Question. Maybe my memory is failing me, but I was watching WWE 24/7, and I saw the debut of the Undertaker at the Survivor Series many years ago. I clearly remember seeing that live at the time, and correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the Undertaker originally announced to the crowd as "Kane the Undertaker"? If so, this has been edited by WWE. I was wondering if you could clarify this for me. Is it possible they quickly dropped the Kane part of the name, and then recycled it later for a new character? - Rowdy Ron

I think upon further review, the officials decided to simply go with "The Undertaker" w/o the name. I don’t think there is anything wrong with your memory.

well intresting, it would make sense that they used the name on kane after because he is supposed to be undertakers brother, or half brother anyway, anyone know if they are acturally half brothers? i was never sure seeing as if it was just part of the storyline wouldnt they just make them full brothers?

At Taker's debut, Ted DiBiase announced him as just "The Undertaker", but for a few months at house shows & squash match TV tapings, he was announced as "Kane the Undertaker", before WWE finally decided to just go with the name "The Undertaker".

Jim Ross Website: Hello JR!
Just got a quick question for you, has the undertaker officialy ever tapped out ????? On July 4, 2002 Smackdown! Kurt angle made the undertaker tap while getting pinned. Technicaly udnertaker only hit the ground once b4 the 3 count but the match was declared a Draw. SO does that mean undertaker officialy tapped out? has the undertaker ever tapped out? Thank you mr.jr

I honestly do not recall. Can any one help us with this one? If I was forced to answer I would say no.

well thats a point, that incident was the only time i can recall and of course it was filled with contraversy, because it creates cash remember. Wink but i guess there has to be someone out there who has watched the undertaker through out the years that should know or not.

Qouth the draven, nevermore.

From Jim Ross Website............

Quote JR, Do you think we will ever see the Undertaker open up more on the mic? I don’t expect American Badass type promos but at least a little more straight forward, impromptu stuff like he did in the Attitude era. He’s my all time favorite, but saying "Rest in Peace" after every time he talks gets a little repetitive. Joe Schmo

I think the current Undertaker persona is what it is and isn’t likely to ever drastically change.

I would like Undertaker to cut more decent promos as well. It's not like we don't know he can do it. Saying rest in peace so often, gets boring in the end. There's only so many times you can watch him roll his eyes into the back of his head etc, before it gets repetitive. I don't think him talking more will go against his character. We have all heard him talk before and if anything it will broaden his on screen persona. Although i'm happy he stands alone and doesn't have his own faction.

Jim Ross Website: Why does Michael Cole continue to refer to the Undertaker’s submission hold as "a hold no one has ever seen before." With the popularity of MMA most fans recognize the hold as a triagle choke. The hold resticts blood flow to the brain, but does not cause bleeding from the mouth as it has been portrayed as doing on WWE programming lately. It is also a hold the Undertaker has used in the past. Check out Now Way Out from 2003, he uses it on The Big Show.

That’sapparently amistake on Cole’s part, but he maybe referring to the WWE specificallyand not including the MMA world in his statement. Or it may be what he is told to say.

yeah, it looks pretty good the bleeding from the mouth but most the time you know its staged. its a pretty good submission hold, but i prefer him just using his 3 impact finishers. (chokeslam, last ride and tombstone)

How does the fan know that it doesn't cause bleeding to the mouth? I'm sure it could do, as the throat area is a delicate part of the human body and so won't take too much to wreck. This fan has a good memory that's for sure. I remember myself seeing this move being done a few years ago by Undertaker, but no way would I have known just how many years ago or the event it took place at. Even if Cole had mentioned WWE in his fact statement, he would have obviously still been wrong.

Taker has tapped out before, although the match ended in a draw, as he also pinned his opponent at the same time, it was to Kurt Angle in July 2002, Angle ironically used the same submission hold Taker uses now, the Triangle Choke.

a pretty good look at the undertaker choke run as of late, i quite like the hold, but its true that in wwe choke are ilegal, but aparently they only noticed recently lol. i expect undertaker to use the hold again, this sunday, then to be suspended or something like that, untill they want him back, or maybe just drop him out of the title picture for a while.

It's why I've always thought Taker has had some kind of surgery on his face, now I'm no woman, but he seems to have become a better looking man as he's got older...
