So .... i went and got myself a Switch.

When i first seen the announcement and the presentation that accompanied it i was impressed by the uniqueness (similar to that of the Wii) but i didnt think it would catch on.

I kept an eye on it and seen more and more games getting announced and to be fair to nintendo they looked like they were on to something again......

.... and they were. The switch is obviously not a power, ultra hd graphics machine like what the xbox one x will be but it does play 1080p easily when docked and upto 900p so far (mario odyssey) in handheld mode.

The variety of gaming modes is phenomenal - docked tv mode, handheld mode and also on the kickstand with use of the joy cons - theres loads of ways to play and none of them seem to have a detrimental effect on the actual game play.

Some good third party stuff on there too like FIFA18, WWE2k18, NBA and already announced are DOOM, Wolfenstein and Resident Evil.

Does anyone else have one or have yous considered getting one?

They are well worth the money and ive even replaced my xbox one with this as the primary console.

I love buying accessories for things and there are an absolute shed load to go with the switch ... the only one they havent released yet is something to protect you from your misses when you beat her on mario kart!!!

Our family will eventually get one, but for now we are just waiting for more games to get released. We got the Wii-U when it first came out and ended up buying about half a dozen games. Not at all worth the price of the system IMO. We got well over a dozen games for the Wii and also the GameCube and easily 2 dozen or more games for the 3DS.

After getting burned on the Wii-U, I just want to wait until the switch is closer towards the end of its life cycle and then buy a bunch of games all at once.

Besides that, we were able to get The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Wii-U and it was AWESOME!

I never played the Wii U but ive read alot online about comparisons and the switch has already surpassed what the wii u achieved.

I think its the uniqueness factor - the same as what the wii had when that was released.

Whether or not it will last is another question but they are really struggling to meet demand which is always a good sign in terms of sales ... the third party games is also a real benefit - first fifa on a nintendo console i believe

I was kind of sceptical about Switch but I'm glad I was wrong. It's shaping up to be a great console. I love the games that came out so far and I'm so looking forward to the stuff that's announced.

Some of the games are not as good as they could be - seem a bit half arsed but the majority of games ive played are excellent. Super Mario Odyssey is unreal

I was just looking at this on Amazon because one of my boys was asking about it, and it still only has 1 game exclusive to the system that's worth getting.

We already have Breath of the Wild and Poken Tournament on the Wii-U. Skyrim we have both for the PC & PS4/Vita-Remote. And sorry, while we might get Mario Kart and Mario Party for the system, it's not a reason to buy. That leaves basically only Mario Odyssey as something we'd consider buying the system for, and that's no where near enough yet.

We will have to wait yet another year. Maybe by 2019 there will be enough titles worth buying the justify getting the system. I'm still predicting 2020 though. Metroid Prime 4 would be a good title, hopefully, and Pikmin 4 would also be a good would to have in the lineup. If they released those games as well as announced another Legend of Zelda (not a spinoff or a remaster of Skyward Sword but a real sequel) then it might be time to start considering buying the system.

I have this as my second console and dont have a Wii U so most of the titles you mentioned i have on the switch.

Odyssey is actually amazing and is probably worth getting the console for alone - in my opinion.

Mario Kart is good fun and games such as Arms, Rocket League, DOOM, Resident Evil give it some variety that maybe nintendo consoles havent had in the past

Yeah see if I didn't have a Wii-U, and had never played Skyrim, then the Switch would be worth it to me. I'm sure in time it'll be worth my money, but for now it's still not.

My 12 year old neice got one for christmas and brought it up on christmas day. For some of the basic games it got quite addictive very quickly LOL

Milking the cow was funny. I think I would make a good farmer based on my ability of it.

Quick draw was fun too but I wasn't going to beat a kid at have a fast reaction time too often. It's good how it talks to you so it knows you're cheating if you don't follow instructions properly.

I've fucked mine off because i have started to get more and more pissed off with some of the short cuts on the third party games

Nintendo and alot of their fans have made a big deal over third party support and the push towards them markets and attracting perhaps a different fan base due to this, however the effort put into FIFA, WWE and the likes is absolutely ridiculous and im a bit pissed off with mine at the minute.

If you're buying a Nintendo for anything other than it's 1st party games, you're going to have a bad time.
