Stupid idiots must actually think they can get away with such blatant false advertising........

Quote A wrestling promotion in Kinshasa in The Congo of Africa is advertising a show on October 23rd with Batista, Bill Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Team 3D, Nathan Jones, Luke Gallows and MVP. They're calling the show "Rumble in the Jungle II", a play off the Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman fight that took there decades ago. Obviously none of these talents will be appearing on the show.

I'm tempted to tweet a few of the names saying I can't wait to see them in Congo on 23rd of October.

The only way that show could ever happen is at a huge HUGE loss.

Do you think there are any laws against false advertising in Congo?

Quote As noted before, Bill Goldberg recently shot a promotional video for an October show in the African Congo, billed as the "Rumble in the Jungle II" after the legendary "Rumble in the Jungle 1" between boxers George Foreman and Muhammad Ali decades ago.

Goldberg said he would come out of retirement to wrestle on the show. In the promo, Goldberg talks about the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo backing the wrestling show. Rick Bassman is reportedly booking talents for the show and he went to Africa last month with Luke Gallows and Nathan Jones to promote it.

Several other big names are being promoted for the show including Kurt Angle, MVP, Matt Hardy, Batista, Shawn Daivari, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair and Shelton Benjamin. At least one of those names knew nothing about the show when contacted and another said his manager was contacted but turned it down.

So it looks like it's actually going to happen and go and prove us doubters wrong....Well it looks that way but i've still doubts.

Too many names being advertised haven't mentioned being part of it even though the show isn't that long away.

No news has come out either about ticket prices. Not sure how the poor people of Africa will be able to afford to watch such names.

So, Bill Goldberg is coming out of retirement, to wrestle in the Congo? He might as well go to CZW. No doubt if it's got the government behind it, the money will be huge, but fuck, it's the Congo.

The show will probably be a massive finanical loss for the organisers, they will have to shell out a fortune to get all those names mentioned to wrestle, and there is no chance the proceeds will even see them break even.

Goldberg always goes on about how he wants to give back to his fans, well this makes it clearer than ever hes all about the money. Most of his fans wont even be aware this show is talking place, why else would you come out of retirement for a event like this other than for a huge pay-off?

Former WWE and WCW superstar Bill Goldberg has been teasing that he’ll be returning to the ring later this year – and it appears Goldberg’s return will take place in the African Congo.

Goldberg recently shot apromotional video for an October show in the African Congo, billed as the “Rumble in the Jungle II” – playing up the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” championship boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Forman back in 1974.

During the promo video, Goldberg says the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo is backing the event and helped convince him to come out of retirement.

Several other big names are being promoted for the show including Batista, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, MVP, Matt Hardy, Shawn Daivari and Shelton Benjamin.

Really got to wonder if any of these guys know fuck all about the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the country is a basket-case. Brutal internal wars since 1996 ('blood diamonds' and all that) that are still ongoing (1.0-5.6 million dead so far), 45,000 people a month dying from starvation and disease, and the lowest per capita income in Africa.
I'd be interested to know who's paying the bills for this circus, and who the local audience will be comprised of. I just imagine the seats being filled by local fat-cats as no-one else has money to spare on watching a bunch of wrestlers.
I can imagine Goldberg and Battista getting off on being hyped as Ali v Foreman Mk2, but these guys really have to ask where the money is coming from, and if it wouldn't be better spent on feeding the locals than the bank accounts of foreign wrestlers looking for a big pay cheque. Maybe they can do a show in Somalia next, its a basket case as well.
I hope this is being used to help the Congolese population, and not just to provide entertainment for the play-boy sons of the rich local elites. Sorry, this promotion seems fishy to me.

I thought the same as Oz as soon as I saw this, obviously it aint funded by ppl buying tickets as its a war ravaged country. Probably a treat paid for by the power people, like the Sultan of Brunei does and shit.

Can pretty much guarantee half of those names no-showing when they realise what theyre getting themselves into.....

Batista v Goldberg would be a sham anyway, Bats weighs 170lbs now and would look tiny next to Goldberg.

Quote Regarding Bill Goldberg's likely return to the ring and the Rumble in the Jungle II show in Africa's Congo, promotional material for the event lists Goldberg vs. former WWE star Dave Batista at the big show on October 12th at Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa.

Goldberg apparently said on Twitter that Batista won't be his opponent because Batista is going back to WWE. Batista told The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he's not on the Congo shows and has no wrestling plans for the near future, "or possibly ever the way WWE is going." Goldberg has not signed a contract at last word.

Batista is currently focusing on his Gracie Gym in Tampa, Florida and waiting to see if potential movie deals work out. The former World Heavyweight Champion also had back surgery a month ago. Batista's back was bothering him to the point his Jiu Jitsu training was suffering.

No other names have been announced for the show but a promotional brochure shows photos of starts like Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Shelton Benjamin, Luke Gallows, Daivari, Bob Sapp, Ken Shamrock, Chavo Guerrero, Charlie Haas, Paul London, Tom Howard, Nathan Jones, Sylvester Terkay and Roddy Piper. Goldberg's name is also listed as part of the group's management. Word is that the promotion asked Chris Jericho and he turned them down. Celebrities advertised include George Foreman, Jean Claude Van Damme and Leila Ali.

The promotion, USA to Africa Pro Wrestling Mission, also plans to film a documentary including the 20-hour plane ride with background footage of the talents. The documentary would be produced by Donnie Eichar and Brad Tiemmanto, of MTV's The Buried Life. There has been talk of the final show of the tour to be an internet pay-per-view, in addition to a DVD release. There is also talk of the promotion becoming a regular touring group in Africa.

So Goldberg is serious about this.  Maybe he needs to hear Luke Gallows story about his recent tour of Nigeria.

Looks like William is going to be in trouble with Big Dave who's denying going back to The E is stopping him doing this show.

Surprised to see Roddy Piper mentioned. I thought his legends deal would stop him being at a show that will likely be recorded and sold.

The money men behind the show can do what The E couldn't with Bob Sapp and that's come to an agreement to perform.
