Looked for a thread, but could not see one, which to me is surprising.

There is a lot of interesting things going on in the league right now. Lonzo Ball is the most talked about and hyped up rookie in years, appearing on all these talk shows, Big Baller Brand advertising off the charts, and even actually appearing live on Raw, which no NBA draftee has done before. In addition to that, Kyrie Irving wants out of the Cavs. It is unknown exactly what offers were made by what team, but the only thing that could possibly get a Kyrie trade to work is Pheonix sending Josh Jackson there, who they just drafted, as that's the only team that can give the Cavs the pieces they need. I've seen people say Kyrie for Carmelo and a young player and draft picks would work, but honestly that just sounds horrible. Not even because of Carmelo himself (even though that doesn't help), but because you're adding additional problems to the team now. You have no point guard to start (Rose has disaster written all over it if he's the starting PG for this team), and Carmelo is just going to restart the chemistry process. If Kyrie is traded, it needs to be for someone that doesn't just become your second option, because then you'll have to do a lot of unnecessary readjusting.

The most recent blockbuster trade was Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets from the Clippers, meaning Chris Paul and James Harden on the same team, and that duo could be trouble in the league for other teams. Houston gave up a lot to get CP3 though. Patrick Beverly, Lou Williams, who the Lakers traded the Houston just a mere months ago, Sam Dekker, and a top 3 protected first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

So far the only games announced are for opening week and Christmas Day, with the rest of the schedule due to be announced sometime this upcoming week.

Raptors firing Dwane Casey is just absurd. What should have been done is waited for either draft day or free agency to make a trade, sending DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry off and kickstart a rebuild, as clearly they aren't ready to contend.

Well there you have it. the Golden State Warriors are once again NBA Champions, thus drawing the conclusion of another great year of NBA basketball.

But just as big and important as the NBA year is the offseason, which includes the NBA Draft, scheduled to take place on June 21st, where with the first pick, the Pheonix Suns are expected to select DeAndre Ayton, and on July 1st, it is the first day of free agency. This year's free agency is set to be the most star studded in quite some time, with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Paul George, and DeMarcus Cousins all available on the market for teams to offer contracts to and then possibly sign. For incoming rookies and some second year guys, the Summer League will be happening throughout July and some of August.
