Because if they didnt then youd get 1000 promos a year like austins where he used words like asshole and crap - and this would upset the main WWE fanbase, the children. As well as the snowflake generation we seem to be in nowadays where everything is offensive and everyone wants to sue everyone for being offensive.

I'm a huge fan of the move to make promos less scripted or at least more "real feeling"

This will be great for guys who are naturals on the mic such as Miz, Owens, Zayn and of course the girls too like Sasha and Alexa.

I do feel for those who look a bit uncomfortable on the mic, they arent going to have the fallback of a script to help them out.

Great move IMO

I think scripts will still exist, just only for the talents not accomplished enough on the mic to go out and improvise much of what they say. The guys that don't need scripts will get bullet points and a free reign on the mic.

I get what you mean about the scripts, I think it started when WWE went PG and they felt the need to ensure everything said by wrestlers on screen was kept with certain boundaries so it didn't offend the public or upset corporate sponsors.
Perhaps WWE are now comfortablle that the new crop of talent know what they can and cant say and are able to go out and improvise a promo without saying anything offensive.

On a side note its always been said that when past stars like The Rock, Austin and others come back they nearly always just work from bullet points with their promos because they are from a generation that always did that and reciting a script is alien to them and wouldnt work, I remember Scott Hall saying they handed him a script when he made a appearance once and he just said I probably wont even remember it.
