Quote USA Network has talked of wanting Raw to increase to three hours in the fall. The belief is that is guarantees the network one extra hour of very high ratings every week, thus enabling them to maintain their status of being the most watched network on cable television The thought process being the move is that if Raw starts at 8 p.m. more often, people will get used to tuning into Raw at that time, and it will lead to higher ratings in the second hour in particular. They also made the suggestion of Steve Austin and Undertaker being regulars on the show, even if they can't wrestle. On the WWE front, they aren't too keen on making Raw a three hour show, every single week. They think this is the last thing they need. Although, if they go through with the move, they'll likely get a rate increase from USA.

I part agree with this and part of me also doesn't. I have wanted a three hour Raw every week for ages. I know some will say the product will suffer, but this is how I look at it. People complain now that matches aren't long enough, but with a three hour show we would have the chance to see many longer matches. It would give the fans a chance to see a PPV size show on free television and free up more airtime to build up other wrestlers and the next PPV. WWE would also make more money from it. I don't agree with Undertaker or Austin being on Raw regularly though.

no fucking way! i think it would be great to do this, only if they increase ppv's to 4 hours, seeing as all ppv's are tri branded not, it wont have to much of an extra toll on the raw superstars cause they can fill up the extra time with more smackdown and ecw matches, also include more title matches and something that i think should happen every ppv, is a tri banded triple threat with a superstar from each brand fighting for a title shot on thier brand. as for this one and a half rumour, if this happens then ill fire bomb wwe headquaters!
Qouth the draven, nevermore.

I see a three hour Raw happening and also like the idea of four hour pay per views. Impact is going to be two hours later this year and so what better way for Vince to show WWE is the number one then pissing on their bonfire by adding an extra hour themselves? There's enough talent on the brands now to make regular four hour pay per views work as well and would be a good incentive to fans with the higher price they charge for events these days. It might be too long for some people, but it's not like they have to watch every last minute of it.

Quote It looks like as of this week, the chances of RAW going to three hours in the fall are pretty slim. It was rumored this Summer that the USA Network wanted RAW to go to three hours.

That would be a shame because some of the better shows this year were the ones that went an extra hour. If it went to three hours I wouldn't mind as much about people coming back when they feel like it like Austin, Foley etc. It doesn't seem like WWE are going to bow to the pressure from the executives from USA Network. Like i've said before, they could even get rid of Heat altogether and that way they won't have extra time to fill up. It's not like Heat is important anyway.

It is a shame that RAW wouldn't be 3 hours long. If it were it'll reduce the amount of squash matches and also some of the wrestlers that are reduced to wrestling on Heat and that will there chance to wrestle on RAW properly.

Quote Dave Meltzer of Wrestlingobserver.com is reporting that there is talk of Raw expanding to three hours when TNA iMPACT! moves to Monday nights on what will most likely be 3/1. TNA has not decided between an 8 or 9 pm start time but either way and Raw expansion may be in the cards. USA has wanted Raw to be three hours since they returned to the network in 2005 but Vince and Stephanie were both always against. USA may now get their wish.

* Been rumoured for the past two and a half years but looks pretty likely now.

* My views haven't changed one bit since my opening post in the topic back in 2007.

* Creative wouldn't get much extra workload if they just extended matches instead of adding more skits.

Three hours of Raw could either give more good talent to showcase their abilites better or be overkill... depending on what creative guns for, matches or skits.

I'm not sure this is a good thing. Considering their material isn't that good at the moment, I think it would get boring and predictable if they added more segments to the show. Like Steve, the only positive aspect of another hour is giving the younger guys to showcase their talent. They should just stick with the two hours for the time being and use the three hours maybe when a PPV comes up on that Sunday.
