Still have no idea why I should care about the circus division. When Michael Cole shouted like a 7 year old excited at his birthday party about the divsion being exclusive to Raw my main thought was for me they are the new piss break for the broadcast.

I don't want to watch a group of clones of similar build/height doing fake looking shit that looks heavily choreographed.

They didn't seem in sync with their opponents either, it looked like they were waiting for something. It didn't flow.

No my wrestling is Raw, Smackdown and PPVs. Too many shows I prefer on normal TV to fill time bothering about CWC, NXT or any of the other WWE Network shows.

My opinion is solely based on the matches i've seen so far and the clips shown on broadcasts for highlight packages. Wrestling that doesn't look like a proper scrap and too scripted just doesn't appeal.

Dean Malenko used to be underated because whilst cruiserweights were doing silly high flying moves he had a more ground based attack that I prefered for the most part.

I feel the cruiserweights should still wrestle everybody.
They get their own customized ring.
Why can't it just be the same. You know, like the good old days.
Don't get butthurt about the truth.

See that would work. A match every now and then outside of their division to build up some victories to make them stand out more.

Quote From Jim Ross Website
  • seminara Asks: Happy thanksgiving to you, Jim! I, for one, am not a fan of the current WWE cruiserweight division, as I feel that today's cruiserweights are more interested in resorting to "your turn my turn" high spots and acrobatics to get themselves over. It looks flashy, yet it doesn't tell a story in the ring like the old days. I feel like I am watching Cirque de Soleil when watching it, and that is not enjoyable to me. It reminds me that I am watching a "performance". I want to believe that the two guys against each other are enemies and are trying to believably beat one another. Could I get your thoughts on my take on this?
    J.R.'s Answer:

Cruiserweights in WWE as you refer are often a victim of trying got get over too hard and therefore wrestling at a much faster pace than most fans can process. Plus, they omit large chunks of timely selling from their bouts. Nonetheless I love that they are on TV and hope that more of their TV personas can be exposed in creative  and meaningful ways.

This person has said everything i've been saying. If I had a contact for them i'd be inviting them to join us here.

Some extra names from the past would help build the division rather than just Kendrick.

My thoughts exactly, it's my piss break segment of Raw or in honesty I often just skip through it entirely.

A couple of little guys with no personality just running through a collection of acrobat spots all the while telling no story and completely no-selling every move just does not appeal to me, perhaps I'm too old-school but for me that's just not wrestling.

I watched a few of the Cruiserweight Classic matches but not many, I appreciated the athleticism but it's just not my bag. Would much rather watch Goldberg vs Lesnar or Cena vs Styles, that's the type of wrestling I'm accustomed to and enjoy watching.

The ciampa vs gargano match at CWC was the type of match that kept me watching it, no high flying shit just 2 guys showing what they can do in the ring, the match was very technical and probably the best match throughout the whole tournament....someone that can do a moonsault from the top doesn't interest me too much I'd rather it was kept technical like the good old British style of wrestling

Quote Enzo Amore, Drew Gulak, Noam Dar, Ariya Daivari and Tony Nese vs. Kalisto, Gran Metalik, Mustafa Ali, Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander: Before the match, Gulak mentions his powerpoint presentation being cut, and he reads a statement for Enzo because he has a vocal cord injury. Kalisto and Daivari start off, but Kalisto wants to get his hands on Enzo. They tease tagging in Enzo, but decie against it and just taunt Kalisto. Kalisto unloads with kicks on Daivari until Daivari tags in Nese. Metalik tags in and goes at it with Nese and hits a missile dropkick. Dar and Daivari run in, but Swann and Alexander stop them short. Kalisto charges at Enzo but Enzo retreats to the outside. Kalisto appears to go for a suicide dive, but Gulak stops him. Team Kalisto knocks Gulak off the apron with superkicks, and all of he heels are now regrouping at ringside. Back in the ring, Dar takes control of Swann and then tags in Gulak. The heels beat down Swann in their corner and keep him grounded. Daivari tags in and collides with Swann with a crossbody and both men are down. A big brawl breaks out at ringside now, minus Enzo who is watching from the apron. Swann boots Daivari in the head, then Daivari tags in Enzo when Enzo isn't looking. Swann tags Kalisto and Kalisto is locked in on Enzo. Enzo begs Kalisto to take it easy on him, then they charge each other. Kalisto ducks a shot from Enzo and fires back with kicks. Enzo hits up hitting a tornado DDT for a two count. The heels all get dumped out to ringside and Swann and Ali hit suicide dives in tandem on them. Metalik and Cedric then go flying out of the ring onto their opponents on the floor. Back in the ring, Kalisto hits the Salida Del Sol on Enzo for the three count.

Winners: Kalisto, Gran Metalik, Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali

Drew Gulak can't be legit that boring when he talks. He must be told to be as bland as possible and it worked for him because he was really entertaining reading for Enzo.

Even though Enzo couldn't speak he was still the star of the segment with his facial expressions.

Don't get why the faces had to predictably win. E don't like booking a PPV winner to win the night after 99% of the time.

The division has become extremely stale and I don't think a return from Neville would save it, I think the whole 205 should be scrapped in favour of letting the cruiserweights fight with the big boys so at least they can go for more then just the cruiserweight title.

Don't scrap it, improve it. I like the idea of a cruiserweight division, and WCW did very well with it when it was their idea and Vince didn't coopt it. They've got great talent that is easily capable of stealing the show, but it's so watered down as compared to the CWC it's just not worth watching. Let these guys do what they do best, and if the heavyweights can't follow it, then fuck'em. They're not worth their salt, and need to put on a better show as well, and if they can't because of restrictions on them, then let THEM open up as well!
