The N64 was one of Nintendo's best systems. That was pure opinion there and everyone else probably is just gonna leave this Nintendo Fanboy (well, I do own a PS2) to his little post, but I have my reasons for loving it. The biggest one for me is that the system had a few "ahead of its time" features like the analog stick, the staple of all consoles today. The way the controller was laid out was pretty unique too in that there were to spots you could hold your hand (the middle one being particularly good for first person shooters). And finally, it had some my personal favorite and possibly greatest videos games to date: Smash Bros, WWF No Mercy, Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, and so many more. And while it may be thanklessly sitting in a box at home due to my PS2 ocuupying my TV set, I still roam garage sales and classic game store looking for my favorite N64 games in there colored or grey cartridges.

I gotta say, that Goldeneye is a game that I would still pickup and play today for the N64. I never owned the system, but my friends and I played 007 til all hours of the night at other people's houses.

one thing that i realllllllly didnt like about the N64 - the control pads. doesnt matter what game playing, the pad would always mess it up cuz there was just too many damn buttons everywhere, you needed atleast 3/4 hands to use the god damned thing!

Lucky for me I have 3/4 hands(hehe), but you are right Phyl in that some games took the controls too far (Banjo Tooie has you tapping and holding the same button to do different tasks). Since my 3rd PS2 brokedown a little while ago, I pulled my golden N64 (yes it and the two controllers it came with were painted gold) and now I can't stop playing it. I now own close to 20 games, most of them good but I got a few bad ones too (Shadow Man, and ECW Hardcore Revolution).

WWF No Mercy FTW!!! Definitely one of the best wrestling games, to date. One game, I used to like, is Perfect Dark. I have these two, plus Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Party 3 and Mario Kart 64. MP3 maybe doesn't go in the classic spot (and neither does DK64), but, the rest were, and still are, win material.

The great N64.Many of the obvious great games have already been mentioned, but when I think N64 the first game that come to mind is Conker's Bad Fur Day.It was an amazingly inappropriate, adult themed, humorous game.A kiddy-looking game not even remotely suitable for kids, yet it was my favorite game as a kid.The game doesn't take itself too seriously and the plot line is so over the place. You go from fighting an evil pile of shit that sings songs about shit,to a Resident Evil parody,to a Saving Private Ryan parody,to a Matrix parody with the final boss being Alien. You get to do crazy things like fight a giant furnace monster and break his balls off to helping a horny king bee fuck a sunflower with huge boobs. So if you like vulgarity this is the game to play.

Here's the weird trailer for anyone who doesn't know the game.

This is easily one of the funniest and most disturbing things in the game.
