I'm going to have to agree with you (what is this, the 4th time ever at most?) The Intercontinental Title is prestigious based on its history and there have been some amazing matches in WrestleMania history for it. Last year the belt was defended on the pre show (Dean Ambrose vs Baron Corbin.) In other recent years it's been in clusterfuck scramble ladder matches or tag matches. The last actual time the Intercontinental Championship was defended one on one on the actual show was in 2009, when Rey Mysterio beat Bradshaw in a couple of seconds.

I don't care who it is Miz faces, I would prefer a one on one match.

It seemed pretty clear that at the very least we'll be seeing Miz vs Rollins vs Balor for the IC title. Maybe with Dean Ambrose due back soon we might see this lead to the legit kickoff of Balor Club vs The Shield.

I hope The Miz loses before he breaks the record. The guy has plenty of gas left in the tank and a long career still ahead of him. It'd make a good screwjob storyline in the short term and in the long term it gives him something to still be striving for and a big moment just waiting for him when the time is right.

I am pretty much indifferent to whether he actually breaks the record or not; as I never thought much of The Honky Tonk Man as an in ring performer even though, like Miz, I recognize him as a good showman.

But if the storyline you proposed happens and Miz is screwed out of breaking the record that would guarantee him turning face.

And if Miz does turn good I wonder where that would leave the Miztourage.

Also, your wishing to see him have the goal of breaking the Intercontinental Title reign length record at a later time implies that that's where he'll remain instead of going for the Universal or World Title. As I have said before I actually think mid card is where Miz should be; but I am mentioning this as you have said you wanted Miz to topple Brock Lesnar.

I think my biggest complaint of all about the Miz matches, wasn't the matches themselves but rather that no one was fed to Miz on the mic. Miz was on fire on the mic and had anyone come out to argue with him, he would have completely annihilated them like he did to Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack. Hard to ever justify passing up an opportunity like that.

I would agree; but of course you realize (in your expert booking analysis Tongue) that is about protecting Miz's opponent. The WWE does not want neither Seth Rollins nor Finn Balor to be verbally eviscerated in that manner.

And also on a side note; I actually agreed with Daniel Bryan's point on that episode of Talking Smack even though it is known for greatly elevating Miz's mic work stature (even higher that it was.) Miz (and the WWE style) wrestles soft compared to the indies as Bryan was correctly saying. This is fact. But Miz went off and Bryan never offered much of a rebuttal back and walked away, letting Miz have the mic. So Miz looked good, as I'm sure was the intent of the segment.

That all being said, I do agree overall Miz is getting really good on the mic and his Raw promo this week was great, saying he is better than so many past Intercontinental Titleholders. I love how he mentioned two of my favorites, Bret Hart and Pedro Morales. But he didn't mention Mr. Perfect, with Curtis Axel standing in the ring.

Quote New WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins comes out to the ring next. He gets on the mic and talks about his ups and downs over the last couple years. He thanks the fans for the loud ovation, and says he's officially back now. Finn Balor comes out to interrupt, and he points out that he didn't get pinned last night. Balon and Rollins seem to agree on having a singles match, and then The Miz and The Miztourage interrupt. They come down to the ring and Miz gets on the mic, and complains about his loss last night. The Miz seems to indicate that he can't win without The Miztourage, which Rollins and Balor point out. The Miz teases that he'll invoke his rematch clause, but he says not now, he'll do it at Backlash. Miz adds that he and The Miztourage could easily take Balor and Rollins, and Balor and Rollins seem fine with that idea. Jeff Hardy's music hits and Jeff comes out to interrupt. Jeff joins Balor and Rollins to even the odds, and Miz and The Miztourage retreat and leave the ring.

Great surprise to see him there as I expected paternity leave. I suspect he will have a month or two off after Backlash.

He got one of the biggest pops of the night. Smarks love him and he isn't going to get booed.

Could E pull a swerve and put the title back on Miz to keep him from having the time off he's entitled to.....

I was really let down by all this. I wanted to see him throw a fit for 'getting screwed' out of the title and how he was so close to breaking the record and how it's not fair, blah blah blah.
