an hard copy of it either.

Even if we make the book a cheap five pounds that's 1.75 for Amazon and 3.25 for us per copy sold. All profit can then be pumped into better advertising for us to bring in many more posters here. Being part of the 2nd book (if whatever our first is does well) is in itself a positive for people wanting to sign up here to get involved.

Some ideas have been given previously in this thread. Others can be added to it.

It wouldn't cost any of us anything for the idea to happen.

We'd just have to put it together in essay form with chapters for when it's uploaded to purchase.

Well I'd quite like for us to finish a Superheros thread and have that in there

Yes. But obviously if we sell nothing we it doesn't cost us anything.

It's not like when you open a professional sellers account on Amazon or Ebay and get charged a monthly fee.

I can't see anyone out of our posters being interested in the Superheros stuff or TWs stuff. Especially when they can read it all for free if they wanted as it's already visible on the forum.

If you're going this route surely the first option should be a bit about the forums history then a bit of stuff on the regular members. You can easily branch out from there.

We could have a little foreword page written with abit of a short history about us.

The hardest part seems to be finding a topic or topics to write about that can be agreed on.

It would just be like writing a post on here but more Pac Man essay style.

With exception of some users on this site, do you honestly believe anyone would be interested in reading about people who post on a wrestling forum?

If it was to go ahead we would have to think about something people would actually be interested in reading about

So I have e-books published via Amazon from back when I first started to get paid for my work. They're far from great sellers but they give me an okay income. I haven't really promoted them since I started writing for PWTorch at the beginning of the year but I will come back to it. I know the system very well; it's absurdly easy but when it comes to actually getting sales you'll struggle for several reasons.

Firstly; forums are captive audiences and this place isn't exactly thriving, is it? So how do we market? I have plentiful experience with this and we do between us (I'm speaking purely myself and Andrew given that I don't know if the rest of you are on Twitter) have a sizable market to promote to. If everyone was behind it and we pushed tweets at the right time using the right hashtags we could get the word out there.

The problem, of course, is content. As seems to be all through this thread, and has been rightly pointed out, nobody's going to want to read a book from a forum other than die hard members of the forum (of which there are, put simply, slim to none)

What we do have is varied and talented minds who are open to different ideas, willing to debate and very capable of putting together cohesive arguments as to the what and the why.

This forum has the answer. What we need is the question.

If we can come up with a question worth the answering, that people will be interested in reading, and slap the right names on it (you get sales as much by author name as content) then we can make this a big deal and the forum with it.

'The Death Of Kayfabe' was a book that sold. A football writer for The Guardian has a book out on tactics and it sells. Even if you only get say 10 sales you haven't lost anything other than time.

If we can all agree to at least give time then I think we can make this work.
