Well over 4 years have passed, and I'm still interested in hearing what the new members think.

Quote What would you guys think about a reboot of Shotgun Saturday Night or a comparable style show in a similar time slot?

I think at this point I would amend that this should be a WWE Network exclusive and point out that WWE has already released other shows that are TV-14 that are locked by parental controls if you choose to enable them.

Quote However, for all the whining and complaining the IWC does about how WWE simply NEEDS the tv-14 rating back, I really don't see a problem with Shotgun Saturday Night making a return to fill this supposed need, and then if and when it gets canceled because no one is watching the argument can be settled.

I think this argument is pretty compelling, myself.

However, I think it MIGHT(?) be pretty good, too. I think it would be interesting to see where WWE creative would go if they thought the shackles were off (if indeed they did feel as though the shackles were off).

I would rather WWE had a brand that was TV-14 as a more adult alternative to the PG programming, they could have done this with the ECW relaunch years back rather than just making it into a standard WWE product piece of crap.

In honesty what the Network needs more than anything is a best of the week show which has highlights from Raw and Smackdown spread over maybe a two hour show.

Personally, I'd rather see WWE dump the PPV between Royal Rumble and replace it with Saturday Night's Main Event.

I can't answer the question any better than Thundarr did four years ago with these two points. Yes, I personally would prefer a more "free reign" with a TV-14 rating, not so much because I want more sexual innuendos, but a little bit more leeway in hardcore matches, weapons being used, blood allowed to be shown, etc. But that doesn't mean I want or need every match to be that way and yes, as Thundarr said the creative team has to be on their game, as I feel they were during most of the 80's, 90's and early 00's. But I do think things have gotten a lot better in recent years.

That being said, I do agree with Rico (I can't believe I'm getting used to saying that) that no program "needs" to be TV-14 to be good. Today's WWE as it is is more than worth watching.

And as Thundarr also said, I loved Saturday Night's Main Event. It seemed as if everything happened on it to set up a major pay per view like WrestleMania. It was so exciting when it came on.

This is more or less what Superstars of Wrestling became in its later years. When Superstars debuted in 1986, it was the main wrestling show for the WWF. Prime Time Wrestling (Monday nights) and All American Wrestling (Sunday Afternoons) showed repeats of matches and interviews from Superstars and its counterpart Wrestling Challenge. But once Prime Time was replaced with Raw, Raw became the main show and Superstars became the repeat show. Wrestling Challenge was cancelled somewhere along the way.

BTW, no matter which shows are aired or not aired, I prefer my wrestling shows on actual broadcast and/or cable TV and not an internet network.

Short answer: Bring back Saturday Night's Main Event a couple times a year on NBC (especially the February slot), and loosen the restrictions for more hardcore matches every now and then.

Humor for me is really the big issue with the rating. Not sexual innuendo but just saying offensive things that fit with a character but are objectionable on PG tv really doesn't translate well. You end up sounding like John Cena or Roman Reigns, and for the record I think those are two people who would probably benefit from being able to cut promos without having to filter their thoughts quite so much.

Blood, sex, I just don't care about seeing that crap on a wrestling show, but I want a promo from a heel to make me go: "oh shit! I can't believe he/she just said that!" and that's a lot easier to do with TV-14.

Well everyone used to talk about how the TV-14 would be better because they could do all these things, but none of those things they'd talk about would ever appeal to me. They don't need to swear, and they don't need crude sexual humor, but sometimes a guy is just a total asshole and you should be able to point that out. Sometimes your tag team partner is a complete retard, and that too should be something you can point out. Sometimes a girl needs to tell a guy he's an over compensating douchebag, and a guy just needs to tell a chick she's being a bitch.

None of that you can do with TV-PG guidelines they way they are. Once upon a time TV-PG would let you get away with these things but not anymore.

I don't need another live sex celebration in the ring. I don't need blading. WWE has done a good job of showing people get color the hard way and that's the way it should be IMO. But come on, Daniel Bryan is just gay, and someone needs  to tell him that to his face when he's going on and on about his vegan lifestyle and green living and all that hippie shit.
