Quote Partial Source: The Pro Wrestling Torch

Though it has not been confirmed, the feeling among several WWE sources is that Gregory Helms sealed his fate with the company when he was arrested for public intoxication in Kentucky in late January. He was brought back to television shortly after the incident, but was the victim of a beatdown angle and never appeared in a WWE ring again.

"He gave them an excuse," said one insider with knowledge of the situation.

Helms developed a reputation as a party guy within the company by posting notes on Twitter about drinking contests and parties he took part in. Though it initially seemed harmless, a few eyebrows were raised when he posted a message regarding a drinking contest that he and Christopher Daniels were having last August, which was proceeded by the TNA star being arrested on charges of driving under the influence just miles from Helms' North Carolina residence.

When did WWE need an excuse to release someone? It's their own company so they can do what they want.

Helms was lucky he lasted so long and he should have been more careful with the PG rating being around.

I still think WWE dropped the ball by not having CM Punk cut a promo on him LOL

No, not really it isn't. It was confirmed that Helms got pissed and ran around thumping people INCLUDING Jericho, yes, Jericho was there and drunk but didn't start any shit. I don't get what the writer is alluding to here, Jericho should be released as well? Helms should win a World Title as well?

I think he just meant that it seems like Jericho didn't get into any trouble over the incident whereas Helms did so it comes across as a double standard - ie Helms getting fired while Jericho's sitting pretty with the title.

Difference is Helms has a long history of these kind of problems, he is a bit of a party guy who regularly goes out on the alcohol and gets himself in trouble.
Jericho on the other hand apart from the incident a while ago where he attacked a fan has always been a model employee as far as Im aware, not to mention the fact that Jericho is a far more valuable talent, he is among the elite members of the roster in WWE while Helms has never been more than a low-card jobber.
