I woke up on marble floor. I felt sore, not bodily, a weariness of the mind. I tried to reach out for the spirits after the events came back to me and I saw the empty pedestals. Immense relief came over me as I felt their presence and reassurance.

Forgive me... I.... I failed....

Failed? What are you talking about?

I jolted up, whirling around, instinctively reaching for one of my throwing axes, but my hand came up empty. I was in my street clothes, the armor was tucked away safely, in my apartment. As my senses were now fully awake, the smell of burned fabric registered in my mind alongside the man leaning against the wall on the other side of the room. I recognized Far Strike and eased up a little. With a swift look down myself, I found my clothes full of holes, blackened edges crumbling at the slightest movement. Then I remembered.

I.... Far Strike.... the McDonalds Restaurant.... the fire.... the thugs... I... what.... what are you doing here?

Well, for one, yes, there was a fire and all that. I´m afraid we both failed there, nobody got out alive, even though you surely tried. How could you stand the heat? I mean, you were literally burning! Then, well, I followed you. Sent a couple of cowards to the afterlife before they could jump you from behind. I thought I lost you during the hassle with those goons, but I heard your wail from here and climbed through the window to find you passed out. Thought I´d wait, seems as safe here as anyplace.

I slumped to the ground as Far Strike spoke, resting my back against one of the empty pedestals, the engraved placette on the front making it out as the bears.

What exactly is this place here? And why´s it empty?

I looked at the greek warrior, almost feeling the despair creeping over my face. My voice felt hoarse and grave as the words started to come out.

This.... this is the place I work. In two ways, really. I am a security guard for this museum, but that´s more of a cover for me. These pedestals... until recently, they were the resting place of four old gods of my people. You have seen how I... change? Well, that power comes from those four dieties. I am their protector and in turn, they bless me with powers, should I need them. There were four stone statues here. The Wolf, the Bear, the Turtle and the Phoenix. The Wolf, the great hunternorth... well, you have seen that one firsthand. It gives me speed and joy for the hunt. The Bear, the great warrior.... he gives me strength. The Turtle, the great protector.... he gives me endurance and makes my skin more immune to attacks. And, the Phoenix, the eternal flame. You saw me with that blessing too. The blessing of the Phoenix makes me very heat resistant and allows me to emit a searing heat from my palms, hot enough to melt metal. Those four spirits have been protected by my family for generations, wherever their statues went. Now, they are gone and no matter how much they try to reassure me, I feel like I have failed them.

My head sunk to my chest after I was finished speaking. Far Strike seemed very deep in thought, looking around the room, actually starting to walk around and looking behind the pedestals and in the corners of the room. I didn´t pay much attention to him. My mind was with the spirits, for the thousandst time apologizing for failing them. I felt the reprimanding surge of anger from all four.

I have to find them. I.... have to, I cannot face my family, my ancestors, if I do not find them and bring them to safety again. The shame....

I slowly clambered to my feet, resting against the pedestal of the bear.

Far Strike.... will you help me redeem my shame?

*The sounds of the city, muffled through the walls of the Scandanavia House, continued outside. Far Strike searched the room for any security camera spikes, when Spirit Guard asked him for his help. He found a vent grate and wrenched it out of the wall. A red light blinked from the camera's body, and he grinned as he checked it's trajectory. It pointed directly towards one of the displays that formerly housed a statue.*

Far Strike: Yeah, man. I'm in. Come Czech this out.

*Spirit Guard stood and caught the camera as Far Strike detached it and dropped it to him.*

Far Strike: But first we need to get out of the line of fire out there and get some kind of idea on what the fuck is going on in the city. I'm sure the chaos we ran into and this happening are no coincidence. Unfortunately, my place is a no-go. I nearly got attacked by a hit man at my place last night, another non-coincidence.

*Spirit Guard looked at him, with shame still lurking. He thought for a second, then nodded. But before he could answer, an explosion rocked the earth beneath them, and they sprinted outside, bow and axe drawn simultaneously.

A car had crashed outside the museum, and a woman screamed as another group of paramilitary soldiers dragged her into the back of a truck and sped off. Spirit Guard saw her face briefly, eyes widened in surprise, and took off running as fast as he could. Far Strike sighed, drew an arrow, and ran up a fire escape on a building across the road and strafed behind him as fast as he could follow. *

Yoko arrives at the Empire State and immediately scans the area her Bloodtrait eyes looking for anyone suspicious or Familiar, She spots Joe in the Crowd, He glances her way and nod his head in acknowledgment of seeing her.

All 3 public services are there securing the area tending to the wounded and battling the Blaze, Yoko springs between rooftops to see if she can see anyone making a get away, She see's a movement in the distance less than 2 blocks away and they were moving fast.

Yoko Sprints across roofs and bounds alleyways towards the movement she can see a vehicle she wondered if this vehicle has anything to do with the mayhem rocking the Big Apple. She grins and grabs her cutlass as she hones in on the vehicle....
Y'know what?....It's really fucking hot here in Africa. Who knew?....Well me, I have been doing this for almost 5 years

Just a quickie post to get this going again.

Yoko dashes off the Roofs and lads atop the vehicle and she drives her cutlass into the car, The Car swerves Violently and throws Yoko off across the street and off a boarded up shop front. She knows she has damaged the car but it had gotten clean away, another dead end.

She staggers to her feet and walks slowly down an alleyway and finds a sliver of sun Next to a dumpster. She leans agains the wall beside the dumpster soaking the healing rays of the Sun.

"That took it out of me" she says aloud to the emptiness of the alleyway as she sheathes her cutlass.

She closes her eyes and stands a lonely figure in the alleyway.
