That's an interesting take Tom, but Rusev has been eating Crow as a heel and following in the footsteps of The Miz in trying to makes the fans happy by losing. Granted the fans DO want to see him win, but if he can make losing entertaining then I think the fans would be fine with it.

If they had say, oh I don't know Kevin Hart beat Rusev because The Rock kissed Lana and walked off with her and they played up the comedy, it would go over just about as well as you could imagine a celebrity spot going. Especially if Kevin Hart were willing to get embarrassed and picked on for a while before The Rock surprises the audience by coming to ringside to help lay the SmackDown, gets distracted by Lana, and yadayadayada, he walks off with her, Rusevs like WTF!? Kevin sneaks in a win and then runs away.

Nah, the crowd won't crap all over everything. Rusev isn't a babyface... Technically. He can be made a fool out of, and as long as it is fun and entertaining, the crowd will be fine. However they will likely expect a "big push" for him (as if he isn't getting a fantastic push right now already) following Mania and want to see him get more wins and belts, etc.

Rusev is having good matches but hes taking too many losses.

I am hoping that the reason for that is that they just want him part of the show but dont yet have a confirmed Mania plan for him and that once Mania is done he will be built into a major storyline and have a decent run - hopefully some singles gold to go with it.

Quote Bobby Roode comes out to the ring first to kick off SmackDown this week with a tag team match alongside Randy Orton. Jinder comes out with his partner, Sunil Singh, but Singh is in an arm sling and Jinder says Sunil is in no shape to compete. Jinder says he found a new partner: Rusev. Rusev and Aiden English come out and hit the ring, and we have a match.

- Bobby Roode & Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal & Rusev: Jinder and Roode start things off here. Jinder starts off strong, but Roode shuts him down with an elbow off the middle rope. Sunil Singh gets on the apron to distract Roode, but Orton pulls Singh down and throws him into the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Orton and Rusev tag in now and Orton levels him with a dropkick. Roode comes in now and continues the offense on Rusev. He beats down Rusev in the corner and Orton tags back in. Orton puts the boots to Rusev in the corner, but Rusev fights out and tags in Jinder who hits some knee drops on Orton. Orton starts to fight up, but Jinder hits a karate chop and then some more knees to the body of Orton. Jinder hits a flying karate chop off the middle rope to Orton's head, then puts him in a headlock. Orton fights out with a back suplex, and Roode tags in. Roode hits a series of clotheslines on Jinder, then a neckbreaker. Roode knocks Rusev off the apron, then goes up to the top rope. Roode hits a flying clothesline off the top and Jinder is down. Jinder fights away and tags in Rusev, who puts the boots to Roode. Rusev and Jinder continue to trade tags and take turns beating on Roode. Roode finally fires up with some right hands and chops to Jinder. Roode clotheslines Jinder down and Orton tags himself in on Roode's back. Rusev tags in and Orton clotheslines him down. Orton hits the DDT over the middle rope, then Orton and Roode clear the ring. Orton and Roode get in each other's faces, and Orton hits an RKO on Roode. Orton turns around into Rusev's boot in his face, and Rusev covers him for the three count.

Winners: Rusev & Jinder Mahal

- Aiden English celebrates the win with Jinder and Rusev in the ring.

- We go backstage where Jinder and Rusev are talking about their win. Jinder says they need to celebrate, and he'll buy front row tickets to WrestleMania for Rusev. Rusev says thanks, but no thanks, since he just pinned Orton, he's going to ask Daniel Bryan to add him to the U.S. Title match at WrestleMania. Jinder is not happy about this. Rusev and Aiden walk off with Aiden singing.

A good week of heel tactics for Rusev to get himself into a match, win the match and then get himself into a title match.

People will be expecting a face turn by him now, when the real explaination will be so the fatal fourway has two heels to go with the two faces.

He was booked well and as more of a Smackdown star than he has been for a while.

What a day to be alive

RUSEVMANIA

Theyve probably added him to the match to stop the crowd booing Mahal and focus on cheering Rusev

Great decision though whatever the reason is - over the moon hes got a title match at Mania

Happy Rusev Day everyone

Following on from the tweets in the WWE Saudi Arabia thread, Rusev has just tweeted:

Life is life ... it will be #RusevDay somewhere

Surely he must be gone

If he is its one of the biggest wastes ive ever seen from wwe

What a talent he is

That tweet right there convinces me that he did in fact quit.

It’s a real shame too, because Rusev is an incredible talent and easily one of the most popular guys in the locker room.

Kayfabe is well and truely alive seeing the online reaction to what Lana tweeted LOLLOLLOL

Her stock has fallen so much since her Russian heel manager days and even then if she had dared to tell management to take her husband out of a match, they would have laughed at her then released her.

So many fans not seeing how well they are being played. He's going nowhere and the switch is probably because they ironically don't want him to be buried by a broken down past it has been, when he's so over.

He's not fighting Christian.

Christian knew when to stop. Rusev as one of the most over guys in the company would have been jobbing quickly to one of the most selfish men on the roster, who's not had a good match for around half a decade now.

Let's say what Lana said wasn't kayfabe. If that was the case Rusev deserves to be punished for his wife being a stereotypical dumb blonde.

Maybe Rusev believes his own hype that he has because of the E machine and thinks he's in a position to tell his bosses that pay for the lifestyle of himself and his mrs, what to do.
