The Rock started in Hollywood younger than Cena but he was around the same age when he solidified himself as a blockbuster action movie star.

Cena does seem to have a look and personality that make him a natural fit for comedy more so than action, I watched the comedy flick Blockers the other day that he starred in and was actually quite impressed with his performance especially this early in his movie career. All that said I can still see him becoming a big name in big budget action films as well. Would be kind of ironic if Cena and The Rock ended up co-starring in a movie together but would also be good to see two big names from the wrestling business succeeding in Hollywood as it may change the perception of the wrestling business out there.

I think that Cena is going to be a comedy star with the occasional drama film but I don't see him being a bonafide action star in Hollywood he's got maybe 12-15 years of being an action star at best he's already in his 40s.

I wonder if he will be able to make a name for himself in Hollywood? He is much older than The Rock was when he first got started. He does have a few decent movies and roles under his belt in triple A movies so that's a plus, but it seems kind of too late for him to become the next action movie star like Dwayne Johnson, so where does he fit???

Plus... what does WWE get out of it? They don't own rights to his legal name do they? I would think not, so I'm not sure how WWE would make money off him doing movies, except through some ancillary publicity.

Quote John Cena is expected back on WWE TV for only a couple of shows, perhaps one or two Raw and Smackdown shows, before he is back filming for another movie beginning January 20. The film shooting also means that Cena will miss the 2019 Royal Rumble, which will once again mean he has no direct path to WrestleMania 35.

Hardly worth him coming back for such a short period of time.

I know he's back from today for house shows, but why bother coming back just for a month?

He might as well have a decent holiday before he makes his next movie.

I'm assuming that Cena's dumb hair has to do with a movie role he is currently in, and nothing more... Aside from all the hubbub over his hair, I'd nothing else to discuss when it comes to Cena.

I don’t think he should be criticised for doing what The Rock did, after all Cena has had a much longer run as the top guy in WWE than the likes of Rock, Austin and Hogan all did. Those guys were only on top for maybe 5-6 years full-time while Cena has done it for well over a decade.

Using him in a attraction role is smart at this stage of his career, it allows him to do his tv and movie work and keeps his value high in WWE while also allowing younger guys the spotlight on a full time basis.

Haha yes , 6th move is a bit much but I’m not sure John wants to wrestle full time anymore. There are plenty of superstars for him to feud with. Cena v Reigns in a long feud would drive the haters crazy.

He's shown up for the glorified house shows there's been no mention of the squash he took at WrestleMania and he was in the ring for all of 16 minutes total and majority of that was with triple h.

Surely there's some kind of storyline he could do either on Raw or smackdown there's plenty of guys on the roster to work with.

And that 6th move of doom I know it's troll but no god no it's horrible let it never be used again.

John Cena back in WWE just for the big shows. Doing what he said he would never do, a part time taking up time for full time superstars. I've never had a problem with John. I think he's a good hearted guy and was great for the sport. Adults just hated him much like Roman now cause of the push WWE gave him. New haircut, same charisma. Good to see him back but with all the talent WWE has wht bring him back along with HBK and other veterans. No faith in the new talent to carry a show now ?

Quote John Cena is set to make his return to in-ring competition for the WWE as he is slated to work the upcoming live event in Shanghai, China. He is also advertised for the upcoming Superstar Show-Down event in October.

Cena, who is not advertised for any other dates other than the ones listed above, wrote the following:

The 6th move of doom.
Ready for #WWEShanghai.
Sept 1st.

— John Cena (@JohnCena) August 3, 2018

This is the norm for Cena now, just to do the bigger shows now and then.

China is a billion plus populated country, so obviously E want Cena in their capital as part of it.

Doesn't look like Summerslam will be happening for him though.
