Less than a year ago the talk was that WWE was planning on revitalizing their tag team ranks.  New bronze belts were thought to be a sign that WWE was putting new interest in the division.  Hart Dynasty, SES, Dudebusters, Hawkins & Archer, and even JTG & MVP were all on the scene and looked to be in contention.  Now all those teams are over and done. So I thought I would remind WWE of somethings to consider when creating tag teams and offer a few suggestions.

Team names. The great tag teams all had names.  When Lex Luger & Sting may have won WCW tag titles, everyone knew it was a short-time situation.  But when the Outsiders won the WCW tag titles, it was serious and had long-term possiblities.  Having a team name signals a seriousness to the team.

Joint entrance with theme & tron. Serious teams come down the ramp together.  Not 2 seperate entrances with seperate themes & trons. A single entrance with a team theme music.  Nothing screams "thrown-together-at-last-moment" like having 2 guys come out to just the one's music.

Shared gimmick.  Two guys need to have reason to bond them together.  Brothers are always a classic.  But having a shared interest is good too.  They don't have to be clones, but they have to have something linking them together.

Here's 5 teams that WWE could put together in an instant.

R-Truth & JTG.  Both are good at working a crowd for a pop.  R-Truth could rap while JTG dances.  It might be a bit sterotypical... but it could work.

Chavo Guerrero & Primo Colon.  Let's be honest... every division needs a jobber team.  Here's two guys that are technically sound and could help out other teams with their ring work.

Curt Hawkins & Zach Ryder.  Reunite these two as wild guys looking for two things: a championship and a good time.  Woo, woo, woo.

Drew McIntyre & Vladimir Kozlov.  The Chosen One gets his own enforcer and the duo find themselves teaming up.

David Hart Smith & Ted DiBiase.  OK, this might be too much like Legacy 2.0 for most.  But DHS has been looking so much better on his Superstars outings that I have to imagine that WWE hasn't completely given up on him.

Most importantly... none of these teams would require WWE to sign any new talent or even promote guys up from FCW.

Evan Bourne and Tyson Kidd could be a good flyer team like Londrick were.

Swagger & Riley could be an ideal match, they both play 'jock' type characters, so yeah.

Big Show and Rey Mysterio. Big Show would just hurl/chuck/swing Rey at their foes.

Edge & Christian - because neither are going anywhere as single guys.

AJ/Kaz as a spectacular but E&C goofy-type team in WWE.

Curse you JTB.  I was just going to add that Jack Swagger & Alex Riley could do a modern take on the old Varsity Club bit.

FYI... if anyone doesn't know who the Varsity Club was... goggle it

Right now, they have a team roster of:

- The Usos
- Santino & Vladimir
- the Corre (Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel)
- the New Nexus (Michael McGuillicuty & David Otunga)

The teams they COULD form:

- Los Suaves Hombres (Primo & Chavo) -> Put this over as a heel rendition of "Los Guerreros", but WAY more cocky and full of themselves.  A more weasely, heat-driven team that loves to cheat to win, but are a bit more vicious in their approach . Chavo can cut decent promos, so he could carry the mic and Primo, eventually, would come into his own.
- Long Island's Finest (Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins) -> Zack's got the talent and he's got the mic ability.  We just need Curt to get involved with this.  I grew up in New York, and if these guys can literally build on the "Guido" persona made infamous by MTV's pop culture, we could see some comedic stuff come out of these two.  They'd eventually become a heelish face team, in my opinion.
- Trent Barretta & David Hart Smith -> I believe this team could start out as the "Jobber" or "Underdog" team that flashes every now and again and sees some massively impressive offense, only to fail in the end.  Eventually, they will grow with the crowd as a team that they WANT to succeed, and when this happens, that's when you have the team get VERY close to a BIG win...only to get screwed out of it.  Hell, make it a tag team title match, have them get close to winning when BLAM a chair shot happens and they end up getting a DQ win - or a sneaky cheating loss to the champions.  This team has the talent to push them without ever needing them to get on a mic (which could kill their overness, as neither can work a mic).

Teams they could sign:
- Dark City Fight Club (ROH)
- Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero/Claudio Castagnoli from ROH)
- The Briscoe Brothers

I'd sign indy tag teams because noone really cares about a tag team match anymore. Look at every feud wwe has had last yr and year before that every  main event feud had a tag team match with people in another feud. Jbl and randy orton vs John Cena and HBK for example. It's getting OLD!
YES! YES! YES!

WWE has a ton of possiblities if you also include guys down in FCW.

Bo Rotunda could join Husky Harris as a classic brother team.  Granted they would need to pick a surname.  But they have already been FCW Tag champions.

Brett DiBiase could join Ted Jr.  I think the Fortunate Sons name would get tossed aside (with Fortune running in TNA at the moment.)  But a return to a regular tag team could finally get Ted Jr away from the going nowhere angle with Maryse.  Although I think the DiBiases Boys could just a lackey/enforcer.

Hunico & Epico.  A high flying lucha style team.  Might be a great way to improve the Latino audience.  But it's hard to say if Rey Mysterio's ego could handle having other masked men on the roster.

Eli Cottonwood & Jackson Andrews.  OK, both of them are greener than grass and neither can tell the difference between a microphone and an ice cream cone.   But they are both 7 footers.  They need a mouthpiece manager, and BAM!  Skyscrappers redux.

Xavier Woods (AKA Consequemces Creed) could be reunited with R-Truth.  I don't know what name WWE would stick him with, but a reunited Truth & Consequences would show TNA what they missed.
