Quote source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

-- Last week's edition of Impact set the company’s all-time audience record on 12/4 with 1.8 million viewers, beating out in total viewers, both episodes of Ultimate Fighter as well as the 12/2 ECW, even though all three episodes drew a higher rating than Impact. Impact did a 1.18 cable rating with a 0.91 in Males 18-34 and 0.89 in Males 35-49. Its greatest audience gain over usual was in the Males 50+ demo as the show drew a 1.20. In segment-by-segment notes, the Samoa Joe vs. Booker T match lost a slate of viewers. The match lost 46,000 viewers. "ODB's Angle" with Taylor Wilde & Roxxi, as well as backstage promos featuring Team 3-D with Joe and Beer Money trying to get Abyss drunk gained 76,000 viewers. The mixed tag match featuring Christy Hemme & AJ Styles vs. Awesome Kong & Scott Steiner gained 30,000 viewers. The X Division tag match featuring Eric Young, Consequences Creed & Jay Lethal vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir, Jimmy Rave & Sonjay Dutt gained 30,000 viewers. More backstage stuff including a "Sarah Palin" promo with The Beautiful People, "Rough Cut" with LAX, and another segment of Abyss getting drunk gained 46,000 viewers and did the show's peak rating at 1.25. Following the backstage segments, the ratings sank. The big promo segment featuring Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle & Rhino lost 92,000 viewers. The Rhino vs. Sting main event match was the big loser of the night, losing a whopping 137,000 viewers to finish at a 1.10 rating.

* The audience gain in over 50s is not surprising when so many guys not much younger are being pushed.

* At least ODBs Angle gained some viewers this time. Maybe people are warming to it.

* Notice how segments involving the Main Event Mafia always seem to LOSE viewers......

* If the main event hadn't lost so many viewers, the show might have got a good chance of reaching 1.2 again.

I'm watching the last 30 or so minutes of this and just seen the Brother Ray beatdown and those two quacks announcing said this is the worst beatdown they've ever seen in TNA.  Ha!  That should say that this company will nowhere near the realms of WWE.  Even with WWE being rated PG these days, they have worse beatdowns that that.  Mick Foley should take some videofootage of some of his stuff and show them what a true beatdown looks like as he's taken several in his career.  Two cases being the one from Evolution and another one would be in the empty arena match with The Rock. Oh and one more would be at the Royal Rumble, I believe, with The Rock also. Yes, I know that's WWE stuff but still, the one of Brother Ray doesn't even come close to these.

Good grief, if TNA sets the Knockouts division around Christy Hemme, they are in such trouble cause she is horrible.  Terrible finisher she has.  What they should do is ban everybody from around the ring during Hemme's and Kong's match at Genesis and let Kong beat her senseless.  Kong does not need anyone to help her.  that was ridiculous to have those two she hangs around with interfere in her match at Final Resolution.

This should an interesting match with Sting and Nash against Joe and AJ since Sting seems to catch a case of the trots everytime MEM does a beatdown on somebody these days.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Foley is working for the Mafia behind the scenes?  The way Borash was talking to him and his responses make it seem like that is what he's doing.

I like the way they are doing this match.  Two refs and they are letting them fight instead of insisting one guy from each team be outside the ring on the ring apron.  Nash was in the corner and Joe elevated AJ onto Nash and he got over the top of the cage for AJ and Joe to win but that leaves joe in the ring with Sting and Nash to gget his ass kicked.  AJ tries to come in and Nash smashes his face with the cage door.  Somehow while I was typing that, Joe managed to take down Nash and as the MEM were trying to come in, he took down all of them but it got to be too much as they regained their bearings and Scott Steiner locked the cage back and kept the key and they beatdown Joe while Sting and AJ were on the outside.  Chairs were in the ring and so were pipes and the MEM used them on Joe at one point trapping his arm in the chair and smashing it.  Show ended with MEM still beating down Joe and fending off the Frontline from crawling up the cage and entering it.

Damn, that was a lot of stuff to go down for just seeing 30 minutes worth of the show.

* I wasn't happy that Kip doing the DX crotch chop was blanked out. Why have him do it if you aren't going to show it?

* MEM were in too many segments. Less is more. Let some of the other wrestlers get more viewing time.

* Cornette actually got used better than he's been in recent times and yet did an heel action by giving Bashir his belt back.

* I'm bored of hearing about who is suicide? It doesn't interest me and the gimmick will fail, mark my words.

Sadly Cornettes days in TNA might be numbered, give him the book i say!

I'm very confused about Mick Foleys role.  It would make the no sense to have him in the Mafia, even as a heel he has never been that sort of character, it would be the right move to have him back up the frontline, and feature him in run-ins and interview segments.

One thing TNA needs to start doing is not starting nor ending shows with a segment/promo.

Have a match kick off the show, and have a match end the show. It gets a little frustrating knowing I have to wait about 15 minutes before I get to see a match I didn't even like.

* Why did Jeff say he's lost for words and than speak words for a couple of minutes?

* Why does Foley continue to speak about his WWE past when he's suppose to be trying to build TNA?

* Foley just isn't the same when he's angry and shouts. Not one of his better promos.

* Having Jarrett in the background all upset made sense after what had just happened to one of his best friends.

I don't know Foleys promo as Cactas Jack was pretty gripping, and they were from a angrey point of view quite ofton.
Jarrett should be kepted off TV for some time, so that the rubber match with Angle would really mean it(Slamiversy is when i'd have it.)

Impact the last few weeks has led to me boycotting TNA, their are far to many bad promos and not enough in ring action and this past week with the MEM doing a blatant rip off of the NWO by taking over the show was ridiculous and i actually switched off less than half way through.

Im just gonna stick to watching their ppv's unless things rapidly improve.

I honestly thought MEM taking over impact was hilarious even if it was an NWO ripoff. The matches weren't great but Nash & Booker - I mean Chet Lemon & Black Snoooooow XD - commentating made it amazing.

Booker.T's commentary was partly why i switched off! He just annoyingly rambled and i was glad when Steiner briefly replaced him. Nash was fairly quiet by comparison.

The main problem for me is still that TNA are just trying to hard to imitate WWE, TNA should accept that as things stand they cannot compete with WWE, they dont have the same financial muscle, the mainstream appeal or the depth in their talent roster.

TNA do have some fantastic talent and they have done certain things very well such as the Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle feud, the booking of their cage match at Lockdown last year was expertly done.

They need to focus more on things like that, that they can actually do well, they can also take advantage of WWE's PG ratings by trying to appeal to the adult audience more, they may not become a serious rival for WWE but they can be a refreshing alternative.
