AJ has done pretty well for himself in TNA but there was a time when he was way down the pecking order behind all the ex-WWE guys that TNA had signed, hes had to wait paitently for his time. I see him as the Shawn Michaels of TNA, in other words the guy who always delivers a 5-star match.

But that being said its still TNA which is nowhere near the status of WWE, the casual fan would probably have no idea who AJ Styles is.

And yes AJ was offered a contract by WWE, but it was only a developmental deal in FCW or OVW. He turned it down because he didnt want to have to relocate his family and work for lousy money before possibly being released before even wrestling a match on the main-roster.
In honesty I think AJ would have been lucky to achieve Evan Bourne status in WWE.

Samoa Joe, the other name mentioned, has been rejected by WWE at least twice now, they just have no interest in him. His status in TNA over the last few years has plummeted from the top babyface to a mid-card enhancement guy.

Exactly. I'd only heard his name, I'd never seen him wrestle before he showed up in WWECW. The only people who were creaming their pants over him were the internet fans who think ROH is the best thing since sliced bread. Vince Mcmahon and probably even Dixie Carter dont give a shit about those fans opinions.

1. What makes me laugh though is how people assume that an Ex-ROH talent, only gets so far in WWE though lack of talent, rather than bad booking, or lack of TV Time.  Last summer Daniel Bryan was the hottest thing in wrestling, the whole shoot deal with Cole was taking off, and quite clearly in his promos he was connecting with the fans (take note it was his promos that did not the storyline), and when he became US Champion that belt started to have meaning again, and the fans were loving his matches, for three PPV's in a row he was involved in the best match of the night, it didn't matter than two of those bouts were in the opening match slot, because the matches themselves meant something.  Then WWE for reasons only known to them put the breaks on his push.  Now I am guessing that it had nothing to do with his talent, but because WWE is today booked by TV writers who don't know shit about wrestling, and also because of a long standing baise than Vince and co. have against wrestlers from an indie background, beyond this I have no clue why they stopped it.  Point is they had a hot thing, and they killed it, and as buyrates go on falling, TV ratings decline, and they lose more long term fans, boy has this one come back to haunt them.  Rant over!Smile

2. JTB your argument against Punk and ROH makes no sense, because he was in ROH before WWE, so doesn't it stand to reason than he was signed on the back of his work for Ring Of Honor.  If not then why did they sign him?  Did they just put a ramdon such into a computer and pick out a name?  I know Vince and the other big wigs may not pay much attention if any to Indie wrestling, but clearly someone in WWE must because other wise they wouldn't keep signing these guys.  And as for your other point, of course he is more known for his WWE work, but that is because they are seen by many more people you idiot!  You can't blame ROH for not having the fincally muscle of WWE, but at the same time the feud with Samoa Joe became a cult susation, and again was likely a big part of why he was signed, and by the way the straight Edge character he has played to great sucess in WWE, is virtaully the same character he played in ROH, and he was just as a good a wrestler in ROH as he is now, and he has gotten over in WWE, so thank-you and good night!

3. AJ Styles has been very sucessful(by the way he was another one who was in ROH so I guess they must know a good talent when they see one), so what if he hasn't been in WWE, surely being sucessful in wrestling isn't just limited to working there.  And Wolf is another good talent who has been badly handled by TNA, so I attach no blame to him.
Lifes what you make it.

I choose to out think people, who are too dumb and pick on the rich.

Itll be on CW or Mynetwork TV so says Wiki (it has the confirmation link with it) and should air in September on the weekends. So basically in September I will have a new favored company. WWE and TNA really arent my thing and ROH caters to my taste more. Like TNA used to, so yea, should be huge for me. Cant wait

Ok, that's bad ass. We get both channels, so I'm with you Pimpy. I've never really followed ROH, but any competition is good competition, and I've also heard that ROH has much better wrestling compared to the WEE (World Entertainment Entertainment), so that's a plus too Approve

This is definitly good news for me ...

As I've said before, I've never gotten a chance 2 see ROH ...

I've heard great things and obviously seen some of their talent preform for WWE. I can't wait untill september 2 see what all the fuss is about. Those are great networks 2 be on 2. Hopefully they can take advantage and start staking claim 2 part of the wrestling wars ...

BTW, BFP's new avatar is sweet!

Two of the four people in his sig are amazing, too. But I'd have substituted Larry Bird for Chauncey Billups or Stephon Marbury (either one, I'm not sure) and Jerry Rice for the Redskins player haha.

I've heard that as well ...

I'm really excited about this coming 2 television ...

Its going 2 be interesting 2 see if ROH can topple TNA and become the standard #2 in the american pro wrestling market ...

I also wonder how TNA will respond 2 ROH getting TV time ...

Will they start ripping off of them in time as well?

Like I said when I started the thread, Its great that ROH has at least a backer Finally and have gotten back on TV but there reach on TV is really bad with Sinclair as they arent in any major markets. Think their biggest market is Baltimore

TNA Would Be Nothing Without #TeamDixie

Lol, way 2 be optimistic JTB

I've never seen their work but I do hope they can last longer than that ...

If not, then I don't think they'll ever break into the mainstream ...
