The reason Roman Reigns sucks is 'cos WWE's trying to make him like Cena 2.0 but without the "sophomoric" humor, and more so a "badass" who sings nursery rhymes and makes references to Looney Tunes, which is... no... just... no... LOL

I don't think Reigns sucks, as much as he's not getting much to work with.

It reminds me of Sheamus during the "King Sheamus" run. Great potential and raw talent, but the stuff he's working with is atrocious.

I dunno... Even before he cut these AWFUL promos, he was still bad on the mic. He either sounds emotionless or just plain cringeworthy... Good you like him, though, but I don't.

I'm glad you brought up the New Generation... I've been saying we've been moving that direction for a while now. And while I LOVED the beginning of the New Generation Era (IMO Summerslam 1991 - Survivor Series 1992) was the greatest period the WWE has EVER had, the New Generation Era was really what almost put Vince McMahon out of business (WCW didn't screw Vince McMahon, Vince McMahon screwed Vince McMahon). And now he says he's NOT out of touch, while he heads right back to that same era.

To be fair though: He's in a bit of a spot with the New Day. He wants a 'gimmick' for the three, and I agree that they should be grouped together, because they've got good chemistry together, but most people seem to think the only way to book these guys is either as Nation of Domination style heels, or happy smiling faces like New Day.

Monkee had a good idea about booking them as faces, but yet, I can see why Vince would rather steer clear of the Ferguson controversy too.

I'm not a fan of the New Day, but I like the comedy that Big E brings to it with his sense of humor, and I'd like to see those three continue together.

Actually from what I've read of WWE's history, the NGE started in 1994 which was the year I was born. I started watching WWE at the infamous Survivor Series 1997, which is when the Attitude Era began after the Montreal Screwjob. It was already beginning around that time, but that's when it went in to full-swing and before you know it, we'd be thrusted forward in to it at full-force come mid-1998.

The reason the New Day exist is 'cos Xavier Woods didn't want the group to be about racial suppremacy, but more so the fact they're friends. He also felt offended when they tried to dress him up like Colonel Sanders, which DID happen.

My BIG issue with WWE is that they have joke acts, but... that's all they are. I mean TNA has a joke act -Rockstar Spud- and he's being pushed like a mofo, at the moment with his big storyline against EC3 who's undeniably the future of TNA, but with WWE they just put them in a match, they get a win and it means nothing. It's like WCW's Cruiserweight Division but without the substance. These guys win matches, lose matches, and it doesn't matter 'cos the only place they're going is straight ahead or down, not up.

my whole thing is that they don't need to be about racial supremacy, just a call for equality.  MLK rather than Malcolm X.

I realise the delicious irony of WWE, with its problems backstage, pushing racial equality to the fore, but even if they turned the New Day heel off the back of the racial tensions in the States, it would never need to be about supremacy, just inequality.

it's another reason R-Truth would be a perfect addition to the faction;  this is a guy who was briefly pushed, only to be fodder to Cena as WWE had no one else for him to face in a meaningful feud at that time.  stating the problems within the company.  the last non-white Champion was The Rock, preceded by the brief runs with the belt that ADR had, and then it was a 7 year gap from when Eddie held the title and dropped it in June 2004.  the WHC at least has had ADR and Mark Henry hold it within the last 4 years. Rey had a run with it in 2010, 3 years after Khali had a run with it, then you're back to 2006 with it, with Rey getting the win at Mania, then King Booker's run.

these could all be played up as part of a heel run to stamp out racism, not to make out blacks are superior to whites, as it should never be that simple.  that the New Day could be about the minorities means they would have scope to add members from Mexico, Latino Americans, Asian performers.  it could be something huge that sends a message to the world.

of course, it would help if there weren't racist people backstage who cry to Vince when they get rightfully slapped...

Thing is, playing the race card is always a lame move and would make them de facto heels anyway.

Moaning about racial prejudice to a predominantly white audience is lead balloon promo stuff, plus it is in storyline openly accusing the WWE of serious issues that have real truth to them. I doubt they would want the bad press, you saw how bad they shit their pants after portraying Hassan as a terrorist.

The New Day are just victims of McMahon's brain which is stuck in 1995 - 96. He should let that period of time stay dead, but he won't.

Thing is they don't have to really make much reference to the race card, if at all, just have them complain about being ultra talented but always being held back, they can maybe hint that its due to their skin colour but never blatantly spell it out.
I also think R-Truth would be a excellent fit for the group and should be added. I get that he's getting on a bit but hes still talented and much better in the heel role which he was never given long enough in to make a real success of.

The New Day have the talent to be mid-carders at best, but they're stuck in Vince McMahon's "comedy guys who have dead end feud with comedy guys" role. That should only ever be given to someone who is lackluster in the ring, but amazingly funny on the mic.

R-Truth, to me, should be courted by the group, before only joining to turn them into a heel faction.  he would come in, take over the group, and transform them that way.  he could perhaps make reference to his NWA title runs and use the group to force a title program with a face champion.

as Fletch says, they don't need to use the race card, and potentially, they could incorporate white talent that has also been maligned, again, before R-Truth comes in and could gain the heel heat by kicking out those guys, but then that also doesn't need to happen either; Truth just needs to use his race, not the group as a whole, to get over the continuing inequality.

then, of course, once it's all calmed down, he can go back to rapping his way into the ring...

Quote From Jim Ross Website

I admire WWE trying to get New Day established but they need to be villains and allowed to talk in that persona. It's a no brainer to me and the trio has some upside if they are on the other side of the fence.

Most fans know the guys are pretty talented so the New Day sucks chant is more toward creative for lumbering them with it.

They are doing their best with a shit gimmick when if they had been allowed to keep playing the race card they would have got over by now.

It's always quite amusing when babyfaces get an heel response.
