He's not fighting Christian.

Christian knew when to stop. Rusev as one of the most over guys in the company would have been jobbing quickly to one of the most selfish men on the roster, who's not had a good match for around half a decade now.

The "selfish" statement says absolutely nothing; every wrestler aims to earn their place; it's called jockeying for a position. If getting a spot is selfish than in this case every wrestler there's ever been is "selfish." Taker earned his 30 years ago. Plus you completely miss the point that the fans want to see him.

And did you just say he hasn't had a good match in half a decade?? His matches with Bray Wyatt, CM Punk, and Hunter were outstanding and his matches with Brock were really good. But for some reason you have never liked Taker.

Oh, and believe me, I have always liked Rusev. I credit him along with Kevin Owens, A.J. Styles, and the former Shield members for being the guys that made WWE interesting again in 2015-2016.

Oh, and no I don't think Rusev quit. The one thing you are right about Adders is that the Tweet is perfectly played kayfabe.

I think Rusev’s time will come, he’s too talented and over for WWE to just let him carry on in this glorified jobber role, maybe the superstar shake up will see something happen for him.

It’s being said that he’s being punished for his tweet where he said please bury me softly which was obviously a subtle dig at his match with The Undertaker where he would certainly be putting Taker over. Really replacing Rusev with Jericho is a good move, at this point Jericho will not be harmed by a quick loss to Taker while with Rusev it would be just another tick in the loss column, it would have been a rub if he could have had a strong match with Undertaker but I don’t think the deadman is capable of that right now and it likely would have been another quick squash. Not sure what the plan with Jericho will be but I don’t expect a lengthy match.

The Undertaker is a legendary figure in WWE and a top draw, his status has to be protected by giving him high profile
wins otherwise his status and drawing power diminishes, it’s not a case of him being selfish it’s about what’s best for business as people won’t pay to see The Undertaker jobbing to Rusev and other mid-carders. The way Taker has been booked over the years is why on the rare occasions when he does lose it’s a really big deal.

Rusev has also removed any reference to WWE from his social media accounts now

So maybe WWE are doing this to get him even more over - not that it is needed in anyway

Either that or he has genuinely left

Edit: he has also changes his insta to his real name and put up an email address for people making booking inquiries

This is either a brilliant work or as rumours suggest he has asked for his release

I think the fan backlash to Rusev being "buried" by being in a huge marquee match with The Undertaker convinced WWE to take him out of the fire and change the match. Jericho was already announced for the Rumble so he hasn't just become available.

The fans buried him this time, in my opinion. Rusev has been on TV every week in matches against guys like Cena, Orton, Styles and Nakamura. He's pinned Orton 4 times this year and been in the ring with the top talent. Add in that he was lining up against the most recognisable character in wrestling, who millions tune in specifically to watch and his brand awareness has shot up and could have gone into the stratosphere.

But you know, he's obviously being "buried".

Quote Daniel Bryan vs. Rusev: This one is a qualifying match for the MITB ladder match. Aiden English comes out to sing Rusev's introduction. The bell sounds and Rusev and Bryan have a test of strength early on. They trade holds as the fans duel chants for both competitors. Rusev drops Bryan with a shoulder, then Bryan comes back with a single leg takedown. Bryan starts working over Rusev's knees, then leys into him with kicks in the corner. Rusev fires up and slams Bryan down, then stomps a mud hole in him. Rusev charges, but Bryan ducks and Rusev falls out of the ring, crashing on the ringside floor. Bryan goes flying for a suicide dive, but Rusev catches him and throws him over the announce table. Rusev brings Bryan back in the ring and continues beating on him. Bryan finally comes back with a knee strike, then he hits some corner dropkicks. Bryan takes Rusev to the top turnbuckle and hits a hurricnarana. Bryan hits the "yes kicks," but Rusev ducks one and drops Bryan. They grapple back and forth until Rusev hits a big boot for a two count. Fans continue to chant for both Rusev and Bryan, as Rusev looks for the Accolade. Bryan counters and puts Rusev in the Yes Lock, but Rusev grabs the ropes to break the hold. They trade strikes now until Bryan gets the better of things and stuns Rusev with a kicks. Aiden English now pulls Rusev outside to safety, so Bryan charges and kicks both of them through the ropes. Bryan goes flying off the apron and takes down Rusev at ringside. Bryan brings him back in the ring for a missile dropkick. Bryan is selling his ribs, but he gets up and waits in the corner as the "yes" chants start up. Bryan charges, but Rusev catches him and hits a gut buster. Rusev follows up with the Machka Kick for the three count.

Winner: Rusev

- Rusev has now earned a spot in the Money In the Bank ladder match. English hits the ring to celebrate with Rusev as we go to replays. Rusev and English start to head backstage and talk trash to Bryan from the ramp. Bryan looks disappointed in the ring as he sells a rib injury and SmackDown goes off the air.

Rusev beating the golden boy clean has to mean babyface turn in the next couple of weeks surely???

Otherwise it makes as little sense as giving an heel a cool gimmick and catchphrase that's not going to get them booed.

It appeared the Lana shit from last week was forgotten already too.

The sooner they can separate Rusev from English the better.

Whilst i dont agree , i also dont disagree

English is part of the reason Rusev is as big as he is and Rusev Day is as big as it is

As soon as he makes his hmm hmm hmmm introduction thing the crowd go wild.

Having English be jealous of Rusev and claim he created Rusev Day would be a good way to do it seems as they want to keep Rusev the babyface and going the route implied by Lana would make him the Heel of the feud

Absolutely over the moon he qualified for MITB - what a day to be alive

I have mixed feelings - Aidan English is a key ingredient of the Rusev Day gimmick and I’m not sure it would work without him, however at the same time as over as the gimmick is its hard to see Rusev ever headlining while using this character, perhaps he needs to change things up and get a bit more serious, Rusev Day has got him over but now he needs to go with a more serious babyface persona to progress.
