I'm really annoyed that the live audience didn't pop bigger when he announced he'd be challenging to go into the Elimination Chamber. I really think Miz with the Miztourage vs Brock Lesnar gives the fans the most interesting matchup going in to WrestleMania. Everyone knows Lesnar could pop Miz like a pimple in a normal match, but Miz is so underhanded and devious and clever and hilarious that he could weasel his way to a win for the title and it would be spectacular, and every Raw for the next month hearing Miz brag about how he was the guy to end Brock Lesnar's year long streak would be awesome.

That said, I honestly think Brock is going to retain at WrestleMania and his reign will go on to eclipse that of CM Punks.

Management aren't, because they want heels to be booed and not get big babyface pops.

Quote The Miz comes down to the ring with Bo Dallas. Miz tells the fans to shut up and says the stars are aligned, and 2018 is the year of The Miz. The Miz reminisces over his victory over Roman Reigns, and says that was the highest-rated RAW in three years, which he takes credit for. The Miz says tonight he will qualify for the Elimination Chamber, and then will earn the right to face Lesnar at WrestleMania, and will become the first ever Intercontinental and Universal Champion. Apollo Crews comes out to interrupt, and we have a match.

- The Miz vs. Apollo Crews: This one is a qualifying match for the Elimmination Chamber. Dana Brooke, Titus O'Neil, and Dallas are at ringside. The opening bell sounds and Crews starts off strong. He hits a big vertical suplex on Miz for a two count. The Miz starts to fight back, but Crews shuts him down with a Gorilla Press Slam. Crews goes to follow up with a standing moonsault, but Miz blocks it with the knees. Crews fires back with kicks, then blocks a shot from Miz and hits a suplex. Crews hits a standing moonsault, and then a standing shooting star press for a two count on Miz. The ref backs Crews off Miz, and Miz hits a cheap shot to the knee. Miz drops Crews across the top rope, then hits the Skull Crushing Finale for the three count. The Miz is now going to the Elimination Chamber.

Winner: The Miz

Quick win for Miz, but for his own credibility with his career, he shouldn't have needed to cheat to beat a jobber.

Heels shouldn't have to cheat all the time. Sometimes they should be allowed to win clean.

They have to be extra careful with The Miz though. A passing breeze could turn that man face.

Not a face pop, a heel pop. There should have been some kind of public outcry, there should have been SOME reaction of some kind, but it feel on deaf ears.

I don't know why he's in it at all to be honest, though setting off Miz/Balor for mania seems the main reason. Miz doesn't like being in matches like these; he takes great pride in having never been injured and so doesn't like to risk that in this sort of structure.

His involvement last year was particularly enjoyable if looked at from that regard. The most risky thing he did, in an Elimination Chamber match, was deliver a skull crushing finale to Bray Wyatt on the outside. He was going to jump off one of the pods but Wyatt stopped him before he could.

So he comes in, pins Ambrose, does a few kicks then goes down under one AA. Literally the only attack he suffers is the one move that everyone always kicks out of, and Cena let go of the pin before the three count even landed.

So he doesn't want to be there. He doesn't perform well in there. He could be defending his title outside of there.

I'd have booked him to lose to Crews if I'm honest.

A pop is a babyface thing, so it wouldn't be good for his character. It would be good if he knew how to get heel heat, like an heel champion should be.

Quote John Cena comes down to the ring to kick off tonight's show. Cena gets on the mic and talks about how in two weeks he has to win the Elimination Chamber match, or else he might not have a road to WrestleMania. Cena starts to discuss his plans for the road to WrestleMania, but The Miz comes out to interrupt. The Miz walks down to the ring with Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Miz gets on the mic and says this isn't 2013 anymore, this is 2018 and it's the year of The Miz. The Miz says he's the one who will go on to WrestleMania to beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. Cena says no one believes Miz would have a chance against Lesnar, unless Lesnar missed his flight or got food poisoning. Miz says he's a better contender for Lesnar than Cena is, because he'll cross the lines that Cena won't cross. Cena says one way to decide who is better, is for tonight here on RAW, to have The Miz vs. John Cena. Cena says the loser of their match tonight, should have to enter the Elimination Chamber first. The crowd seems to like the idea, but The Miz doesn't. Dallas and Axel attack Cena out of nowhere. They blindside him and start stomping on him while he's down. They continue to beat on Cena, and only then does The Miz agree to Cena's challenge -- once Cena is already down. The Miz demands a ref, but gets Kurt Angle instead. Angle comes out and says he likes the idea, and calls for a ref, but Bo and Curtis are eliminated from ringside. Angle tells Axel and Dallas to get the hell out of here, and tells the ref to get things started.

- The Miz vs. John Cena: The ref calls for the opening bell while Cena is still down, and Miz immediately pins him. Cena gets out at two, and The Miz yells at the ref. Miz goes for another pin, and gets another two count. The Miz knocks Cena outside briefly, then takes him back in the ring for another two count. Cena finally starts to fight back, and he hits a fisherman's suplex for a two count of his own. Miz fires back with some knees to Cena, then stomps on his head. Cena tries to hulk up, but Miz takes him back down with a sleeper. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Cena reverses it. Miz grabs on to Cena and locks in the Figure Four. Cena escapes and locks Miz in the STF. Miz escapes and drops Cena's neck over the top rope. Miz goes up top, but Cena takes him down and goes for the AA. Cena escapes and hits a DDT on Cena for a two count. Miz follows up with a running clothesline on Cena in the corner. Miz goes for another one, but Cena catches him this time and hits the AA. Cena pins, and Miz kicks out at two. Cena goes up top, but Miz knocks him down and puts him back in the Figure Four. Cena gets out and puts Miz in the STF, but Miz escapes again. Cena misses a shot in the corner, and Miz comes back with a Skull Crushing Finale for a two count. They fight up to the top rope, and Miz looks for a Skull Crushing Finale from the turnbuckle, but Cena blocks it. Cena hits an AA off the second rope for the three count. This means Miz will enter the cell first at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Winner: John Cena

Sign a new contract Mike and we will make our midcard champion look weak by jobbing cleanly to a part timer, in a inpromptu match Clap

It was a pretty good match, but we didn't need to see it again!!!

It made Miz look clever by accepting the match under the circumstances (however the result did the opposite) and played up to his weasly heel type character.

Hopefully he gets a decent run in the chamber and eliminates Cena to stop him getting his "Road To Wrestlemania"
