Have you seen it? Was it good? I've been reading reviews that range from "Best Star Wars Ever" to "Good but not Great"...

I haven't seen it yet but I'm hoping to change that with a quickness.

What do you think?

Well first off, I'm NOT a fan of Star Wars, but I took my son to see it last night because he really wanted to see it.

We had a lot of fun watching it. I actually liked the characters better than ever, in fact the first half of the movie I think I liked better than any star wars movie, the second half not as much, but I appreciated how it ended right where "A New Hope" began.

It really bridges the gap between Episodes 3 and 4 quite well.

I liked it, but I think I liked Episode 7 most of all.

I finally got around to watching it...

My Thoughts...

While I enjoyed the movie as a whole there were a lot of character depth issues. No person seemed to be much more than their stereotypical role for the movie.

I really liked the ending but felt because of the characters it was a bit lacking in some departments.

It's difficult to breakdown without going into spoilery territory but it absolutely does bridge the PT to the OT excellently.

seeing it tomorrow.

I really hope they get away with the plans for this "death star" and they make a sequel based off that...

I really enjoyed it for the most part. There were times where it dragged a bit, but when it was going hot it was REALLY good.

Highlight for sure has to be the Darth Vader scene(s). They treated that character better than they ever have, in my opinion. The absolute menace and aggression he displayed each time he was onscreen made me super hype.

I won't post spoilers even if they've been posted already, but my biggest issue was Forrest Whitaker. Like was he really necessary? Seemed just like "yeah let's get this guy into a Star Wars movie".

I really liked it too.

Forest Whitaker was the worst part of the film, you could have omitted him and it would have probably made more sense.

I genuinely still don't know how I feel about this.

I heard the issue people had with there being no opening crawl, but to me, it made sense to omit it, since it isn't necessarily a part of the overall space opera that is the Skywalker saga. but for me, it literally felt like a bunch of scenes strung together in order to get to a death scene.

I agree with how well Vader came across. because I saw it in the new year, the final shot of the film was emotionally jarring, but that isn't the fault of the film maker, it is just me and bad timing.

I can't say it was disappointing after the hype, as I avoided most of that, and didn't have heightened expectations for the film, even after TFA, but I was disappointed with it overall.

the story was far more solid than the prequel trilogy, even though there were flaws in it. it was visually stunning, the sound was great, well mixed and the score was great and it was well cast, but maybe because of the dire tone of the film it just failed on that level that couldn't be overcome by all the pros the film did have.
