To strengthen Raven's claim, there's Pickadilly Circus (London's equivalent to Times Square), Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Palament building, and the Tower of London.

you should take tower of london off your list. thats a royal building. crown jewels, her majesty's fortress and all that.

the royals bring in tourism, its ignorant to argue that they dont.

no ones denying they arent a uselessbunch of toffs, who live off our money and do very little for us. but they do add to tourism.

Tower of London is/was also a prison and place of torture.
Shut your mouth and know your role, you damn Jabroni!

My father-in-law has traveled to London several time for business.  Everytime he gets back, some moron in his office always asksif he saw the Queen.  Nobody has ever said anything about Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, Big Ben or anything else.

Most people I know think of pizza when you say Piccadilly Circus.   But that's life in the Midwest for you.

I love this idea people have that the Queen just sits in the International terminal at Heathrow, saying hello to passers by as they get off their flights LOL

I don't hate them but not a royalist either. While they cost a lot they also bring in a shitload of cash through tourism.

I think the royals are better than they have ever been. The last generation were a bit snobby (like Princess Anne, Prince Charles etc), but their offspring are great.

Seeing the likes of Princess William, Prince Harry, Eugenie (hot), Zara Phillips etc in the papers they are just normal everyday young people who go out and get wasted.
Im English born and bred but I have little to no interest in the Royals, to be honest Im not even sure who a couple of the people you mention there are. Embarrassed

People do not go to London to see Buckingham Palace, I love visiting London because of all the sights and attractions, but I've never had any desire to see the palace when I'm there, and from what I've seen most tourists/visitors think the same, people are way more interested in sights like the dungeons, Maddam Tussauds, The London Eye, Picadilly Circus, the museums and loads of others.

I'm interested in the history of the Royal Family, particularly Henry VIII and other historical figures from that sort of era, but todays Royals just bore me.

Kate looks a QILF and there is actually a Facebook group with over 160,000 people in about it LOL Her sister Pippa probably looks even hotter. Honourable mention to Princess Eugenie as per usual. Mike Tindel looks a joker as per usual. Top bloke. Wish i'd had some money on the Queen wearing a yellow hat. Yes bookies were taking bets on anything royal today.

I'm not a royalist but at least a wedding is an happy occasion with a feel good factor. Plus it's a bank holiday as well. It's a nice change to all the morbid stuff in the press about wars, natural disasters, the recession etc. Also it's been over 30 years since the last major royal wedding so they don't happen often enough to complain about. BBC, ITV, Channel 5 have 3/5 main channels covered for coverage.

I checked a bit on E Entertainment simply because Dermot O Leary was presenting and I like him. Mainly though i've watched on CNN as I like Piers Morgan. Still don't understand why Cat Deeley has managed to crack the states though. CNN could have found someone better to sit alongside Piers surely.

Today on the news I heard a woman who has been covering major news stories of all kinds on TV3 for the last ten years at least use the term 'hot goss' when talking about the top story on the news today. It wasn't Libya, not Japan, not the fact that a New Zealand sports team had a great chance of winning an Australian competition for the first time ever across all sports (which they did, btw), not the havoc in the Southern US, not even the flooding in the Central North Island. It was hot goss.

I hate the fucking royals.

Seriously, is Pippa a real name?  Or is that a nickname of some sorts.  My sister-in-law is expecting now. I suggested Pippa for a name and they looked at me like I was on crack.

(My brother-in-law thought I meant Pippen.  As reference to NBA great Scottie Pippen.  He assumed it was joke because of the US boom in the name Jordan following the success of Michael Jordan.)
