Quote   ECW Original Sabu was unable to report to the site of the Extreme Reunion event in Philadelphia tonight.

Earlier this afternoon, Sabu was found in "bad shape" in his hotel room. A 911 called was placed and he was rushed to the hospital in Philly. He is still hospitalized as of this writing.

Sabu was scheduled to work Shane Douglas in the main event. No decision has been made yet as to how to publicly address it to the live crowd

Doesn't sound good at all ....

Quote  TMZ has picked up on the story of ECW Original Sabu being rushed to the hospital before today's Extreme Reunion event in Philadelphia, PA. They say Sabu had an allergic reaction to medication. Here is their report:
"Sabu -- a hardcore wrestling icon -- was rushed to the hospital before a scheduled event tonight in Pennsylvania ... TMZ has learned.

Cops in Travose, PA tell TMZ they were dispatched to a hotel for a medical emergency, but wouldn't elaborate. The manager at the hotel where Sabu was staying tells TMZ the staff there felt the wrestler was intoxicated when paramedics were called.

A source close to Sabu tells TMZ he had been MIA all day and promoters for an ECW reunion event he was scheduled to appear at could not get in touch with him.

According to our source, Sabu had an allergic reaction to a medication he had been taking."

whether it is just an allergic reaction or if it is because he has taken other things along with his medication remains to be seen.

Hopefully he recovers

I'd be surprised if it's an allergic reaction as unless he's changed meds recently that'll be hard pushed to have happened. I'd imagine it's more to do with mixing and overdosing than that. However hopefully he'll recover and doesn't become another loss to drugs.

I haven't seen him since Hardcore Justice over a year ago. I hope all is ok and he pulls through, their hasn't been many health scares with him that i recall so hopefully this one passes and he gets back to wrestling for whatever indy promotion.

Allergic reaction?  Is that the new codeword for overdosed?

Considering all the crazy stunts he's done throughout his career and the kind of banged up shape his body must be in these days, I would imagine passing out after swallowing a cocktail of pain-pills is pretty much a daily occurence for him.

Really sad to see a guy who was such a talent in his prime no-showing low-budget nostalgia shows.

Was interesting during the WWECW episode of Something Else to Wrestle With to learn that Vince McMahon was actually extremely high on Sabu and wanted to push him as a top player in WWE, but he wanted Sabu to cut promos something Sabu was extremely uncooperative with by all accounts as he hated doing promos and liked the way his character had always been portrayed as the mysterious man who remained silent. Sabu’s complete reluctance and inability to develop promo skills was a key factor as to why his WWE run was so brief.

You can’t blame Vince for wanting Sabu to develop this part of his act, a top talent needs to be able to cut a promo, it doesn’t have to be at the level of someone like The Rock or John Cena but they need to be able to speak in front of a live crowd. Sabu only has himself to blame here as by all accounts Vince really liked him and would have given him a strong push if he had shown willingnesss and worked harder on his promos.

Find this disappointing as I’m a Sabu fan and I would have loved to have seen him in a top position in WWE even for a short time. Must admit though his silent character who never cut a promo did make him appear a bit low budget so I fully agree with Vince’s view on this.

It was a very interesting piece of news to drop. I hadn't heard that before about Vince being so high on Sabu and it just showed what a idiot Sabu was.

We knew he was anyway because he'd always risk getting crippled for the sake of a cheap pop, as he didn't know wrestling storytelling particularly well.

Why he'd not want to improve his persona, which would have made him a lot more money from having the big boss behind him, is rather strange.

Sabu was never going to be big in WWE, his backstage attitude, drug taking and wreckless stuntman style in the ring would get him into trouble eventually.

I really think Sabu was happy doing his silent mad man gimmick in small time settings and just wasn’t prepared to make big changes to the character he had become comfortable with for so many years just so he could make it in WWE.

It’s a question of timing as well as I think the silent Sabu may have actually done ok in today’s WWE facing some of the current roster. Would probably never main event but a decent upper mid-carder.

I wonder if he’ll ever go into the Hall of Fame.
