For anyone that was unhappy with the TMNT film from a few years ago... don't worry, Hollywood is ready to try again.  This time with director Michael Bay.

Quote Shell-shocked fans of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” have their plastic daggers out over director Michael Bay’s plans to fiddle with their beloved franchise.

The hubbub started when the “Transformers” director had the audacity to announce last week that his upcoming big-screen adaptation of the comic book-turned-cartoon would feature turtles “from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.”

As every geek who came of age during the early ‘90s, the titular terrapins were turned into mutant ninjas by radioactive gunk that dripped into their sewer.

“You’d have to start calling them ‘Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles,’” says Harry Knowles, founder of geek culture site, Ain’t It Cool News. “I get the outrage — if you’re changing one of the four words that's in the title, it just sort of becomes a problem.”

“Part of the fun is that these [superheroes\] started out as just household-variety good old American turtles who were flushed down the toilet.”

Geeks were still grumbling Wednesday — the day new comic books come out.

“It’s the biggest sin for comic book fans — to mess with great source material,” says Gerry Gladston, co-owner of Midtown Comics, a Manhattan chain. “It’s like trying to rewrite Beethoven’s ‘Für Elise’ into another song.”

Gladston says his customers are still recovering from the Hollywood hit-jobs on “G.I. Joe” (2009) and Joel Schumaker’s “Batman & Robin” (1997).

Some are still convinced that movie was a diabolical plot by the Joker.

“Transformers” fans still haven’t forgiven Bay for the reprogramming job he did on the robots for the big screen.

Joining the geek chorus this week was actor Robbie Rist, who voiced the nunchuck-wielding turtle Michaelangelo in the 1990 low-budget “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie.

In an open letter posted online, he accused the director of “sodomizing” the franchise.

“I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with,” Rist wrote, “but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet?”

Fellow actor Brian Tochi, who played Donatello in the early ’90s movies, though, threw his support behind Bay Wednesday.

“Michael Bay wants to do a different take on the turtles origin story . . . Mazel Tov!,” he told TMZ Wednesday.

Bay took to his web site to ask fans to stop sharpening their katanas and give his version a fair chance.

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill,” wrote Bay. “They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”

Despite Bay's reassurances... I feel nauseated by this idea.  Bay's Transformer films were noisy explosion laced films that feature bland characters and a thin plot that even the film can't seem to bother to keep track of.  Why would I want him to take that approach to a subject that at it's core should be a sharp comedic satire of superheroes and martial arts films.

I swear, if he does go through with this, I will find him and shove all the traditional weapons of the turtles up his ass.... Don´s staff sideways.

I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan as a kid so I would be intrigued to see this for nostalgic purposes.

However I wont get my hopes up, Michael Bay's version of Transformers was just a clusterfuck of big explosions and over the top effects that all made little to no sense and was very difficult to follow. The story and characters strayed way too much from the original cartoons and comics as well.
So I expect much the same to happen with Turtles.

1. God dammit. I mean, I'll still watch it because I love TMNT but I'll probably be there to make fun of it more than anything.

2. They better still love pizza.

3. When you watch this, take a shot for every explosion.

Didnt care about Transformers so I didnt notice nor care about any of the botches of the story. TMNT is a whole new ball game. Fuck him and his mother for birthing this cunt. ALIENS!?! I hate you Michael Bay. Once I watch this catastrophe, I will decide if The Rock and Bad Boys become null and void.

And aside from the third TMNT, I have no issue with the 1st or 2nd live action film, love them as much as I love Mortal Kombat and Annihilation, which is a lot.

Quote source: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/ninja-turtles-delay-nadam.php

Remember that reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise that Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes was making? The one that was just called Ninja Turtles and that spawned a bunch of fan debate when it was said it would re-write the turtles’ origins to make them aliens? Well, if you came down in the camp of those who were dreading a possible bastardization of your beloved childhood icons, the latest developments surrounding the film’s production might have you breathing a sigh of relief.

Despite the fact that the film has already done quite a bit of pre-production for its planned shoot in Vancouver, THR is reporting that work has stopped on set and the film’s release date has been moved from December 2013 to May 2014. How long has work on the project been delayed? Some sources are saying ten weeks, but some are saying that they’ve heard the production’s hiatus will be “indefinite.”

Hopefully the "indefinite" delay turns out to mean cancelled. There was no one clamoring for this film to be made.

Thank god for that, having them as aliens would have totally ruined the legacy of it all!
