UPDATE: Here is the official press release…

Destination America announced today that it has signed a national broadcast deal with professional wrestling league RING OF HONOR, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., bringing one of the most respected wrestling organizations to the only network dedicated to all-American entertainment. Destination America is now the one-two-punch to professional wrestling, adding RING OF HONOR ( http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/posts/tagged/roh" rel="nofollow - - IMPACT WRESTLING in early 2015. RING OF HONOR has been delivering top wrestling matches for ten years with captivating hard-hitting stars such as Jay & Mark Briscoe, http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/profiles/aj-styles" rel="nofollow - - Samoa Joe , The Young Bucks, Maria Kanellis, Adam Cole and Jay Lethal. Destination America will pack on the action beginning Wednesday June 3 with the series premiere of RING OF HONOR at 8/7c leading into brand new premieres of IMPACT WRESTLING at 9/8c.

“With the electric and intense matches that RING OF HONOR provides, Destination America is the network for fans to get an entire evening of jaw-dropping entertainment on Wednesday nights,” said Marc Etkind, general manager of Destination America. “RING OF HONOR showcases tenacity, athleticism and passion and it serves as the place where America’s favorite wrestling stars are born.”

“We are very excited to be partnering with Destination America for the broader distribution of the http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/posts/tagged/roh" rel="nofollow - - IMPACT WRESTLING, making Destination America the home for wrestling every Wednesday evening. The first match will feature the Briscoe Brothers, Mark and Jay, as they face off with the House of Truth in the http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/posts/tagged/main-event" rel="nofollow - - IMPACT !, which is moving to Wednesdays on that evening. More details as they become available…

So this is surprising news what with all the rumours of TNA getting cancelled by this network, makes you wonder what the angle is here, are Destination America lining up ROH as a replacement for TNA or are they hoping that by running both promotions head to head it will boost interest in TNA?

The most interesting possible development would be the chance of a inter-promotional war between TNA and ROH, with both on the same network its entirely possible and would be a huge boost to the product of either company with talent able to cross over and inter-promotional matches being held.

I see this more as a win for ROH. With ROH getting TV exposure, no matter on how small a network, it'll be a boost to make them the 2nd company. TNA has been a sinking ship for a while so if this has a knock on effect and makes it better for them, then smart decision making from DA.

I've been seeing RoH showing up on both Fox and CBS two of the U.S. biggest tv networks every sunday for a while now. This almost seems like a step back for them to me, granted Sunday mid-day is a poor timeslot, but being on basic cable is more than enough to offset it I would think.

In any case this almost comes off like a partnership in some ways, even though I know it's not. This could be really big for both companies depending on how well it does.

Looks like TNA are safe for now with them mentioned in the press release. I can see a fued between the two companies with talent appearing on eachothers shows.

I hope Challenge pick up ROH so we in the UK can have the same schedule.

Hopefully ROH have enough to get over without relying on all their former TNA guys who work for them.

Yeah a Wednesday Night War storyline is kind of a must at this point, and it would be great for both companies and even better is that it doesn't involve WWE...
... unless of course NXT were to show up on USA on Wednesday nights.

Is this the first time this has ever happened? I cant ever remember a time two "rival" companies were on the same network let alone the same night in the same program lineup.

edit - it's just delayed repeats, no original content.

Massive mehh. TNA are on life support though. Great news.

The same night, no, but the DA/TNA/ROH situation is eerily similar to the one with TNN/ECW/WWF in 2001 before ECW got kicked to the curb. And the coincidences are quite extraordinary, especially if it's proven to be true that Dixie Carter blasted DA officals in an e-mail they accidentally received.

As for ROH, to me it's simple: ROH is cheaper to acquire for DA so they'll make money off of it. Hell, I heard that with the way it's structured, ROH will also probably make money as well since they'll have 2 channels of TV distribution. Plus, probably that DA's sponsors will be more willing to advertise during ROH rather than TNA (which has been jokingly called DNA - as like Do Not Advertise - by sponsors for the channel)....

So.....yeah, the writing is clearly on the wall for TNA. Sad for the workers and staff members that don't deserve that but it's about time someone puts Dixie Carter out of her misery.

we've still got a few months to see what happens.

if DA are going to pull the plug on TNA, they won't do so until the contract expires in September, but, the fact that they have ROH as the lead-in to TNA, and not the other way around, has to be some sort of good sign, as if they were aiming to push ROH, it would follow on from Impact, surely?

if they are dropping TNA, it is a smart move by DA, as I have no doubt that Dixie would be making Twitter threats to sue the company if they terminated the contract...

A TNA vs ROH war, a talent sharing agreement or a merger of the two promotions all sounds good to me as if you pool the resources of the two companies you have a very good roster, however I think it's far more likely Destination America have signed up ROH on a much cheaper deal than TNA and the idea is for them to be the replacement wrestling show when they end their relationship with TNA in September.

The fact that TNA have failed to actually flat out deny the cancellation rumours says it all really. ROH can likely at least equal the ratings TNA currently pull on DA, possibly even beat them as they have more of a smark fan-following.

Quote From Jim Ross Website

Anxious to see the audience totals for the night for Destination America. Not sure what it's going to take to make them happy but considering their network's numbers presently it may all be about selling advertising during their wrestling block which can arguably be as much about a sales staff knowing how to market pro wrestling as it is about merely selling  ad time based solely on the TV numbers.

Got some Tweets about ROH's production values that new viewers had heard me mention on the Ross Report. I've been told by ROH management that those upgrades are coming and to be patient. That's good news. I still think that the hard working ROH talents would better serve themselves inside the ring if they slowed down a gear to have some where to go but no one can ever question the work ethic of ROH talent. ROH should do what they can to edit out dated live event references as it make the viewers think that they are watching an 'old' show.

When they sort out their production content to make it more modern, I might give the product a chance.

At the moment it looks no better than the old World Of Wrestling shows on ITV back in the 70s and 80s with Big Daddy, Mick McManus etc.

I've not read anything yet about any British channel being interested in airing yet despite us probably having upwards of a thousand tv channels.

When Sinclair Broadcasting bought ROH in 2011 they said they were going to upgrade their TV production. It still hasn't happened.
