So now, yet again Roman could be in line for yet another title shot. With Braun as the MITB holder, one would think Roman v Brock at Summerslan, which by the way, I said a month ago that's when we would see Brock again, Braun cashs in and Roman is screwed again for what the 100th time ? Yawn, next .....

Quote Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler: Corbin comes out before the match and informs Reigns that he can't defend his Universal Title tonight, because Corbin has decided he won't defend it until Crown Jewel. This one is a non-title match. The opening bell sounds and Ziggler starts off strong. He pulls Reigns down to the mat by the hair and then hits a knee drop for a two count. Reigns looks for a spear in the corner, but Ziggler dodges it and Reigns hits the ring post. Reigns falls out to ringside and Ziggler follows. They trade strikes on the floor until Ziggler executes a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, Ziggler hits the Fameasser for a two count. Ziggler keeps Reigns grounded with a side headlock, until Reigns fights up. Reigns misses a punch and Ziggler applies a sleeper hold. Reigns breaks free and hits some clotheslines. Reigns hits a series of clotheslines in the corner. Reigns bounces off the ropes and hits a big boot. Reigns looks for a Superman punch, but Ziggler dodges it. Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for a two count. Ziggler looks for the superkick, but Reigns stops him with a Superman punch for a two count. Reigns looks for a spear, but Ziggler dodges it and rolls him up for a two count. Reigns comes back with a spear and pins for the three count.

Winner: Roman Reigns

- Reigns celebrates on the turnbuckle after the match.

It still annoys me he holds the belt dangling down his back, instead of more respectfully over his shoulder or around his waist.

It's a very heelish thing to not wear the belt with honour and prestige, so I am surprised he's allowed to keep doing this.

He's a babyface with much more heel manerisms and his character is pretty stale right now.

So uh... Wow...

Good luck Joe Anoa'i.

Not sure how anyone will ever boo him again next time he steps in the ring, if he does.

I must say I am completely shocked. I was expecting him to announce a torn muscle and he'd have to be out a couple months due to surgery, but not this. Now he's in a situation where he literally has to fight for his life and may never step foot in the ring again.

And the real sad thing is, despite everything that WWE did in their power to make Roman Reigns the face of the company and a true fan favorite, it took a big dose of an unfortunate reality to make it happen. If he were to return, he would finally be the babyface the company has always wanted.

Yeah, it's pretty shitty that this is what has to happen for people to finally accept him as a babyface.

On the bright side we are pretty much guaranteed a Strowman title run now eh?

I do wonder IF Joe will beat cancer. Each time it comes back it is harder, not easier.

Its strange though. I've been thinking for a while now that it's pretty amazing no active wrestler in the spotlight of any major promotion has had to take time off due to cancer, and now here it is to the biggest name in the biggest company during his title run at the top.

At this point I think the 20-teens are going to be remembered most if all for the main even runs cut short. First for a burnout and blowup behind the scenes, then a head and neck injury, and now cancer.

I was just skimming Facebook while drinking my morning coffee at daft o clock this morning as I was getting ready to leave for work and I see a link to a report about how Roman has relinquished the World title due to a leukaemia diagnosis, my first thought was this has to be a rib as these Facebook news reports are notorious for that but I also thought if so that’s a pretty sick joke, so I then checked a reputable wrestling news site and there it was as the headline news story.

This is absolutely heartbreaking and as a fan and as someone who liked Roman as a performer it actually left a bit of a lump in my throat, I just hope Joe Anoa'i can beat this and come back to continue living out his dream. As people have said it’s sad that it’s taken such a tragedy to get him the fan reaction WWE have always wanted but I guess with something like this you have to take every silver lining that you can get.

Good luck Joe Anoa’i, hope to see you back soon.

Quote Roman Reigns comes out to the ring in street clothes with his WWE Universal Title belt over his shoulder. Reigns says he's come out here "as Roman Reigns" saying a lot of things, like saying he's going to be here every night and be a fighting champion. He says he's really a guy named Joe, and he had leukemia 11 years ago. Now, he says the luekemia is back, and he will no longer be able to fulfill his contractual obligations. He talks about the struggles in his past with the disease, and says WWE was the only team who accepted him and gave him a shot to live his dream. He says WWE gave him a great opportunity to perform in front of the fans, and he thanks them for it whether they cheered him or booed him. The crowd chants "thank you Roman." Reigns says life isn't always good, and the ebst thing he can do right now is go home to spend time with his family. Reigns says this is not a retirement speech, because he's going to kick leukemia's ass and come back home. Reigns says when he comes back, he'll prove that when life throws him a curveball he'll swing for the fences every time. Reigns thanks the fans again and says he loves them. Reigns sets his Universal Title down on the mat and heads up the ramp. Ambrose and Rollins comes out to the stage to embrace him. They pose on the stage and head to the back.

- After the break, we go to the broadcast table where Michael Cole says they're real people and he wishes the best for Roman. Renee says her husband knows Reigns better than almost anyone, and Reigns will beat this. Graves says his kids play with Roman's and this took him by surprise, but Reigns will get through this

Horrible news out of the blue and very tough days ahead, let's not skirt the issue.

When cancer comes back, it becomes harder to fight each time, with less the medical experts can do. I know this as my auntie passed away years ago from a decade long on off battle with cancer with getting the all clear, it comes back, all clear and repeat until nothing more could be done.

We'd all love to see him wrestle again long term. If he returns it might only be short term. There is a chance he might have to retire as the treatment for a second time isn't going to help his body. All we can hope for at the very least is he becomes cancer free and can live a care free long life.

Roman’s priority has to be just getting healthy and being cancer free. If he is able to wrestle again then that must be considered a bonus at this point. As Admin said the treatment can be tough so there is a chance that if Roman can beat this the treatment may leave him unable to wrestle, hopefully that won’t be the case but as said his first and only priority needs to be his health.

As tragic as this is life goes on in WWE so it raises the question of who will step up into Roman’s spot as Roman is the top guy in the company, so while nobody would want it to happen under these circumstances it has created a huge opportunity for someone.

It seems Braun Strowman has been turned back face which is the obvious answer as prior to his heel turn Strowman was the solid number two guy behind Reigns, not sure if his heel turn was ever designed to be longterm, my guess is it may have been a short-term fix to provide a main event calibre heel opponent for Reigns and also to run the storyline to help establish McIntyre as a top guy.

So for now I would expect Strowman to slide into the gap but there is also guys like McIntyre and Rollins who could step up and then you have talent in NXT like Alistair Black and ECIII who could also fill a top face position.

Quote  According to a report from Fightful, Roman Reigns made the decision to come back very quickly and Vince McMahon was the first person to know about his cancer being in remission. In fact, only Vince, Kevin Dunn, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Michelle Wilson knew about this decision until yesterday morning. This coincides with WrestleVotes tweet from yesterday suggesting that the positive news was being hidden from most in the company

Fantastic news, I'm happy for Roman and was glad to see him looking so healthy and for the fans to give him such a positive reaction.

Roman seemed genuinely humbled and overwhelmed by the support and well wishes he had received from so many people.

Not sure if this is a return to the ring for Reigns or if they will ease him back in gently, you would expect a gradual process and perhaps a lighter schedule after such a serious health scare.

My feeling is that we may see Roman featured in a tag match at Wrestlemania, perhaps alongside his buddy Ambrose and someone else against Corbin, McIntyre and Lashley.
