with rumours of Austin's in-ring return scheduled for WM29, long time friend Jim Ross took to Twitter to speak about the 'news':

the article raises a lot of the problems i have with dirtsheets in general, the opening paragraph is particularly a good point:

The pro wrestling media is god awful, let's acknowledge that much. There are no real standards anyone is being held to, so we all too often end up with bogus reports from "unnamed sources" from various outlets who simply made something up using educated guesswork. It's silly but that's how it is and as the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day. As long as you've been right once before, folks will often overlook the 500 times you were wrong.

however, later on in the article, he does state that JR and SCSA's insistance that these rumours are nothing more than BS by outlets that have little else to do, that Austin himself has not ruled out completely a comeback to the ring, simply stating that the srats would have to align right for him to even consider it.

until he comes out and catergorically rules out a return, whether due to not feeling he can cut it, or due to injuries, or just because he doesn't want/need to, these rumours are going to continue to circulate.

Not only that, Austin himself shot down any rumors that have been flying around about him returning at WM 30, retweeting the same message JR did.

yeah, the CSS article stated that both have denied both returns for Mania 29 and 30, but didn't put up a quote from Austin in regards to any of it.

Yeah, I've been reading this stuff too.

I agree with the idea that any return by Austin would only happen at WrestleMania. And he would need a lot of time to get ready and he probably wouldn't be in wrestling shape in time for WM29. But come WM30, he'll be 49 (I think) and something like 11 years removed from the ring.

There's an old saying in entertainment "always leave them wanting more." Austin has accomplished that and making any in-ring return with just dimmish that.

Austin reacted to the promo Punk cut against JR on Raw:

STONE COLD! STONE COLD! Give it a shot, go ahead, scream his name as loud as you want. He can't hear you nor can he help you; nobody can help you. Not your friend Jerry Lawler, not your friend Stone Cold Steve Austin. You know 316 used to mean that your buddy Steven got his hands on you and he whooped your ass. But now 316 is just currently the climate we live in. It is the number of days that I have held the WWE championship. 316 now belongs to me, 316 and counting. And it belongs to the best in the world.

i enjoyed the promo, and it was good that Punk worked his 316th day as WWE Champion into an attack on SCSA and his legacy. Austin tweeted later:

Quote I was in a bar in Mexico watching the football game. Word on the street was some low end piece of trash was talking smack on #WWE RAW

should we put bets on that this will happen at Mania 29?

http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/news/13675/stone-cold-steve-austin-signs-two-picture-deal
Quote Deadline reports that WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin has signed a two picture deal with Anchor Bay Entertainment.

His next project is an action movie called Kill'em All, John where Austin will play a former mafia hitman who gets brought back to the criminal underworld in a race against the clock to kill the heads of the crime families. The movie starts shooting next summer. Austin's Broken Skull Ranch Productions will produce the film as well.

they might go straight to DVD, but to be honest, the last few i've watched have been passably entertaining, and Kill 'Em All, John actually sounds pretty good.

whether next summer means this year or next year is unclear. if the script is ready, pre-poduction shouldn't take that long, so surely it would be this summer, not next.

Sounds like WrestleMania got their celebrity match all set.

Well, ok perhaps nothing at all will come of it, but I would certainly be down with this kind of matchup for a celebrity WM moment, than most any other WWE creative could come up with. Probably not enough time to get it together, scheduling conflicts etc. But still. Would be fun.

Quote From Jim Ross Website

Even though many outsiders wanted to believe the story that Steve Austin was scheduled to be at M31 iin San Jose, I knew for weeks prior to the event that he was not booked. If he had been booked we would have done my RINGSIDE show together. He was in South Texas at that time working on his ranch doing some time sensitive projects that he has been postponing for weeks due to his CMT production schedule.  The rumor that Austin was to be on the same flight at Undertaker also made zero sense as Austin would have flown out of San Antonio while Taker lives in the Austin area.

Just shows some people believe every last thing dirt sheets say.

Eventually he probably will have a match and then people who have repeated that for years and got it wrong will finally be able to say "I told you so".

Despite being removed from the Network podcats i'm sure he will make up with E before WM32.

He discussed it on his podcast yesterday too. He sounded pretty annoyed by the whole thing. He wanted to do tough enough and had been in talks with them for ages about it, then when wwe finally got back to them, he was already scheduled to do redneck island or broken skull challenge for cmt. Likewise with the podcast, he's been busy with other things, Jericho surprisingly was not, so the backstage shoot interview with Cena went to Jericho instead.

Calling those things podcasts is silly especially from wwe's perspective, who are filming video and broadcasting it live on their network. At least from Austin and Jericho's perspective they can use the interviews for their podcasts later on.

If there is any heat at all it comes from Vince not getting Austin to jump when he says jump, thus he removes the Austin interviews from the network. I haven't seen that they are no longer on the network, but if they ARE gone, then that is suspect, and indicative of Vince being childish.

  • It appears Steve Austin's contract with WWE for producing podcasts for the WWE Network has expired. It's also fair to question Austin's relationship with WWE moving forward as he was not in Orlando for WrestleMania weekend and the company has seemingly shied away from having Austin involved with the Hall of Fame, as both DDP and Kurt Angle had him on their list of people that they wanted to induct them.

  • With DDP, he said he would have wanted Dusty Rhodes to induct him but since Dusty passed away, he gave WWE a list of five people: Jake Roberts, Scott Hall, Austin, Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley. Angle's list was Austin, Brock Lesnar, Undertaker and John Cena. It sounds like in both cases, it was WWE who ultimately made the call and picked the person they wanted from those lists.

I wonder what they have fallen out about as it was strange he wasn't at Wrestlemania week as one of the biggest ever stars.

He'd have been brilliant inducting Kurt or could have done skits too with DDP such as wear a blonde wig for his Stunning Steve days.

I hope both sides come to a new agreement so his podcasts on the WWE Network can continue.
