Seriously? Not one forum search produced results for a thread with Mass Effect in the title? Really?

So BioWare released their last DLC a while back for Mass Effect 3 (now it's on to Mass Effect 4!) Basically all it was was a celebration commemorating the success of the first trilogy through story form.

They added a shore-leave party on the citadel that takes place after taking down Cerberus but before the final assault on Reaper-occupied Earth.

Here's a little video sample of what the DLC can be like if say, you're femshep and romance Samantha Traynor. The bit where everyone teases Traynor for getting off on EDI's voice is pretty damned funny.

Love the Mass Effect series, It is my favourite series of games ever. I have completed it multiple times with both Sheps with different Powers (Vanguard is possibly my favourite). I can't wait till I can afford all of the DLC. Also there is some talk well more occasional mutterings i have heard of a Mass Effect Prequel or a Forth game.

I would like a 4th game but i have a Idea for it, Spawn of Shepard, basically if you were a Male Shep and romanced a character that character be it Tali/Miranda/Liara/you get the Idea falls pregnant/replicates your DNA in Liara's case and Sheps kid is in the Alliance and there is a new threat to deal with, (maybe the Leviathans and the Yahg's have decided to take over or something I haven't given the story much though). If you were a femshep and were romanced by a male character, you survive the final assault on the Reapers and find out your pregnant then retire and raise the kid etc. Now for the homosexual relationships that's a stumper but something can be worked out I'm sure. Just an Idea I had when playing the game with a few friends online.

I've heard that it will be a prequel involving Captain Anderson and loosely weave in and out of the plot of the books, which IMO would be the best way to go if they're doing a prequel, as Karpyshyn was the reason that series worked so damned well. ME3 quickly fell apart without him as a writer.

Hopefully if they do go on to further the story at some other point in time they revisit Karpyshyn's dark matter theories. The idea that the Reapers existed and replicated the way they did in order to combat the dark matter/dark energy crisis the galaxy was facing sounds damned good. That planet where you recruit Tali'zora in ME2 where the sun was aging inexplicably fast was linked to the dark matter/energy crisis, and was supposed to be the REAL threat in the Milky Way Galaxy, not the reapers.

In any case though, god I loved the first trilogy. I would take Mass Effect over Star Wars or Star Trek any damned day. I took played Vanguard. Vanguard in ME3 was friggen badass. I played a Femshep Vanguard Paragon as my first play-through, then a male renegade Infiltrator my second play through. It was like playing a completely different game. The galactic events were the same, but the script was completely different and the play style was very different as well. The whole series is just plain genius.

I'm in the process of downloading and installing all the new DLC for ME3 right now. Previously I only played with From the Ashes (the one that added Javik the Prothean to your squad). I've yet to play with the Extended Cut (though I watched all 3 different endings on youtube), Leviathan, Omega, and Citadel. It should add a lot of extra life into the game as it's been almost a year since I played it last.

I really wonder if they were to do a whole new trilogy for Mass Effect if it would be a good idea to put it a ways into the future and thus almost completely disconnected from the events of the first trilogy. On the one hand I totally fell in love with Garrus, Tali, Liara, Wrex (and Mordin and Legion, but well... /sigh).

On the other hand, I think with a comprable amount of work, a new cast could be put together that was just as likable. I mean, Grunt basically replaced Wrex in the second game and he was very nearly as likable as Wrex, so I'm sure I could learn to like a new Turian, Salarian, Geth, & Quarian, and Liara and Grunt (probably not Wrex since he was already pretty old) would just be getting into the prime of their lives a few hundred years in the future so likely still around. Plus it would be cool to introduce squad mates that were Batarian, Volus, and Yahg.

If they were to address the dark matter/energy crisis, it could really be great.

Tali, Garrus and Joker are for me something I would want I can't see in those roles not being in the ME universe. However if the sequel was set a few hundred years ahead of where it is, Liara would still be alive and a Matriarch figure (is that the right word), and I would love to see Vorcha crew and even Elcor and Hanar crew.
If a prequel is the way it goes seeing Anderson and Sanders being some badass Alliance Heroes would be awesome, but I think prequel set during the Rachnai Wars where you can choose weather you want to be a Krogan, Salarian or Turian. Or even Playing as a Quarian on the Geth's rise would be awesome, a story where you can't win would be an amazing thing to play but i don't know if people would go for that.

Personally I would like a Sequel set maybe 20-25years from ME3 and Shep depending on the ending you got (e.g. If you got the breath in the final second or not) decides weather your shep is retired and old or dead and it is Shepards Son/Daughter/Alienlovechild goes on and saves the galaxy from the new threat be it Yahg uprising or a completely new race deciding to give Alliance space and everything in it an almighty asskicking.

Liara is currently around 100 years old, the equivalent of being 10, she's still not even considered a full adult by asari standards (according to ME1) and they live to be anywhere from 900-1200 years old. 200 years in the future would be nothing to her.

Urdnot Grunt as a tank bred Krogan is literally an infant when he was let out of his capsule, just a fully grown and mature infant. It's hard to say how much longer he would live, but Krogan also have comparable lifespans to that of the Asari. So I could see, 200 years in the future, Grunt being anything from a mature mercenary with a large shoulder like Urdnot Wrex has/had or perhaps being the new clan leader of Urdnot. Even Wrex, for as old as he was wasn't exactly ancient, so it's possible 200 years in the future even he would still be around and if so he would certainly still be the leader of clan Urdnot.

Personally I think it'd be hilarious to have a Volus on your team.

I agree though, it would be fun to see a future where you're still Shepard, just, child of the original John/Jane Shepard, and taking part in the Rachni Wars or the Geth uprising would be sweet. Whatever the case, I just hope they make it as good of a story as this original trilogy has been.

I just started working on the Leviathan DLC... uh don't know how you are about spoilers but perhaps you might not want to keep reading if they really friggen bug you. But I won't divulge much because I don't know much, and perhaps just being seeing trailers for the DLC you might know as much as I'm going to say anyways.

(spoiler)

However it appears that in Leviathan, you're tracking down the original species that spawned the reapers. I'm only just getting into it, but damn if it doesn't seem like the creature, that by all accounts so far seems to be a 'rogue reaper' and also labeled as a "reaper killer" might just be the reaper's race before they were turned into the synthetic monsters they are now. Kind of like the difference between humans and husks. Leviathan might just end up being a whole race of pre-reaper reapers. It's really damned good so far.

(/spoiler)

I've also just installed citadel and well, now I'm heading back to keep playing Leviathan.

The Spoilers won't bother me too much as i will be getting it in 2 weeks time. I hope whatever BioWare decide's to do Prequel or Sequel that they don't put ground vehicle missions in it, or planet scanning and system scanning. However i did like the side missions you'd find when mining planets for resources in ME2.

I'm sure they will have some kind of missions like you mention, probably something different still but in every way comparable.

Hmm... and yet... I just found this:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/mass-effect-4-will-be-a-fresh-and-new-universe-experience-says-bioware

Quote BioWare has confirmed that they will be producing Mass Effect 4 from their Montreal Studios, set in an all new universe somehow related to the original series.

The game developer spoke about the upcoming Mass Effect 4 game at a panel at PAX East in Boston to celebrate the culmination of the original Mass Effect series.

Casey Hudson, the series’ executive producer, said the game will be developed mostly from the BioWare Montreal studios, but he would remain the executive producer for the new game from the Edmonton BioWare headquarters.

Although Mass Effect 3 was the end of the Commander Shepherd story, the next game in the series would explore the potentials the Mass Effect universe has to offer. BioWare has already said the game will not be called Mass Effect 4, but until we have any further details, that is the way the game is being identified.

“We are starting to get ready to develop another Mass Effect game, and it’s going to be a new thing,” said Hudson. “We want to be able to give fans an opportunity to get back into the world with these things you’ve come to know and love about the Mass Effect experience but start something fresh and new – a new way for you to explore the whole universe in Mass Effect.”

The fourth instalment in the series has yet to be officially announced, but Hudson did confirm the game will use the Frostbite engine. Mass Effect 4 will most likely be a title launched on the next-generation PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles.

New BioWare IP
However, as well as offering a few teaser details on a Mass Effect 4 game, Hudson also revealed that he and other Mass Effect original trilogy creators will be working on a new non-Mass Effect title.

“We are developing a whole new fictional universe at BioWare for myself and Preston [and other main Mass Effect trilogy creators]. That’s kind of our next thing. We’re focusing on building something new the way we did at the very beginning on Mass Effect,” added Hudson.

It is currently unknown what the team are working on, but if its half as successful as the Mass Effect trilogy they could be onto a winner.

Hudson was also excited about the Mass Effect movie currently in development at Legendary Pictures.

“That hopefully should be seen as a good thing, because what we’re looking at are, I think, the right things to make sure it’s going to be a great movie,” he explained. “It’s not just going to be a movie; it’s going to be really special.”

Are you a fan of the Mass Effect trilogy? What was your opinion on the much debated conclusion of Mass Effect 3? Give us your thoughts via the TrustedReviews Facebook and Twitter feeds or the comments section below.

Not called Mass Effect 4, and a whole new universe. I suppose that's a good thing, but I would still really love to get more from the actual storyline of Mass Effect.

This Pleases me, the mivie i am worried about....Please don't fuck it up Legendary Pictures Please.

With the New Crew and that I suppose It's a good thing but c'mon I defy anyone who played all 3 m,ass effects not to be sad to see some characters gone. Hopefully if they can make us i suppose "care" is the word, for the new team like they did With Garrus/Tali/Liara/Wrex/Grunt/Mordin/Kaiden/y'know almost everyone then It can't be anything but a good thing.

So I just finished the Leviathan DLC... f**k me dude that was the best DLC I've played for Mass Effect yet, and The Shadow Broker DLC was incredible.

(spoilers)

My hunch was right. The Leviathans are to the reapers what humans are to husks, or protheans are to the collectors. The Leviathans are gigantic squid, and the first and greatest intelligent life to evolve in the galaxy. They had the ability to "enthrall" lesser species, almost exactly the way the reapers use indoctrination. Much like the Protheans in the cycle before ours, the Levianthans dominated every other race in existence. Harbinger, once a Leviathan himself turned himself into a reaper in order to gain immortality and betrayed the Leviathans, as time went on more followed suit, and a war began to wipe out all organics, including the Leviathans.

The details are a bit sketchy still, but it appears the Leviathans are very nearly on par with the Reapers in every way, except they're organics. It even sounds like they have a very similar mindset as well in that they consider all other organic species inferior to the point of being insects and thus not worth caring about.

Ah but Shepard is different. And you convince them to join the war efforts... I swear I hope when I go to beat this game there's a clip of a Leviathan taking out a Reaper in melee combat, kinda like the Thresher Maw vs Reaper.

(/spoiler)

I have to say after playing Leviathan, I almost feel prejudiced against Omega & Citadel, I really can't see how those DLCs can stand up to Leviathan.
