Doesn't really mean shit though, the week earlier the ratings were basically the same as they were this week. Next week will tell the tale.

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live did 2,603,000 viewers. This is up from the 2,119,000 viewers the show did last week. The show was headlined by a WWE Title match between AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal.

SmackDown ranked second in the top 150 shows on cable for the night. Here are the viewership numbers for the show this year

1/3/17: 2,596,000

10/17/17: 2,320,000

10/31/17: 2,119,000

11/7/17: 2,603,000

So night one and the title change adds half a million. Up to AJ now to maintain that figure or push it towards three million.

UK shows because of tape delay usually mean a decrease from the week before, so this is impressive even though it is a major title change.

They had one three million show this year and it surprisingly wasn't the one following Wrestlemania, but the week after that.

Quote Friday's WWE Smackdown drew a 1.85 rating with 2.41 million viewers, slightly down from the previous week.
It's hard to get energized to even watch SmackDown these days. The big story stuff is kept on Raw. The lack of brand separation means that there's nobody that can only be seen on SD. It's not like when Edge was the headliner; if you wanted to see Edge you had to watch SD because he wasn't going to be Raw.

They need Ziggler back to save them ......

In all honesty though even throughout the tour of Europe - the WHC has spent more time on raw than smackdown, the tag champs have spent more time on raw, the US champ and IC champ have done nothing, Ortons been booked poorly .... other than Mark Henry - What reason at this minute in time has any one actually got to watch smackdown?

Quote Last week's episode of WWE SmackDown drew a 1.78 cable rating with 2.44 million viewers, the least watched-watched Friday SmackDown of the year.
But was probably still the highest rated regular show on SyFy.

The show wasn't bad. But it was a go-home show that offered no big surprises. There was also no NBA playoff games, so WWE can't even use that excuse.

I'm curious to see if this becomes a trend or not.

the last Smackdown of 2012 pulled a 1.9 cable rating.

so, a pretty good showing really.

Cena's appearance couldn't improve ratings, would more advertisement have made a difference?

Exactly.

WWE uses the live Raw to reveal their big surprises.  While SD is left with the derp moments.  We don't even get the regular good wrestling match anymore.
