Entertainment wise the match was good because he was protected with a worker like DB.

He did have to sell alot though and for a guy so much bigger than Bryan it did make him look rather weak.

None of that will matter though when he gets turned into the inevitable babyface powerhouse and the commentators mention him being related to The Rock all of a sudden despite being ignored so far.

I am quite impressed with Rollins.

When the group first formed, i hadnt seen much of him in NXT and already knew of Ambrose and Rollins, so i automatically assumed that Reigns would be the weak link in the group.

How wrong was I??

He is easily the best guy in that stable, he doesnt say much (he doesnt need to) and just destroys people with that spear.

His war cry thing fits with the Samoan ties he has and i think he is fantastic - hopefully we get to see more of him in singles competition as it always seems to be the other 2 that get the majority of singles work

As I was mentioning with the Wyatts, I think the Shield need to face off against, and lose to the Wyatts this coming wrestlemania and then go on their singles careers and drop the shield gimmick altogether, it's just about run it's course.

I think all 3 members of the Shield could easily get over by themselves now. I agree that Reigns ought to be a face monster and his familial relations with The Rock brought up.

I'm not sold on the idea that Reigns is the best of the group though. I think if/when they each get time on the mic to promote themselves rather than The Shield that Dean Ambrose will rise to the top.

It's clear that Roman Reigns is still a bit green and the weakest on the mic out of the three Shield members, but credit to WWE for doing a great job of covering these weaknesses and emphasising the things that he's good at.

I love how Reigns is booked as a bad-ass heel, his longterm future is almost certainly as a babyface but I hope his first real singles-push comes as a heel as I reckon he will get over strong all by himself which will them force a face-turn based on his crowd-reaction, that will be a much better route to go than just suddenly turning him face and watering him down into a family-friendly nice guy.

They tried and fucked it up with Ryback to play the Badass Monster Face role, but I think that if/when the time comes, they won't fuck it up with Reigns.

Also, dude legit has the nastiest looking spear in the business right now.

1) There is no way in which Roman Reigns is not 100 times better than Ryback.

2) Guy has the nastiest looking spear ever. I thought Justin Gabriel died.

Reigns is far more convincing as a heel than Ryback, the guy looks and comes across as a genuine bad-ass, there is still something about Ryback that seems a bit comical.

I know the temptation for WWE to push Reigns as a face will be great as he has a look and style that could easily be transformed into a marketable star with the right booking, but I do think he could be very effective as a bad-ass heel, kind of how Mark Henry was booked under his hall of pain gimmick.

Whatever happened to guys having exclusivity to their finishers? WWE needs to put down their foot and stop anyone else from using the spear. Kaitlyn uses it (rather non-convincingly.) Christian uses it (in-between injuries.) Big Show uses it (or is he just falling towards somebody.)

But out of all the people that use the spear, Roman Reigns hands-down has the sickest look one. I'll add to Raven's comment, they could have used the stretcher spot on Gabriel after that spear and I guarantee that folks would have bought it as legit.

Also with Reigns being pinned for the first time in a WWE ring, I (and I'm assuming many others did as well) noticed that it was Jey Uso that got that pin. So it was kept within the family.

Have you noticed lately that they haven't been doing that nearly so much lately? Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, CM Punk, they've all been pretty close to the same character they were before turning face.

6 months ago (hell 2 months ago) I would have agreed with you completely, but it seems as if they've finally figured out their faces don't need to be one of the smiley happy people to be a fan favorite.

I don't think the spear is a legit finisher anymore. I think it's going through the same evolution the piledriver did. Back in the day the piledriver was Jerry Lawler's finisher, and no one used it, but after he more or less retired from in-ring action suddenly everyone started using it as a quasi-finisher, and sometimes it worked, other time it didn't. Jake Roberts' DDT had that same kind of evolution.

Finished watching Raw today and the way Reigns was booked in that match was killer, the guy looked like a machine, props to WWE and Roman for again emphasising his strengths perfectly, it was almost Goldberg style booking, he obliterated his opponents one after another with devastating looking spears, and as everyone else has already said, Roman Reigns has the best spear in the business since Goldberg.

I stand by what I've said in that Reigns should have a good run as a heel before the inevitable face-turn but I really think WWE have a big marketable star in the making here, he could easily be the unstoppable powerhouse babyface that WWE wanted Ryback to be, Reigns has more intensity and is more convincing in his character than Ryback is.
