Yes you are reading this right, Sting is All Elite. He made his debut at the conclusion of tonight's Dynamite and is now signed to a multi-year deal with the company.
I do wonder what his role is going to be, but I do hope that he doesn't wrestle simply because he shouldn't and had that injury in the match against Rollins.

It's a good move for AEW. At this point Sting in WWE makes no sense but in AEW he can play a important role in the growth of the company and add a bit of star power to the product.
At 61 I cant imagine there are plans for Sting to wrestle often if at all but I hope he gets to have at least one final match as it doesnt seem right that such a great career was rounded off with a very average match against Seth Rollins where Sting suffered a serious injury. Seems fitting that the guy who spent his prime years working for the competition to WWE now finishes off his career doing the same thing. |

For heavens sake what are they thinking giving a 61 year old a multi year full time contract? He was old in WCW and he's now twenty years older than that. The company must be running at a loss with what they are paying him with so few fans allowed.

I mean, if Undertaker can be under contract with wwe until he is 70, a few years for Sting in AEW seems perfectly normal. He's got a good mind for the business and a good on screen presence, so if he is like Jake Roberts or Tully Blanchard, etc., then that'll be cool tv, too.

He would have been in his early 40's by the time WCW folded. The thing to remember is even if he appears on every episode of Dynamite and every PPV, at present AEW tape Dynamite in advance and only run 4-5 PPV's per year so it's a very relaxed schedule probably lighter than what Sting worked in TNA. The rumour is Sting was unhappy with his brief WWE run, he was barely used and booked to lose both his PPV matches, plus he never got the dream match with The Undertaker which was the reason he finally signed with WWE. Signing with AEW is a chance for him to end his career on his terms and bow out on a high note. It's a good move, despite his age and limitations Sting is still a draw and should put some more eyes on the AEW product, aside from maybe CM Punk signing Sting is the one guy AEW could get right now who could be a game changer for AEW. Its said there are plans for Sting to wrestle but his bumps will be limited due to his physical condition.

I just don't see the need for him. AEW have enough old guys and/or guys with health issues on TV regularly during a global pandemic without adding to the list. If he's not interested in facing Cody then why waste a segment that's not going anywhere at least in the short term? I didn't need to see the cheesy stuff he did with Tony as that was cringe.

They need to go somewhere with this Sting storyline fast, the novelty of seeing Sting come out each week with his bat and scare off some heels without really doing anything has long worn off. I actually think its making the heels look weak that they always just run in terror from the 61 year old man holding a bat.
If Sting cannot actually wrestle then find some sort of non-wrestling role of value for him, either a manager for a talent, maybe a GM of Dynamite type role or something along those lines. Its rumoured that Sting may only do cinematic matches as that way his in ring limitations can be hidden.
